Full Version: Why the hell is Aluxes standing on a table?
RPG RPG Revolution Forums > Game Engines > RPG Maker XP Discussion

I have the legal version of RPG Maker XP.
My computer is a Windows 7. I am running it in compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 2. (I have also tried Service Pack 3. No difference.)
No matter what I do, Aluxes is standing on the table. I'm using the table on both Layer 2 and Layer 3. No difference.
It's also doing this for a few other objects-- And it's pissing me off. I literally just can't do anything to fix this.

I'm wondering if it's possible to download a program in order to make Windows 7 work better with this program; Because I really, really don't want to switch to RPG Maker VX. Or if there's any other solutions, I'd appreciate it.
I haven't added any scripts to the game at all except a tileset. And I know for a fact the tileset is not the problem-- Because it worked perfectly on my old Windows XP computer.

Have you checked the passability and made sure that all of the settings are correct?

Would you mind giving me a screenshot of where I might find these passability settings? Because I've never heard of them before.

Edit: If you mean in the tileset tab, No. As I said it should work properly, as it did on every other computer I've owned.

Yep, in the database. Figured I'd suggest the simplest solution first since I tend to forget trivial stuff like that all the time. Sorry I can't help you mate, I'm not on Windows 7 so I don't have any idea.

There are two possibilities:

1 - You have set Always on Top ON in a Set Move Route for the Player. The solution is to set Always on Top OFF in a Set Move Route for the Player.

2 - The priority is not set properly in the database for the given tileset. Change it to (Star)1 for the table parts which should cover the player.

*hugs*

Unfortunately neither of those suggestions helped either ;_;'
When Aluxes stands in front of a sprite his feet disappears behind the sprite. When I place him behind the green part of a tree he disappears behind it. It seems only certain objects are doing this for no apparent reason. Turning Always on Top off does nothing.

Also, yes, I checked the table in the tileset tab myself. It's perfectly fine and there's no reason why it should be doing this.

Also, another clue might be this two-square wood pile. The top half is over the stairs, while the lower half is not. The stairs are third layer and the wood is second layer.

What I mainly thought when this happened was "Windows 7 isn't working properly with this program." Face it; This is just weird.

Edit: Tried the table with second priority and it works fine now, but I still find this a glitching pain in the ass. But at least for now I can carry on with the game.

I have Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) and don't have any trouble.

Figuring out how the priority stuff works can be a bit confusing. I am happy you figured it out ^^
The Phantom of Memory
Go to Database > Tileset

A Window will Appear ...

Go to priority

Then click once on he upper part of the Table
...
A star with the number one should appear

Hope that will help ya
