Well I wish you luck, as this would be an amazing tool.

Yeah it might interest companys and if it does, that will make me quite a large sum of cash.Aha, sorry no discounts for RRR members.. their might be member specific discounts, but we'll have to wait and see. And do you mean Beta testing?

Thanks Axerax, you'r logo is superb, im glad to hear that you would probably use this Engine. I didn't think about DS porting but now you mention it....
Axerax
Hehehe, yeah, it would be nice. I don't know the DS innards at all, or how easy it would be.

And no problem, I'm just glad you like it =D

If I may ask why is it called Thunder Storm Engine? (TSE for short biggrin.gif)

No real reason to be honest. It was just a name a member in the IRC shouted out when i was looking for a name. At first i thought nahh.. but then i grew to like it.

P.s it's Thunderstorm not Thunder Storm happy.gif

This looks really, REALLY cool.
Hope it gets finished.

You didn't specify which kind of RM project, whether it's 2K3, XP or VX, can be imported.

I aim to support XP and VX, if 2k3 or 2k is asked for support to be implemented i will try and see what i can do. Not promising anything though.
lastend
I like your idea; however it's not cool to link other peoples images. For example you are using EGM images off their server, and lastend images off their server. Not to even get into copyright / IP issues you should atleast hosts the images on your own server.

Resource Dragon
II didn't see the FPS thing! That would be awesome!
Reshiram//Exe
I can see this working well, port to any console? Probably not the NES. But that is Cart-based anyways,so you can't really make your own NES game unless you make a 8-bit game and stuff it on a NES cart. But it looks great tongue.gif

Jesus christ /facepalm. He never said any console. He said to 360 first and maybe psp ps3 and ds later. Please fucking read in the future. Thanks.
Braska
Nevermind that, what would even be the point of porting something to the NES? Do you even realize how limited the space on an NES cart is, and besides that who the hell is going to dig out/buy an NES just to play a game that some random nobody made while he had nothing better to do..and on top of that, who's going to PAY for a game made by some random nobody, especially a game for the NES of all things...there's so much wrong there that I think I may have actually lost IQ points...yay.
Legacy
Im not enabling porting to old consoles, the simple reason being because the old consoles don't exactly have enough RAM or even 1/2 of the processing power that the newer consoles have, therefore allowing for better visual games. Not even mentioning that they are out dated.
Rukiri
If they want to develop for old consoles there are tools out there, while you probably won't be able to transfer the data TO a snes/nes or ps1/n64, you can still however create the rom file.

Everything sounds nice so far, it's still not showing anything that express gm isn't already capable of.

im not competing. This is mainly for personal use. but its here if others want to use it. So im not trying to add function that others don't have unless i really want them in it. or of course others want it in the program also .
MajinBangFlash
Heh, that looks real nice.

Will we be able to use this for Wii games? If we can, I'll buy this as soon as it comes out :3
What type of 3D files will it support? .mesh, .3ds, .xml?
A suggestion would be to add Multiple Layers like in XP, but far more. XP was rather limited in it's mapping, so around 8-12 layers would be great.
What will the animation template for 2D games be? Anything like VX?
Moar screenies pl0x :3

Oh yeah, sign me up for the OB....And CB if you can biggrin.gif
Scriptless
What are your intentions regarding the editor? Will it be free? Because porting enterbain's products.. wouldn't you have some legal issues over that?

Wii games? hmm i doubt it, im not totaly sure if that has a SDK for the console, Most of the common 2D files wil be supported for texturing and models. As for layers ill have to work out a reasonable way of doing that so that it is not restricting. Animation template will be unique so not really anything like RM.

I haven't really thought out the design for the editor fully yet, As for legal issues with eterbrain, im sure that what i am doing is not breaking any of the ELUA. therefore its perfectly fine, but i will double check this before doing it.
maaddogg
This is awesome!

can i ask what program you are using to make this.(please say visual basic or something)
I was thinking of making something like this
Zinx10
Regashi, I believe it was Oko who gave you the name for the engine. I always wanted to learn how to make my own Game Design engine, so I could have something like this. Aww.....no discounts? I could help with ideas btw.

Exactly, you are simply allowing a porting system to your engine. I mean, if they use VX or XP, they would have to pay Enterbrain first, or manage to do it in the trial. Then again.....getting as far as they can making a game under 30 days, then porting it to your engine.....wink.gif
Resource Dragon
I would likely buy it if it was able to port to gameboy advance and color. or even DS. especially gameboy color and advance though.

sorry, about the lack of updates, i've currently started college, and therefore have less time than i did, i'm not stopping progress on the engine, its just taking longer than it normal does. I'll be posting updates when i get some decent updates to post happy.gif

Regashi, this sounds awesome! I can't wait!

I really like the sound of the -Premade Templates- and the RM project importing!
Do you have a support bar for this? I would love to support it.

*watches thread*

Thanks Magi, theres no support bar at the moment, but ill make one eventually. Just never got around to it happy.gif
MagitekElite
Ah, okay then. Hope you don't mind me adding a link to the thread. biggrin.gif

Good luck with your project and collage, Regashi! ^,^
Legacy
Well, i've been working hard on the game rendering side of the engine, i almost ahve everything complete. Most things are functional such as sprite movement and mouse detection.

Questions and comments:

1. Can this make TACTICAL CARD GAMES? Will there be a template for such games?
2. Can this engine be used to make commercial games?
3. Will 3D sound be supported?
4. How exactly will the user interface work? Will it be simple as RPG Maker? Will there be an easy button for importing cutscenes, or would most of the code for that have to be edited by the user?
5. Thanks for starting work on such a brilliant engine. I look forward to buying it once its finished. Possibly as my company's primary engine, provided that it can be used for commercial games.

Sorry if some of these questions were previously answered. I'm ill today so I probably skipped reading something >_>

Questions and comments:

1. Can this make TACTICAL CARD GAMES? Will there be a template for such games?

It most certainly can, and i could include a template in it if you wish, shouldn't be too hard now. but it will be very basic, since the rule system would have to made from scratch by the developer.

2. Can this engine be used to make commercial games?

yes, but only if the engine is bought. No commercial games can be made with the lite version, unless theres a splash screen promoting this engine. I haven't really thought this area out, but either way yes it will be able to make commercial games out of it.

3. Will 3D sound be supported?

you'll need to explain to me what 3D sound is, im unfamiliar with that. but one thing for certain is that the engine uses the FMod library, one used on the Playstation3, Xbox and most other consoles. happy.gif

4. How exactly will the user interface work? Will it be simple as RPG Maker? Will there be an easy button for importing cutscenes, or would most of the code for that have to be edited by the user?

The user interface has yet to be 100% worked out, the aim is for it to be as user friendly as RM software is but more advanced. As for cutscenes, i will most probably be adding an import button, this is also not fully worked out. All the code to the engine can be tweaked to the users likings in the pro version, that way you can make the engine the way you want it to be.

5. Thanks for starting work on such a brilliant engine. I look forward to buying it once its finished. Possibly as my company's primary engine, provided that it can be used for commercial games.

Its my pleasure, i hope that once released this engine will attract a few people.

Sorry if some of these questions were previously answered. I'm ill today so I probably skipped reading something >_>

>Crowleyism<

I hope that answers your questions happy.gif
Crowleyism
3D sound is simply the closer you get to a sounds origin, the louder the sound gets, and sound that comes from either direction. Game Maker has such. My team is making a tactical card game using 2D and 3D elements made from C++ scratch, but looking for an engine to help us develop it in the future. I'm pretty much looking for an engine that is a slight bit more powerful than GM/RPGM to make a variety of game types in both 3d and 2D. ^^ But thanks for the answers biggrin.gif Looking forward to possibly buying this when its completed.

>Crowleyism<
Legacy
Ah yeah, i see what you mean now. Yes 3D Sound will be supported thanks to FMod.

Crowleyism
Another question (sorry for all of them >_<).

Will this support sprite scaling to make those brilliant 2.5D games? You know, prerendered backgrounds with sprites on top that can "walk into" the background due to scaling? If so, this is the most awesome engine ever that I anticipate. ;O;

>Crowleyism<
Legacy
You mean Isometric style? Yeah, im adding that support into it. mainly because i personally want that support biggrin.gif Don't worry about asking questions, ask as many as you like. It sometimes helps to give me ideas when you ask about it. :3
Crowleyism
Not so much isometric as I mean prerenders. Something along the lines of this. The sprites scale on top of the prerendered background so that it looks as if the characters walk INTO the picture. These are my favourite kinds of gfx for video games and the type I'd like to produce most. Would be great if there was a simple way to implement this without having to code something to scale the sprites. I'm no programmer so I'm not sure how simple it'd be to make an engine that will let a user easily pull this effect off.

>Crowleyism<
Legacy
Sounds interesting, i'll see what i can do :3
DespairReigns
I've kept my eye on this engine, and I'm really impressed.
In fact, I got you something. biggrin.gif
