Before switching to RMXP, I had almost completed a project with RM2k3.. and then my laptop crashed and took all my data down to computer hell with it. Anyhow, my point is, I remember there being a backslash command in the message system of RM2k3 that allowed you to make small pauses between letters to give the illusion of progressing speech, and also to pause at the end of statements for dramatic effect or likewise. I would very much like to do this in RMXP, but haven't been able to locate the respective command to do so in the help file. If this feature has been omitted from the engine, then I'd be very interested in learning how to script it back in. I know that Ccoa has taken down her submission of the UMS for one reason or another, but my issue isn't with the need of facesets or the like (I have picture events set up for displaying/erasing portraits), but simply with being able to print out messages at a slower rate to give the player a dynamic illusion of speech.
Thanks in advance. I've been dabbling in RGSS for a while (making windows and editing menus), so I'm comfortable with edits, at this point.
EDIT /// Aaaand the UMS does contain exactly what I'm looking for, but a lot of other features I could do without. Maybe I should try to script this on my own for the sake of the engine's resources.
