Nub Cake
Looked kind of nice.
When do you think your finished?
sonzqnn
^^ i dont think it go this far
sonzqnn
sorry
Legacy
Did you modify the Original Editor o.O you know thats illegal right?
Rukiri
Not technically.. There's no laws saying he can't re-create the editor and make it better.
I'm testing as I write this.
Kread-EX
Actually there is, Rukiri. It would be okay if he had written a different editor, but this one is clearly an edit of the original. You can do this for your personal use, but distributing it is like distributing a modified RGSS dll.
sonzqnn
illegal ... maybe but it not the crack version then i thing it not illegal

And i just modify some text, some button... the structure of engine isn't changed
It like a translate version no thing more.

Just try it!

Does this comply with the License agreement within RPG Maker XP?
How are you distributing this Engine?

And this is what is illegal there. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great and I fully support Open source softwares. But RMXP is a shareware and modifying it even slightly is not permitted. At the very least, if you were to sold your version and give the money to Enterbrain they might accept but in this case, it's pretty much like distributing the PK version. You can be sued.

Try to distribute a patch rather, which would require the legal version to work. It's still illegal, but much better since no loss of profit is involved for Enterbrain.
sonzqnn
lol i never think it made to sold.
i do it for free.
you must buy rmxp to use it (from Enter Brain of course)
Kread-EX
You didn't really read my post, did you ? I said that in this case, selling it and give the money to Enterbrain would be BETTER.
The problem is really this: you are distributing a modified version for FREE.

At least just provide a patch...
sonzqnn
sorry maybe i misunderstanding you (i not good at English)
bu i think EB will not interested sad.gif
Kread-EX
Yeah, there is 99% chance that they will never accept. I'd really really suggest you to turn this into a patch, in order to eliminate (or at least minimize) the loss of profit issue.
I don't know how you modified the editor (simple hex edit most likely - I did that for RM2k/2k3) but you should have the necessary skill to just turn this into an app patch.
sonzqnn
happy.gif yes i use winhex to do it
ohmy.gif but i don't know how to make an path sad.gif
Kread-EX
Remember the offsets and the new hex values, and then write an application which will treat all the data stream from the original in binary, convert the stream to hex and overwrite the old values at the desired offsets.
You can do this in Java (Zeriab always uses Java) C, C++ or whatever you want. Even Ruby. Well, this last option will certainly be slow and the user will need Ruby installed.

Sorry if it's cryptic, I never have been a good teacher...

We will not allow you to be able to distribute this as a whole engine on this forum, if you do post it then it would result in a possible ban.
It would be treated like any other illegal translation of RMXP, since this would be free and you're redistributing an engine that people would normally have to pay for to use.

I'm not sure if we'd be able to even link to a patch if it was created.
sonzqnn
okey i was worng when post this
please del this topic ...
i will not do it again
thanks

A patch would not be that dangerous since you would need the program. And pirated versions (at least DynaEmu and PKE) have some differences in offsets.
But yeah, it's not surprising you wouldn't allow it. Though you're still allowing RM2000 and RM2003 pirated versions - you really should remove those.
