Full Version: Player movement while displaying text

What I am after is a way to display a message box but give the player free movement while it’s displayed and then make is disappear with either a pre timed, or trigger event.
I’ve been Googling but probably not in the right places.

If you have the text displayed in a parrallel process event, you can move while it's displayed.
Then you can use a UMS or AMS to use the timed close function.

Another choice is to use Wachunga(?)'s multiple message window script, which has script functions to allow moving during messages. However, that script requires the SDK.

The normal text window that comes with RMXP waits until you have pushed enter or the C key before you will be able to continue, even though you have it in a parallel process.
The Multiple Message Window script is your best bet. I think. And the SDK is included in it so you won't be needed to find that after.

...or you could just use "Show Picture."

This would be the most effective way, if you want the image timed before it disappears. You can screenshot the message and place it in the same spot as it would normally be as well.

Thanks for the help guys! The MMW works great but its conflicting with Blizz ABS. Looks like I’ll have to use images unless anyone has further suggestions? I was hoping to avoid using images. I already have 100+ pictures already and if there were a way to get the system to do it, it would save some space.

Edit: Scratch that its working fine now. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
