Alternate topic title: How to avoid making the horrible battle tutorial I made in my Kingdom Hearts fangame ?
My answer:
1 - If your battle system is really well-known, don't make a tutorial. This will just irritate players.
2 - Use battle events. Display pictures or messages, use the Force Action and Wait commands. If by "Battle Pause". You can also use the "Input Button" command to make the player proceed into the event rather than a wait time.

I try using the battle event thing, but it doesn't even work... for some odd reason I put in some commands like display text and stuff, and nothing happens... is it cos I just don't understand it, *sigh* oh yh MY KH game was going to be epic I made changes to everything and was about to release a new demo which was 2 - 4 hours long, and the story isn't all gay and stuff it was sad, and epic and yh, BUT then... my friend deleted the file and then emptied my trash

What battle system are you using ? Because it is weird that the battle events don't work.

I'm using the sideview one, not the front view or the chrono trigger one

Weird, I used to work with that a little for someone and I never experienced any problems with the battle events. Are you sure that the battle conditions (like the turn) are correctly set up ?

It's rather basic. Since it's a battle tutorial, you set the trigger condition to "Turn 0" so the event commands will be processed immediately.
