Okay so searching the forums is getting me nowhere so I'll ask here...
Basically I'm getting back into RPG Maker (wish they'd release a new one). I'm a spriter.
1st what were the graphical differences between the two? Does VX have a bigger resolution to it's sprites? I don't remember. I remember VX had a limitation on the amount of tiles though... I'm basically trying to decide if I should switch to VX from XP.
Which one has the most support from custom scripts and stuff? I'm looking for the best battle systems, 8 directional movement and basically a lot.
P.S. I can't find the 8 directional movement script. Can someone point me to it?

As a spriter I prefer XP over VX, the screen size of VX is reduced to something similar to that of a DS screen resolution. Yeah VX has a standard set of tiles that are usable within the entire game.
I find developing sprites and tilesets a lot more comforting within XP, I know I can freely create large objects for a certain area without taking space away from other areas.
The support for the scripts are exactly the same, there's only a few variations within the scripts themselves which wouldn't really limit a games development and or playability.

VX is definitely more user friendly, but XP has been out longer and still has a very dedicated fan base for it. Therefore, there won't be any problems getting scripts for either of them, really. XP technically is "better" resolution wise, but it really comes down to which maker you like. Not that there is that much difference between the two past the tilesets.

its either: Graphics or lots of map items
RPG XP RPG VX
Though you could add all the rpgxp maps under eachother and make an ultimate map,
I prefer XP though
