Hey all, my first post. But heres the issue. (btw rmxp used to work a few years ago on this very same computer)

Alright i redownloaded XP today cus i've been having that urge, you know? Anywho it didnt work. After much research, i went to program files, and changed the properties of RPGXP.exe to run in compatability mode for xp service pack 2, and also clicked the checkbox for run as admin. And i went into the system folder and did the same thing to the file named 'game'.

Ok heres the issue, it works fine now. i can make a game, BUT when i click playtest it doesnt work. the window pops up, black, cant close, i gotta Ctrl-atl-del and end task to be able to do anything agian. Same issue when i play a sound in sound test. So please tell me what i gotta do to make it work on my vista system, thanks ^^

I think I had that problem with a friends computer too. He had Vista too. Can you open the game from the EXE file in the folder?

No i cant.. if i open the game.exe from the folder of the game i was making, same thing occurs. The game window pops up, but its black, and never loads. And the only way i can close it is with ctrl+alt+del and end task.

Strange... Have you tried running it in compability mode?

Yes, compatabilty mode is what i had to turn everything to in order to get it running at all.

Well i tried everything there, its still the same. So i turned my settings back to how it was before. Anything else? I am really stumped on this. RPG maker XP used fully function on this very same PC 2 or 3 years ago! nothing has changed about the pc aside from the automatic updates i recieve.

OK, i found out something that may prove important here! So heres what i did, i downloaded KNight Blade: howling of kerberos (the demo game on the site to download RPG maker XP) and when i clicked on that game, it worked. the window popped up, everything was ok, it worked... so idk what the issue with what im making is?
