I was sitting around messing with my game, when I decided I should seek opinion on my battle screen. Here's a few pics.
Target selection:

Changing equipment:

Browsing my items:

What do you think? It's modeled after various Dragon Quest and Warrior systems.

That's really cool. That's a new kind of hud. You could probably even throw it in the scripts section.

What icon set are you using? I like it.

It's actually an edit of breadlords 'Improved Battle Status' hud. I may post it, pending a small edit if it works. I'll send you the iconset if you want. I don't remember who compiled it.

Its on its way. On a side note, I'll be posting the hud script soon. It doesn't appear at the top screen like my pic shows. That was something I had to edit in the Scene_Battle itself.

This topic probably would've been best posted in Game Theory or something >.>' It won't get a lot of attention here.
Anyways looking nice.

Yap, II think the same thing Hirei.
About your images. So this being excellent. "There's no battle background? Well, the only thing that would change, would go a little further up the enemies, so that the menus do not clog. Then the theme of the interface, I have no complaints, I like how it looks.
Sorry for my bad english u^^

Thanks Darkblade!
@SEBA - I was in a test battle. That's why you don't a see background. I didn't bother to configure one for it. But the images would look nicer though.

Make it better, because you know you can. And fight some zombies next time... you'll stick with the slimes, I know. Oh, make a slime that has just found out what the little point at the top is for!!!! EWWW!!!

I'd make it so the monster and equipment windows are the same size vertically as the command window. I'd also make the equipment window stretch out to the edge of the screen. It just looks a little sketchy the way it is now.
Systematically, it looks good.
EDIT: I'd also consider a bolder font, but that's not really as much of an issue as the sporadically sized windows.

Funny thing. I took those pic before I fixed the window sizes. Except the target select window. I haven't found the line of code that would let me change the size.

I rather like it as it is, without the battlebacks, aside from agreeing that the enemies should move up a tad bit. The pure black screen gives it a nostalgic look, and it's far better than the default wavy screen VX has.

It's harder to recreate a dragon quest battle system than people think. This one though has several influences from various games from the series. If I could find some actual battlebacks from the series it would look a whole lot better. The enemies are actually at the default positioning you get in the database. I still have them to move up. And make more.
