A while back there was a rp called .hack//sign, not sure if any of you remember it. I was thinking how dope it would be if the rp was brought back to life. The first time through was pretty fun. Then everyone got occupied and it got buried. So, just for shits and giggles, why not?

The Outline:
When Satou started the rp a while back it was a highschool setting. I find highschool settings to be less convenient. So in Retribution why not a college setting? Your roommate can either be a NPC or one of us, that's if the other player agrees to room their character with yours. Everyone will live in the same dorm on different floors or the same floor, doesn't matter. In all, there will be five floors. This way it will be easier to communicate with each other. The rp is based in Haoki, the name of the college. Havent given much thought to the city's name, but does it matter?

It knows a lot more than I do. But to those who knows the series well, I guess you can consider my information a brush up:

.hack is an anime-series where all the drama, the trouble, the carnage is all based inside the most popular virtual reality MMO known to the .hack inhabitants, "The World." Downside is...the game has some real-life consequences. For instance, out of the blue, someone might fall into a coma or something, and as a result the entire internet may be shutdown for a period of time. It is known as Pluto's Kiss. Almost 99% of all things in the .hack universe is connected to The Net which was infected by Pluto's Kiss for 77 minutes. During this time all kinds of bs happened man. Planes started crashing, trains were derailed, telephone communication was shut down. Picture living in 2010 without anything electronic...yep.

Game Terms: Quick list so newcomers to .hack don't get confused
Root Town: Just a town. It has shops, guild bases, and a quest center. Mac Anu(Delta) is a city by the water. It looks like a small town one might find in Europe with a river running through it. Dol Dona(Theta) is a town hidden in a valley. The inhabitants are in touch with nature and it clearly shows. Breg Epona(Sigma) is the most advanced city with things like elevators and railways. It is held high in the sky by large support pillars. Its tall buildings almost resemble a modern city. Lumina Cloth(Omega) is home to the Arena. It also resembles a modern city but it's always night here.
Chaos Gate: A gate that leads from the Root Town to a Field. It goes to different Fields by using a combination of three Keywords. They can aslo be used to transfer servers.
Keywords: Used to activate Chaos Gates. They are usually just random words such as: "Sunny", "1000 Oaks", "Moonlight", or something like that.
Fields: Anywhere outside the town. Fields can be things like caves, temples, deserts, plains, or the the like. Each combination of Keywords leads to a slightly different Field.
Steam Bike: "The World" takes place an a universe where steam is the main power source. Players can ride on motorcycle-like bikes in open Fields or Root Towns to get around faster. Dungeon areas like caves or temples won't allow Steam Bikes.
Grunties: They are NPCs that manage guilds. They tend to look like the Guild Leader.

Servers: There are different servers. Each one has it's own Root Town and different level Fields. Delta - 1-50, Theta - 51-100, Sigma, 101-150, Omgea's Chaos Gate does not lead to Fields.
PK: Player Killers, those who kill players for fun and to steal items
PKK: Player Killer Killers, those who kill PKs for justice or revenge
Arena: a Player vs Player arena where both players consent to fight

No need in posting the role-playing rulez, since everyione knows them, I'm sure.

Jobs: (MMO character classes)
Adept Rogue: Uses 3 types of weapons as well as magic. Not really specializing in anything. (example: Haseo from G.U. uses daggers, a broad sword, and a scythe)
Harvest Cleric: Weapon - staff, uses healing and support magic.
Steam Gunner: Weapon - bayonet, can use both long and short-range attacks due to the blade attached to the gun. Special attacks are long-range.
Tribal Grappler: Weapon- fists, a hand-to-hand fighter
Blade Brandier: Weapon - sword, uses average-sized swords to deal medium damage quickly
Shadow Warlock: Weapon - grimoire, uses offensive magic spells as well as enfeebling the enemy
Lord Partizan: Weapon - spears, the use of acrobatics makes combos easier
Twin Blade: Weapon - two daggers, not much of a heavy hitter, but quick with long combos
Macabre Dancer: Weapon - folding fan, uses support magic for party members and enfeebles the enemy, also knows a little offensive and healing magic
Flick Reaper: Weapon - scythe, deals medium damage, long swings can hit multiple enemies
Edge Punisher: Weapon - giant sword: deals heavy damage with slow swings, can easily break through shields

Character Profiles:
You can only have one character. However, your character will split in two. You will have your MMO character and your real-world character. So it works for everyone who wanted more than one character.

Mid-length brown hair and brown eyes. He wears a short-sleeve red vest with a black t-shirt underneath. A black neck strap and black fingerless gloves. He wears black bondage trousers with detachable straps and eyelets, and black and white chuck taylors. He has multiple piercings in both ears and multiple tattoos that runs from his neck to both arms.
Personality: He is very open about what thinks about people. He usually don't hold grudges against people unless it is necessary. A bit of a trash-talker while online. He sees his life as a "why not?" and do whatever, whenever.
Biography: Dehachi has been a very avid gamer since he was a kid. Most the time, his parents are off with their work and he is left there with a TV screen and a computer. Most to all of his computer games could never add up to the game his parents got him for his birthday...The World. He never had a taste for virtual-reality games, but this one definately dug him a grave.

"The World" MMO
Name: Itsuku
Job: Flick Reaper
Level: 98
Appearance:

Personality: Though he is quiet, he has an "I don't give a fuck attitude." However, when it comes to PKers, he'll often times go on a blood spree. He has faith in those he party up with and believes in strategy.

Returning characters are a go. I mean think about it. In the first run through with the rp, everyone was in highschool and after highschool there is college so...If you want it's ok with me.



Well to make things reasonable I would say they are. A character whos level 15, for example, can't put up a lengthly fight with someone whos level 25 or 30. In some point in time during that battle, the lowest character just has to accept the fact he or she will be PKed. But also notice I didn't say that the lowest character couldn't put up a "good fight" now. Just know your limits, basically.

.Hack is just the name of the anime series, nothing more...I don't think...Satou...backup? =/
Edit: I take that back dude. Just read up on it. Apparently, .hack is the final mystery of The World.
The term .hackers are people who solved the final mystery.

Biography: Born as a military brat, he has lived in Japan for almost 11 years. He played the original world as a Wavemaster, then again as a Blademaster until finally he grew out of it, just in time as the Twilight incidents occurred. He found out about the World R:2, and decided to save up for it. He hasn't regretted the decision.

.hack is a mutli-media conglomerate that spans video games, anime, novels, manga, movies. The group from the original 4-game series of .hack is known as the .hackers for "having solved the final mystery of the world". This refers to combating the Eight Phases of the Wave, and defeating the A.I. that was corrupting The World and spreading havoc to the real world. They became so famous that C.C. Corp decided to incorporate them into The World's backstory in R:2. That's about as simple as I can put it. lol

Also, Scriptless, this is gonna be in a college environment and you're a little too young to be in college or to be a Game Master unless you can come up with a reasonable explanation for it.

Personality: Depends on who's playing the character. Saki is rather quiet and reserved while Basil is a cocky, hot shot. They play the game for fun, hoping nothing weird happens again, and are in charge of a guild called Light Bringers.

Personality: The type of guy who can just sit and listen, but he is by no means silent. Pretty cocky when it comes to school work. Very mellow and doesn't stress out too often, even when faced with what should be a "big" issue. Very honest, to the point of being harsh at times.
Biography: Still considers himself to be a geek, seeing as he continues to log onto the world every night, but other then "The World" and the odd game every now and then, he doesn't really game anymore. His old character was "Corrupted" due to some past events, and he now plays as a new character, his old contacts do have his new member address though.

Apearance: A tall lanky character, with long blue red hair, yellow eyes, wearing tight dark purple armor, with white and gold trim, his wave pattern forms a target on his left eye in white.

Personality: Very laid back, can be very cold at times though. He seems to view himself very highly, and enjoys the "beauty" of the game. Gets a kick out of killing both PKs and PKKS.

Huzzah! Another returning character. Are you gonna be in the guild with me? lol You are one of the founding members after all. Technically, my real world character is a different person now but six years seems reasonable to me. Of course, I'm not the GM this time around so it's not my call.

Due to the fact that we have no clue what happened in the other rp after a point, a say my characters old profile got currupted with something, plus with the adept rogue point system (which i didn't know at the time) my in game character was better then he should of been.

Maybe having the adept rogue point thingy up might be good?

Sweet. I'll probably have flashbacks to the story during some of my posts. I had a pretty good idea of where I was going to go with the story but it never worked out. This might shed some light on what happened. Also, even I'm not familiar with the Adept Rogue point system. I'm sure it's out there somewhere but I dismissed it as trivial when I first heard of it. I think Haseo had like 2 points in Dual Blades, 1 point in Broad Sword and 1 point in Scythe but in the game you were able to take all weapons to the maximum skill level of 10 and you seemed as effective other party members of the corresponding jobs. I.E. Haseo had all the same skills as an Adept Rogue that Alkaid had as a Twin Blade. So I don't think it's really necessary but again, not my call. I'm just a self-appointed advisor. lol

It also stated that the job classes raise slower for adept rogues, so they don't get abilities as fast, however one of the job classes will level faster if used more often (That is common sense + what I did in GU )

So they could probably learn all but the final skill for thier classes. Weither we do that or not, is up to spirit master of course.

Everyone gets 3 jobs but you have to do special quests called Job Extensions that are available during a limited period of time for an Adept Rogue to tackle to unlock their 2nd and 3rd. The reason why I advice against it is because in the last RP people had expressed concern about statistics getting in the way of casual RP'ers. We never kept track of things like money, HP, experience, items, equipment, or anything. It was all done at the individual's discretion and no one abused that system so we stuck with it. We could go with the point system as long as everyone playing an Adept Rogue is comfortable with it.

Nah, it's fine then. But I think levels should be kept track of for other players info and when they've completed a Job Extension quest...if we have them for limited time xD

Description : An avid player of MMO's always favouring the healing support classes, he often creates feminine characters and can often be passed off as a girl in game which he some times uses to his advantage by getting guillible guys to give him items or money. He likes to plan out escape routes and ways to make some fast cash and often finds himself the target of Pkers and scammers because of this. He is willing to help any one regardless of who's right or wrong and often favours diplmoacy over raw power. While not in the world, he studies game logics and games design and often sends applications to CC corp to try and get a job there.

Yeah, people should post something like "Alright!" Borealis yelled and grinned. "I just hit 142!" or something. And it wouldn't hurt to update your bio with your new level. The way Job Extensions were handled in .hack was that C.C. Corp would make an announcement about the quest and it would be open for say a couple weeks before closing and then you would have to wait awhile for the next one to open up. I'll leave it to Spirit_Master_X to decide on how we're going to do it for the RP.

I like this idea better. Ok, how about this. In some point during the rp, the Job Extension quest will be posted on the forum or be massed to all players via post message. If the quest is completed then update your bio. Haha, it's all going to be good.

Alright I'm about to start the rp. When it starts it will be move in day. Yep, the first day of college. I'm not really sure how the roommate thing will work. I guess somewhere in your post mention what room number you're in on what floor and...I don't know I guess someone else will pick up on that? I don't know.

adept rogues can use more then one weapon though, so yiou could use a scythe plus more!
unless you just wanted a scythe, in which case it would of made more sense to be a flick ripper.

Indeed, they can use up to three. I want to say something about levels though. Everyone signing up seems to be mid- to high-leveled, which is fine. But no IC "noobness" will be excusable. It wouldn't be realistic say if my character had questions about how the battle system works. Just wanted to point that out and say that if you do have any questions, ask them here OoC before posting and I will do my best to answer them simply.

Yeah, if you're mid to high-leveled your character should already know the rundown. I too will be here to ask any questions.

It makes sense for those from the last rp to have high levels, 6 years of playing would explain getting near the level cap. (I think it was 150?) I wanted to mention levels too but didn't want to seem like an obsessive nag (there is other things i could go off on right now too.)

And scriptless, I ment weapon type, not the name of your weapon, it is expected for a gm to have a unique gm weapon

I have forgotten some things about .hack over a while, I watched hack sign and played one that involved a main character called Kite.
So for one, is the RP going to involve AIs?

I can't answer whether or not it will have A.I.s, we'll have to wait for Spirit_Master_X to get back. But if you have other questions about the series, don't hesitate to ask and I will answer.

The guy in black clothes and white hair? Yeah, that's Haseo. My RP's timeline was originally going to coincide with G.U.. Ovan played a key role and I had planned on having cameos of other characters but it died before I could flesh out most of the plot. This RP appears to be taking place 6 years after mine so while we're using the version of The World from G.U., it takes place after the G.U. timeline.

AI's? Nah. We can do without.

On the second day is when classes start. I'm not sure how this is going to work so I may need some advice from anyone.
