You need to import the images.
Press F10 to bring up the materialbase, then select the folder on the left that you want to place your image ("Characters", for charactersets etc.)
then click import, find the image and click ok, it will bring up a imageview with the background of the image as you set it (in this case white)
now left click on the background colour and click ok. now its ready to use.

2 Things can be done here.
1 would be going up to tools>options, and setting the custom transparency setting to white.
The second would be to get an editing program [a good free one being Gimp 2] and delete the background
...Or you can try LegACy's method.

double thnx to the both of u but i already kno that. with legacy`s suggestion, thats what i do to import the files but they rnt like normal rpgxp jpeg so they don giv me the transparent option. the moment i enter the file the open box clears and it restarts to the normal process. for the app edit part, i installed a photo shop which im still learnn to use. ive learned tons of ways to improve pics but dont know how to avoid white backgrounds. my problem is i need a quicker solution than editing 79 pics

To get that option for the transparent background thing when you import the files I think they have to be .png files. Photoshop should have no problem saving the files as .pngs instead of .jpegs since even Paint can =P.

thats what i meant, i converted the files to png but they need editing to b fully transparent. i get the transparent option now but when i use it only bits fade from the white part. should i just use the white backgrounds or is there another way?
woah, found xactly what i needed. the photoshop magic wand and color burner. for anyone else this could b a simple way to make your own creature graphics.0
