A friend is having problems playing my XP game they downloaded. They keep getting the error 'RGSS Player has stopped working.' upon starting the game (after the screen goes black for a few moments). They have a brand new computer with Windows 7 on it. These are all the things he's done already:
-Installed and ran the program as adminstrator
-Ran the program in all of the compatibility modes (95, 98, 2000, ME, XP and Vista with all the service packs)
-Uninstalled/reinstalled the program
He's checked several times to make sure the game downloaded in full, and it did, yet he keeps getting the 'RGSS Player has stopped working' error every time he starts the game.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

You can search this thread
for your problem. It is for Vista, but VIsta and Windows 7 is almost the same.

Thanks for your response. After checking that link, most of the solutions that were mentioned were already tried and failed each time. I had already verified that the ini file said Library=RGSS102E.dll and the dll file is in the game's installation folder, as well.

That sure is a problem... Hmmm... I have no idea. I guess we'll just have to wait for someone else to post. But I will continue to search for an answer.
Or no! Wait a bit. Where do he start the game? From the editor or from the Explorer.
My friend have that problem with his Vista. When he tries to start the game from the editor, just the same thing happens.
When he starts it from the Explorer, it works fine.

What do you mean? He's starting it like a normal game. The game itself is a compressed RGSS data game, so he has to click on the EXE file to start it.

MAN! I need to read better! Aw well...
It was just that my friend has Vista and it says that the RGSS player have stopped working when he starts the game in debug mode directly from the editor, but it works when he starts it through Explorer.
Sorry, then I don't know anything, but I'll come back if I find something...
