Full Version: Transferring Maps?

Hello there, RPG Fanatics!

I am at the very beginning of a relatively massive project for RMXP; a project that was originally being designed in RM2k3.

Anyway, in 2k3, I had the world-map for the game all but complete. But, of course, once I realized I could do much, much more with RMXP than I ever could with 2k3, I began the process of rebuilding my project in XP.

So, I am wondering, could anyone show me how, or possibly find a way, to transfer a map from 2k3 into XP?
I already have a program to transfer the tileset itself into XP format, but I really, really do NOT want to rebuild the entire world map from scratch.

It's a very beautiful map for RM2k3, and I just don't think it would turn out quite as beautiful if I had to attempt to rebuild it square for square from scratch.

So, if anyone knows if a map from a 2k3 project can be transferred into an XP project, please let me know.

Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from someone soon. smile.gif

I personaly havent seen anything like it before, ill keep an eye out for you, and doo some searching. But so far im kinda thinking your going to have to make it from scratch.

Or you can make a capture and import it as a panorama. Well, you'll still have to define the passabilities from stratch, I'm afraid...

Yep, like the others have said. I don't think it's too possible right now to transfer you map from 2003 over to XP. You may have to do it from scratch, but hey, that's the fun part right?

LOL I guess you're right, it was rather fun to make. I didn't really think it was a possibility seeing as I searched and searched and found zilch.
But I thought I'd post on it anyway.

Now here's another question:

How do you think the tileset from 2k3 (not the standard worldmap tileset, this one that I've modded) will look in comparision to the tilesets that come standard in xp? I like the tileset, but I feel like it will clash with the more detailed tilesets of xp. Or should I attempt to rebuild it using an XP worldmap tileset?
(The only real pain about this tileset, is that mountains have to be made piece by piece, as the mountain is too large to fit into an autotile, which is a pity because they're about the prettiest mountains I've come across.)

Here's a link to the tileset itself, which has quite a few added tiles, so you can see for yourselves if it will clash too much:
(This is the 2k3 version as I haven't ripped it over to XP format yet)

Customized Tileset

Thanks!

Its a shame youv'e had to get as far as this, but yes your'e going to have to start from
scratch I'm afraid. The upside is, your'e working hard to make things happen.
Looking at the 2k3 tileset, its going to clash big time with the rmxp rtp sets. There's some
nice ones to pick up for xp such as Inquisitors for example.

In fact, if you really feel up to it; why don't you grab all the tile sets from 2k3 and reformat them to fit the XP criteria. That way you can still use the Tile Sets, but you will likely have to either find 2k3 sprites changed into XP character sets. Sorry if that was a terrible explaination, I'll detail this if you want.

No, I understand what you mean.
Although i really don't want to downgrade the graphics... thanks for the suggestion though.

See, my project contains a fairly basic character creation process, for which I've made a total of 96 combinations (48 each for male and female, including four hairstyles, four hair colors, and three eye colors for each) for the outcome of your main character's appearance.

Of course they're basically franken-sprites I've made using the XP RTP. Between Character Maker XP and MSPaint, I believe they've all turned out rather nice. I only wish I had a Visual Equipment script that would be compatible with Enu's Tankentai Sideview Battle System along with the other scripts I'm using, then I'd be all set; and this project would be much more than I ever thought it could be.
Currently, the created main character will have a set outfit, that only changes based on your gender selection.

Anyway, if I were to do as you suggest, then I'd be forced to re-create the entire array of character possibilities. After all the weeks of work I've put into them, I prefer not to do it all again.

Once again, thanks for the suggestion!
And by the way, if anyone knows of a visual equipment script that may be compatible with these scripts, please let me know!

Here is my Current Scripts Database, maybe there is one compatible.

Thanks!
