Welcome to my new art topic, i thought it would be a good idea to make a new one, mostly because the old was filled with drawings i thought looked horrible. I wanted to take a deep breath and then start thanking everyone who helped me improve by posting on my old thread, you guys/girls all helped me a lot to get where i am now, and i am ever "Oh so thankful". Weren't it for the help of all of those people i'd probably still be drawing like this.




But i send thanks for everyone for being now able to draw like THIS.



Anyways, getting off the whole "Thank you! Thank you!" part, what are you guys opinions on the newest drawing? Opinions? Suggestions? I'm all ears

legs are quite square and blocky, maybe a pattern or some folds in the trousers to even them out... Shading?

Just looks odd with a two blocks coming from (her/him?)

Other than that seems good. Would be interesting to see some patterns like...

Lol yeah feel free, sorry about the legs, i pretty much focused only on the torso so i barely gave any attention at all to the legs >.<

I remember how you drew a year ago, and looking at your newer art, I'm too impressed for words.

You've made ALOT of improvement.

Looks like niscp is growing up to be such a good artist.

I wish I could say the same thing about my music, I haven't really improved at all.

WOW, Nescafe! Look at that! You're certainly growing as an artist here, I must say that I'm thoroughly impressed on your development : D BUT, what impresses me even more is your openness to comments and suggestions!!!

Really though, I love your attention to detail in the design :3 I hate when some people add design to outfits that really are just random lines and patterns thrown on there that really don't relate to the outfit itself, it really doesn't look impressive lol but the details you added there look absolutely fabulous, especially the shoulder pads! Love the hair and hair color! The lines are super smooth, which is AWESOME, and the coloring is nice and smooth : D You've come a long way bud!!

As for suggestions, keep practicing at anatomy, and I'd say try... How to say it... Personalize your faces??? Like right now, it's a general anime style which is certainly great, and I used to get pissed when people gave me this advice but LOL after finally following the advice I'm very grateful to those who gave me the advice. Try playing around with the facial features though. Instead of just plain lines for the eyes, try adding some detail for your own personal touch. Instead of just a line for a mouth try adding a bit of detail, even if it's just a line below to indicate a bottom lip! Instead of just a check mark for the nose, try adding some nostrils maybe or something, anything to make the style your own :3 And lastly, the hips, I actually drew a pic cause I dunno how to describe it thoroughly LOL I would just angle the hips more. Right now they're very curved, like ) ( when really there's more of an angle there, like

Thanks Homu, yes, i know about the personalizing thing, actually, i'm having issues however finding something to add on that i like. By example, when i tried to add more details to the eyes, i end up getting details wrong and then they look like crap D=

About the hips...Uh...Yeah. Sorry, but...I don't really get what you're trying to tell me, i only make my hips more angled like that when i'm drawing women...>.<

For those of you who read what i post at the RPing forum, you should know that i'm planning a S4 League RP, one of the first things that came to mind was thinking up of my own character. I took advantage of the oppportunity and decided to make eyes more detailed as Homie suggested...So...Here you are, ladies and gentlemen. Adrian Ainheart.

I've seen your stuff, and i gotta say i do disagree. I really like that second character you put on your topic's first post, you know, the egyptian looking one.

But, onwards to your question, well if you ever feel like actually doing that just PM me and tell me what would i have to do, (Never collabed before...>.>) i'll be more than glad to give it a try.

I've actually been meaning to ask you Nicsp, how do you colour pencil drawings on paint?
Cause I can never get it right and yours always look very well done (see how I threw a compliment in there)

And thanks for the compliment, what i actually do is, i get the drawing, scan it (Obvious so far XD), and then after opening the image the first thing i do is put a layer over it, and then i start using the line tool and eraser only on that layer to draw over the pencil one. After i have copied over the whole drawing from the scanned layer to the digital layer, i delete the scanned layer and start colouring the digital layer. Does that make sense? I'm not very good at explaining stuff, so if you want, just ask me and i'll make a few pictures to explain it better.

found a guide online that works but needs ink lining, so I'll try this way, so you just select shaded areas yourself?

I don't really understand what you're trying to say...?

I first colour everything in it's base colours, i then put a semi-transparent darkened layer over the shaded parts using pretty much the same strategy from lining...XD

Your female character looks absolutely beautiful, and this most recent one is so impressive! Hey guys! More Adrian!



Not finished, i will colour it and post the coloured version probably sometime next week, after i'm done with my birthday festivities and crap and am done with all my tests. I am aware the pistol looks utterly horrible, i plan on buying an encyclopedia that contains pictures and explanations for pretty much all of the types of weapons that have been created up until now, that should help me improve a little bit more on that area. For those of you who wonder why did i put his arm on that position, it's because i'm going to make him be carrying something in there after i edit it in Paint.

I must say, I'm very impressed with your development as an artist. If you looked at the first image and compared to the later images in your post, you wouldn't say they were done by the same person. This must be one very supportive art community here at RRR.

I look forward to seeing your progression into the realm of the artistically and creatively inclined.

Two new pictures, the first is the coloured version of my previous post and the second is a re-attempt at one of the characters that can be seen on the first page (Tried to make her look a bit older)

The first picture looks fine to me expect the right hand thumb.
As for the second picture, I notice that the angular face gives me the impression the character is male...I know awkward.

Overall there pretty good, maybe better than my character art. Lol at the fumbi xD

Yeah i know what you mean about the faces, but she's supposed to be a kind of a tomboyish person so it's ok, lol.

Edit:
I draw them normally by pencil and then scan them, then in Paint.NET, i make a second layer above the original image, where i copy all the lines from the original drawing, i then delete the original layer (The one with the drawing on paper) and start colouring it.

I have a topic bashed somewhere...but I don't think I'm ready to post my character art.

Another point of advice, it looks kind of weird to me if you shade the hair and the rest of the character is solid.

Some of the stuff i have been bombarding my tablet with, i've actually done a lot more than this but they're mostly doodles and sketches (And are also several, seriously, i made like 30 drawings in 3 hours...) so i'll just post here the ones i thought that looked better.

Hey, don't feel lonely guy. Seems like there hasn't been much traffic
in the last few days. I posted a submition in the Art challenge thread 3
days ago, and no one's even bothered to tell me it stunk. I like your stuff,
though. It all seems familiar, not in a copied sort of way, though. I'm sure
others may have said this to you before, but your clothes could use a
little work. I see you like to use clean lines, and that's alright, but aside
from wetsuits, clothes are hardly ever form-fitting. That really doesn't
matter though, all that matters is what you think of your work. Don't
become discouraged just because no one praises your work.
All that aside, I have some work to do myself. I rarely make it past
the doodle stage when I draw. In fact the only thing I've drawn
in some time is in my spoiler. Not exactly a masterpiece, but it made
me snicker when I drew it, so I think it came out fine.

Hah, yeah, clothing movement/frills/whatever is what i tend to have most difficulty with. I'm not really good at that kind of stuff, probably in big part due to the fact i started out drawing mostly warriors and such using only plate armor, wich yeah, only has deformation if it's like smashed up or something. I'm not discouraged or lonely or anything. >.< I was just kinda "Grr..." because no one had said anything in here for about a month and i completely love hearing what people think about what i do, either if it's good or bad. Good oppinions make me feel proud of my work and make me want to make more, bad opinions make me a tad sad but also tell me where i should improve so i'm good.

About that drawing you posted...It made me lol. Is that an eye popping out of the plant in his/her/it's head? That's so full of win XD

Uhm, yes it is. I was going to show you something else,
but when I flipped through my sketchbook he popped out,
so I figured I'd let him(Her?) out.

Acctually, if my memory serves me right, It started as something
cute, but after i finished the eyes, my mind went blank, and when
my mind goes blank the wierd stuff hiding in the corners of my
brain escape. It's lucky that I do like Glue, or it would of been
filling for my garbage can.

I recommend you keep practicing with photoshop, I for one love it, though I've never drawn anything using it.

I just kinda... edit...I'll post some stuff some time and you'll see what I mean

Eh...I dunno. Photoshop feels a bit weird to me. It's just so many brushes and tools that i don't even know what they're for...Sai is considerably simpler, imo, and for some reason it also feels like it has better control for drawing than photoshop. Maybe it's just me but oh well. x.x

well like I said, I don't draw on photoshop, but the filters and editing tools are definitely a step ahead
Still, I took a whole bunch of tutorials and still suck (for my age I'm good but... Well that means very little).

It's quite depressing that in art, whenever someone is in trouble on photoshop, they call for me and not the teacher...
... Meh, who am I kidding, I love it

Regardless, it's fun once you pick up some experience... That's all there really is. I've memorized dozens of little tricks which are effortless but give really nice results. The first one I ever found is on this site (spiral background type thing).
I went much further than that in some later graphic work though
Anyway, I find it enjoyable for photo-editing and graphics work, but for drawing you'll just have to try and get used to it

Wow, quite a significant improvement since I was last here. I see you starting to use guidlelines as well. That's always a good thing. You should see what my drawings used to look like when I just decided to draw without those little lines. I can show you one of my more recent art pieces, of you like. I've never started an art thread yet, mainly because of the fact that all of my pieces happen to be fan-related. You know how people are about that...

I've been using guidelines for all of my drawings up till now, it's just that i erase them later, lol. And yeah, i can understand that, lol, i started off drawing by making copies of Pokemon XD

The long neck was actually just a little slip that i always seem to do every now and then. I've seen your art on the screenshot thread and other things you posted before, it all looks very good and you have a very interesting style. You really should open your own art thread, even if it's fan-related all of it is still pretty good and i'm sure you'd receive quite a bit of attention.

Anyways, i've been playing around a bit more with Photoshop, here you go peeps.

It looks more like you're leaning on a flat wall... Also the tree and rock and sky have too little detail when compared with the leaves and grass.

I do like the effort definitely, especially since you're using photoshop (I noticed)

I actually was going to make the second picture in a city but i changed my mind...I can't remember why now, though. And yeah, while i do think that SAI is better overall, photoshop is better for backgrounds, i think, considering this was my first attempt at doing any kind of background, i'm better at making characters >.<

Interesting news flash?

That first picture (Paolo & Francesca) alongside with a few others i'm yet to make are going to be published in a book, a story written by my literature teacher based off Dante's Inferno, who will also have a play made of it, in wich i'm going to act. Yay.

I've also been thinking of writing a manga or something, hence why i'm starting to practice backgrounds.

I look forward to seeing what you're capable of in the long run

And if you ever need a random poster for a wall of something, I could probably supply a psychedelic pattern of some kind

Oh...Lol. Okay =D I haven't decided anything major about the comic yet, all that i've decided is that i'm going to make it based off the Mass Effect RP. I think i'll make a comic of my character, Tyler, before the RP started, meaning, while he was still working in C-Sec. It should be interesting. It'll be like a sci-fi police story o.O

Also, could you post some unedited pictures sometime, or just colored without backgrounds I like editing pictures but don't have the skill to draw my own characters

Something i did for a school project, the left half is me and the right half is my character for the World of Alsta RP, Oliver. This was something very quick, so yes, i'm aware it looks bad if compared to the last faceshot i posted.

To tell the truth, after i was done with the MC's picture i mentioned before i was thinking of doing something with the MC (Any name for him yet?) and Chase copying this picture's style.
