im kinda new to VX but the game i am working on is going to be rather long and i was wondering if the game will lag if i cram too much into it. so if it will would i be able to make like a disk one two ect and be able to transfer the players saved games from disk to disk or something?

i don't really get what you are asking for, but the save files appear in the game folder as "Save1" and "Save2" and so on.

Do you mean at the end of "Disc One" you can create a save file, and the game ends. Then, you load up "Disc Two", load the save file from the previous disc and then continue your game?
Unfortunately, I haven't an answer for this, but if this is what you mean, then I'm sure you'll gain necessary help from another user. I'm sure it must be possible though as to how, I do not know.

Length should have no impact on lag. Cramming lots of events into huge maps will have a bigger impact. How long is this game going to be?

First and foremost, that idea is a bad one. Your game will not lag just because the filesize is big; I've never encountered any RPG Maker (even the old 2k/3) which lagged on account of large filesizes. Large maps, on the other hand, will lag.
But, if for some reason you still feel the need to make a multi-part game, it's still a bad idea, because each part needs to have every single thing the same. All the same scripts, in the same order (I found out from experience that adding/removing/switching scripts makes a game save not workable). You'll need the exact same switches/variables/weapons/equipment/items/etc, all assigned to the same number. You can always add more of these things, but you cannot subtract or change.
In short, it's just not feasible. But it certainly is doable if you're really that desperate for headaches.
