Full Version: C&C- Pallet Town & Route 1 Tilesets

These are my first tilesets. I ripped the sprites from Pokémon Red and scaled them up 2x
I'm mainly looking for critique on the layout of these, since it's not great at the moment and if I decide to make more tilesets I want to make sure they're easy to use.

I didn't cut the houses up since I wasn't sure where some of the tiles begin and end, but you can probably cut and paste bits using this anyway. The green and purple tiles are there for me to put extra stuff in and so I know where the 32x32 squares are. It will work fine in a project if you set the green to transparent.
Oh, I also didn't really know how to make the water into an autotile, so it's a static sprite at the moment. Pallet Town doesn't have a south side to the water, so I left it as it is for now.

Pallet Town+Route 1
I put both of these together because they're fairly similar. If you want to stick some houses in the middle of Route 1, be my guest.
EDIT: Just realised that where I put the ledges has gone over one pixel of the roof that was sticking out of the square. Here's the plain Pallet Town set for comparison. I'll fix this when I get around to it, but for now use that one for the town set.

to make an autotile is pretty simple, create an image that is 96x128 pixels, and then add 96 pixels to the width for each additional frame

thought about colouring the tiles?

No, these are from the original Pokémon Red and Blue which didn't have colour (although if you played it on a GBC it would have tints to it). I like the monochrome style better anyway.
Holder
That would look quite nice in a old style game boy colour pallet though it is your choice overall.

You can always check here for the auto-tiles.

Thanks for the links, they're really great.
