I saw a particular rm2k3 project in youtube and downloaded the demo. I saw that the demo itself is compacted into one large file and that it can't be accessed into the rm2k3 editor.
Here is the video and the link to his game:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f467M_ev1nASo my question is what program(s) do you people know that is capable of encrypting rm2k3 games? I have tried googling and everything but nothing came out. I also tried to PM the game creator in youtube but hasn't responded for about a month already.
I know that there isn't one provided in 2k and 2k3 even though you made a game disk for your project. And I am sure that a program is being used to lock this game.

There are two ways you can encrypt your files (both methods in which I use to protect my own stuff):
# 1 - Molebox: You can download a free trial, or I suggest breaking the bank and buying it! You can put all your files into a single EXE file (MAKE SURE EVERYTHING --- AND I MEAN EVERYTHING --- IS IN THERE, OTHERWISE IT WILL NOT WORK!!!) and this will make your game encrypted by the masses because everything is hidden, and all there is left is just a single EXE file. I like this method, because it can also reduce your file sizes, and make everything more smoother to run.
# 2 - Rm2k Utility: Another great patch, which will allow your game NOT to be run in the editor for anybody that is snooping around. This is free, and there are a lot of sites who have the patch available *cough cough GAMING WORLD COUGH*
Make sure you backup your files, and test it on other machines before doing any of these methods! ^^

Okay... I used the RM2K Plugin Utility and chose Rast's RM2K/RM2K3 Project Protection Plugin and chose a test project... once it was done, I tried opening up that project in the editor and says "The Map Tree Data is Corrupt" but the game is still very much playable... Is this how Rast's RM2K/RM2K3 Project Protection Plugin lock the games? Or should I say, Is this correct already?

It's been years since I have even used one, but there are free programs in existance that will pack and compress (like RAR and ZIP) your files into a single encrypted executable which will deflate and execute itself in memory like normal.
It is quite possible to still modify it, but the means are far beyond the average user.

Yes, that is the correct way how the RM2K Plugin Utility works. ^^
Molebox does the same thing, but it just hides all your folders like "Battle, Music, Sound, Etc.," from being seen by others.

Would that program also work on Rm2k3?
I'm assuming yes...

Yep! There is a feature for rm2k3 projects as well.

This is very easy to "decrypt". IIrc, it's just renaming all graphic files to "xyz" and executing a program like Map Tree Creator to crate a new rpg_rt.lmt file.

Hmmm... I'll see if my "encrypted" project from the 2k utility can still be reopened... after watching the last post, I see that there are various methods that can reopen the map tree data break... I'll edit this afterwards...

This is why I use "Molebox" afterwards. You can hide all your files using a single .Exe and it is near impossible to hack into. But, you gotta pay for it (okay, you can use the FREE version of it, but...I dunno...).

Hehehe... I have an older version of Molebox... and I got a serial number and an alternate email from someone so that the version gets registered... I didn't have to pay for it xD. (If any of you want the link, just PM me... I will show you.)
Anyway, I found out that Molebox indeed was the best method for encrypting the rm2k/rm2k3 games... just to double lock it, I included the rm2k utility encryption as well... Thanks to the members here that helped me with this... feels good to finally get what I want. ^^
EDIT(off- topic): omg... I can't believe Cherry is actually one of the patch maker of rm2k3... didn't notice your name until I found it in one of the topics here in this forum. ^^

I don't know about you or the others, but for me, it is

I got what I was looking for in a long time and am happy about it. (though I should have just kept my feelings to myself... I was too overjoyed lol -_-.)
Anyway unless someone has to mention some more programs on encrypting, this thread can be closed. ^^

It's possible to hack Molebox. I have written a script which will do that for you.
You'll need OllyDbg with the ODbgScript addon installed to execute the script.

Wow... so much for game encryption. Now there's no way to lock up rm2k3 games this time -_-. Does this also work for the latest version of Molebox? Or just the versions 2 and up?

Don't bother with an FBI-strength encryption. If someone wants to hack a game, then a simple wall won't stop them in the slightest. You can either encrypt your game to slow down hackers, or choose not to encrypt it to save the hackers from gaining carpal tunnel syndrome from all the reverse engineering and whatnot. There are some pretty famous people that've hacked RM projects, like vsvsfg, Cherry (I assume), and Midnight Asassin.
