Story
The Start of Time
From the very beginning of time itself; people were hunters. There were four main races. The races were: Human, Elf, Dwarf, and Alphidrites (Alpha-dree-tays). Humans live in castles and cities. Elves would live in forests. The Dwarves would live in little caves by forests. Alphidrites do not live anywhere for they are anything basically. They can shape-shift into a form or thing. They are probably the most powerful race ever. When they shape-shift, they grab all those abilities the thing has, while still able to shape-shift. All four main races were in an epic duel to see who was the strongest. Humans would go and mutilate the elves. Elves would go hide from every other race, and let the elite elves fight. The elite elves would die a terrible death. Dwarves would hide underground and see if they could survive unharmed. Problem is normally Alphidrites would change into a dwarf, and then change back, thus killing the Dwarves. Some Dwarves managed to live. The world was in a war of the main races for at least 38 years. When the war was over; all races were in a very low population. Some were tortured, while others were just killed without mercy. It was a gory sight. After about 84 years later, the races are building back up. They still all dislike each other. They are all basically sworn enemies. The races probably will not cross another race's territory.

The Current Time
It is year 2159. In year 2130, the world was struck when a mysterious creature led the entire world into a war. It wasn't just the four main races; it was every being to themselves. You could not trust many. Any one like friends could back-stab you. Few people created squads of people they know they could trust. The entire world had a gigantic stop in growth. The roads and cities started to age and break. The place is now a huge wasteland. People are also willing to eat the flesh of their own kind with no problem if they must to live.

The Story of Alex
Alex Fren is the main character in the story. He lived in year 2159. Alex Fren was starving, and wouldn't eat the flesh of his squad. So Alex Fren went ahead and looked for food and some fresh water. While walking, Alex Fren saw a mysterious shadow. He decided to chase it. Later he found out, it was one of the few ancient mages. He was fighting the mage, but lost. The mage then teleported him centuries back. Way more than centuries actually. He was in the medieval times. It is 84 years after the great war of the main races. Alex is just lonesome. All alone with no water, food, and lost all future equipment. He only has a few rags of clothing.

Features
Alignment
In this game, you control Alex Fren. Like any other game, you choose your alignment, but in this game, you can thrive for the safety of the world, be neutral and only go for find out how to help yourself towards your goals, or be evil and destroy the world.
Customization (Guaranteed)
It will have customization. Customization such as what kind of clothing you wear. You will be able to customize anything that already isn't there.
Free-world (Guaranteed)
You will have a free-world which means wander anywhere that you can see you can go. Go anywhere that looks walkable on.
Skills (Guaranteed)
I will most likely have skills. Skills will help you get along the way such as climbing.
Guilds
I am planning a thing where you can create your own guild and fight other guilds. Sort of like the Guild Battle in Guild Wars. You can create a guild for a price. That is not all of it though. You can buy a hideout, guild armor, guild cape, guild merchants, and much much more! When I say guild armor, I mean armor that you can customize for you and your guild for a price EACH. A guild cape is a little expansion you can add to all your armor where everyone wears a cape you created in the cape builder. You can buy guild merchants where they will sell stuff for cheap at your guild hideout. YOU NEED A GUILD HIDEOUT FIRST! Creating a guild gives a unique feel to your world.
Banks (Guaranteed)
There will be banks in the game. You can go ahead get a bank card, then go ahead and decide whether to have a password. Once done, you can change your password, input or output money. This is already done, and is guaranteed in the game.

I can see that mapping through your windows, it looks too bare. What's with the random bon fires placed about?

Other than that, your ideas and presentation seem to work fine. I'm digging that skill equip menu you've got there.

I might have to warn you, though, since you are using mostly default graphics, try to make this something close to your own. It would be a terrible idea, for example, to leave the monsters the way they are with the same default stats. It might make more people attracted to this project the more "original" it appears to them.

The castle is on fire. Also, I am creating my own monster stats.

Absolutely yes.
If time is of the essence, and a game is already great, MAYBE you could get away with having no side-quests, but if it's already a great game(Or even a crap one) but you have plenty of time on your hands, then there's really no reason NOT to hve them.

I completely agree with Username? that side quests are very useful within the majority of games and sometimes essential for breaking up the boring and linear gameplay at times - such as mini-games can be used to add a fun element or break up a long story line in the form of a game of hide and seek like in Breath of Fire III for example.

Nice work by the way but yeah i agree you need to make some parts of the game different from the default elements and really put your own mark on the game.

Okay....well said...

So how will the story's layout be done? You said that you finished Dungeon 1, so does that mean it's gonna use the Zelda-style
"Do sum stuf 4 sum gais an den do a dungon 4 anuther gai then go 2 anuher plase nd repeeet"?
Or will it be like a J-RPG?
Or even a Western RPG?

You must go on a treasure hunt for a crystal to help the king.
proudlock
I think what Username? means is that, what is the main layout of the story in terms of - is that you just have the one quest to find a crystal for the king and you are traipsing through dungeon after dungeon doing similar puzzles etc like in some of the zelda games in order to find this one crystal.

Or are you doing one quest to find out the location to an informer who knows the where abouts of the crystal last dungeon and so on and so on - basically breaking it down so it is not one boring, long single quest.

I.e. can you gives us a layout about what happens step by step, i think this is what he meant rather than the above statement.

I wish I could get a better logo, but there is no logo maker around.

Hm this looks pretty good Zinx, the mapping however could use some work, it's a little too bare. I'm liking the skill equipment system and I suggest you make your menu look a little more unique then the defualt. Maybe VX script out there that edits the layout? In any event, this looks promising, the layout of your thread is also well layed out. Keep it up smile.gif

Slots
Slots is the area where you can edit each character's skills and/or magic.

Bestiary
The Bestiary is the area where you can view any monster that you fought. You can get more information if you scan them.
Trickster
Sounds very cool indeed....
are all the features you've mentioned actually finished and in the game, or are some still in planning/development?
Rob_Riv
"Game End" should obviously be the last option, although, it's not really needed at all, if I'm honest.

Also, character ideas and story ideas? Why haven't you thought up all of this? This is kind of your game, after all.

I have a mind where I do better to come up with the story as I come up with it, so no big changes happen to make fans like it more.
By the way, the script does that automatically...
Zinx10
UPDATE: I decided to start the next chapter of the game. I am not gonna say how many chapters there are though...

Thank you for moving! XD

UPDATE:
Well...some problem happened, and I probably cannot work on the game anymore...so I decided that if I ever can work on the game again...I will restart, change the entire story, and do a lot of things.
Zinx10
UPDATE: It has been very slow lately with the game...a LOT has been happening this year.
Zinx10
UPDATE: I got rpg maker 2k3. So I will now restart the game. It will MOST LIKELY be a platforming game, like Mario. But instead you get a weapon like Zelda 2: Adventure of Link.
Zinx10
UPDATE: I went ahead and updated the main post. If you want, you can view some information about the new game.

Good, in my opinion. If that was like an opening pre-start screen movie and led to that, I would say go for it. If you could center the text/choices, it would be even better... otherwise, it just reminds me too much of dialogue choices. smile.gif

I also got rid of the platformer for it started to get really uncooperative and frustrating.

I really like the idea, however, I'm not to fond of the fact that you're a swordsman then go on to be another class. If it were me, I'd do something like this:

Melee
--- Swordsman --- Sword Master
--- Axeman --- Berserker
--- Martial Artist --- Grand Master
--- Fighter --- Knight
--- Thief --- Assassin

Caster
--- Healer --- Paladin
--- Mage --- Elementalist
--- Enchanter --- Wielded Enchanter
--- Necromancer --- Dark Knight

Something of that nature.

Not completely sure of what you mean, but you add that class as a sub-class, and your overall class changes.

EDIT:
Class tree now completely remodeled.

What do you all think about Elder Scroll IV: Oblivion style leveling?
In case you don't know what that is, you do stuff, and for each thing you do, it gets EXP. Enough EXP upgrades that stat. EX)Light Armor. You get hit while wearing light armor, and it gains EXP.

If this idea passes through....it will so far have these upgrade-able stats.

-Strength (Overall ATK Bonus Gain Per Level)
-Will Power (Defense Gain Per Level)
-Endurance (Total HP Gain Per Level)
-Wisdom (Total MP Gain Per Level)
-Sword Combat (Sword ATK Bonus Gain Per Level)
-Axe Combat (Axe ATK Bonus Gain Per Level)
-Hammer Combat (Hammer ATK Bonus Gain Per Level)
-Bow Combat (Bow ATK Bonus Gain Per Level)
-Mace Combat (Mace SPELL ATK Bonus Gain Per Level)
-Staff Combat (Staff SPELL ATK Bonus Gain Per Level)
-Hand Combat (Hand ATK Bonus Gain Per Level)
-Light Armor (Defense Bonus Gain Per Level)
-Heavy Armor (Defense Bonus Gain Per Level)
-Athleticism (Speed Gain Per Level)
-Sneaking (Stealth Gain Per Level)
-Enchanter (Enchanting Gain Per Level)
-Offensive Skills (Offensive Skills Gain Per Level)
-Defensive Skills (Defensive Skills Gain Per Level)
-Destruction Magic (Destruction Magic Gain Per Level)
-Support Magic (Support Magic Gain Per Level)
-Summon Magic (Summon Magic Gain Per Level)

That is a nice small list of the possible upgrade-able stats. There are also possible jobs you can level. What do you all think? You can also suggest stats you wish me to put in.
