Futuristic2 is decent. But you really need to learn to throw in a bass line. I didn't listen to them all the way through, but futuristic1 started out boring and quickly lost my interest.

Piano1 was okay for an aspiring musician... but it needs a lot of improvement.

Dreams was sorta decent.

Maybe some tutorials about arrangement would help. Talk to Exiled One. He should be able to help you.
Isumi
Thanks for your feedback, Abominae. Thx for putting time for listening my music.

All right, I just made another two new pieces today. Look at the main topic. I hope
you enjoyed that!
shadwblitz
Arranged from least to best (In my opinion):

Boss - If you ask me, it's kind of monotonous.
Futuristic2 - I liked Futuristic1 when the annoying part was gone. But at least this one didn't start annoying. :>
Futuristic - The start was kind of annoying to me, but at least it turned average at the middle part.
Dungeon A - It's a nice MID. But I'm really not sure if it's for a dungeon.
Piano - Makes a nice peaceful town's BGM. Cool. biggrin.gif
Dreams - I really like this MID. It's a really decent one! It's better than the rest, that's for sure!

Overall - I'm kinda disturbed by how some of the MIDs start out. I personally think it'd be better if the starting parts were to be shortened.
I apologize if I was too...harsh on the feedbacks. :|

Also, I'm wondering what program you're using to create these MIDs.
Isumi
Thanks for the advice, shadwblitz. I glad you enjoyed Dreams, well; it was inspired by the other musicians as you know.
Looking at your conclusion, It is presumeably true that the my simple-tuned midi won the match.. (The rule is only for me) tongue.gif

I use Guitar Pro to compose midi ;actually, I can't play Guitar. but Guitar Pro fits for me with an unclear reason. sleep.gif

Well, another midis added today, it called : Chaotic Snowland. An orchestral-styled music.
I also make an update of Dreams, just a small add-ons for ending parts. You won't feel twist anymore.
I hope you enjoying my latest piece. thanks!
Nommy
Tuxguitar is a great program and works very much like Guitar Pro. I use both programs because the set-up of Tuxguitar seems to have their instruments named more accurately.

What I mean is that the "Strings 1" instrument from Guitar Pro sounds exactly like the same instrument which TuxGuitar refers to as "Piccollo". And since I know what these instruments are SUPPOSED to sounds like, I can say with great enthusiasm that the instrument set-up in Guitar Pro is mixed up.

Also, if you can afford it, you should get Fruity Loops. It's an amazing program if you can make it work for you.

Tuxguitar is freeware, btw.
Isumi
Oh, thanks for let me know, I never heard about Tuxguitar before. So far I've used Power Tab, Guitar Pro, Sibelius, and Finale. My best bet was Guitar Pro. Sibelius was quite nice, but I have already getting used to composing with Guitar Pro, that was.. odd since I'm play Keyboard and Flute.

In Guitar Pro, the difference between "String 1" and "String 2" is that the String 2 is smoother and softer than the String 1. That's also true that Piccolo and String 1 sound similar, I never feel any difference when I combined both of them. happy.gif
Nommy
The problem is that the piccollo sounds like a piccollo and the strings are supposed to sound like a string section, not one instrument. They do have different sounds, but they still sound like multiple instruments.

So, I arrange my music in Guitar Pro and select the instruments in Tux Guitar.
xmuffin
Music isnt my forte so I cant give any critiques but im liking the Boss mid and the Dreams mid alot, good work.
shadwblitz
You're getting better!
Chaotic Snowland surely doesn't have that disturbing, repetitive start. It's a good BGM, actually. smile.gif

As for name dropping, Cakewalk Music Creator is a nice thing to have.
Oh, and are we allowed to use this for our projects? Of course, credit goes to where it should. :>
Isumi
Heh, thx for all of the comment, xmuffin and shadwbltz.
I was very happy if someone told me that I'm getting better! laugh.gif

Well, these midis are free for all, but you should give me a credit afterwards.
shadwblitz
Thanks. I was kinda scurrying the whole internet for good custom MIDs. I can't make music, and I don't have a team to work with. So thanks a lot biggrin.gif

I'm going to be as blunt as possible. the only way you'll ever learn is by having others be blunt to you every once in a while.

Let's start somewhere simple: The sound qaulity. I know it's MIDI, but by now, most computers can play an mp3 files in RM and not lag. So why bother doing MIDI's, When MIDI sounds sound like, well, hell.

Next thing: LEARN BASS CLEF. You have one song that has anything even REMOTELY similar to a bass line. Songs NEED, and I mean absolutely need two things to be called a song : And that's a bass part and a treble part. Bass clef is not hard to learn, so go ahead and get with it!

Mess with your panning and velocity settings. Volume changes and such add a whole new level to music. When all your notes and instruments can't blend because one is too loud, you need to tone it down.

Next, One of my BIGGEST pet peeves is fullness. Sure, sometimes that widdly emptyness is part of how it is supposed to sound, But if that is not the case, and it shouldn't be, the music should sound as full as the situation. Fill the sound, but don't overdo it.

Now, To the good parts.

Man, can you write a melody. I'll give you that. You had many catchy and interesting melodies inside the music you made, and that is key ability.

So my reccomendation is to keep working on it! You'll be killer at making music sooner then you know it!

Isumi
Well, that's really blunt ohmy.gif But, I appreciate that!
I can convert Midi to MP3 with fruity loops. Midi files are not quite heavy so everybody can download it very fast. wink.gif

And about Pan and Velocity, is one of my main concern about my future music. Thanks for giving such feedback!

I'm sure about fullness, that was a small annoying part maybe because of dissonance or too noisy, and I knew that everybody doesn't always love fullness. I was inspired too much by my idol to make a "fullness" music.

Note : I'm accepting music request for now, up to three request will be accepted. Feel free to ask!
Isumi
MarshmallowOnTop request done. added one new song for his showcase.

Bump.. No request?
colin651
I have a hard one, try to make or rip the music from Dragon Quest VIII Journey of the cursed king. I tried it a while back and failed miserably.
Pal88
Hi, was wondering if you took make some sort of boss music for me.
I'm not the greatest at describing how I would want it.

Just needs to be a reasonably fast tempo with hard beats, like describing in music a heart beat, panic and suspence.

I could leave it up to you and see what you can come up with though if you want. Just adding them as like an example of how I would like the feeling to be when listened to.
Cheers
Isumi
@colin651
I'm not ripping music, if you have problem to rip soundtrack maybe you should google around to find youtube converter. And, sorry.. I really don't understand your request. However, this is sample music that I just converted from youtube :
Dragon Quest - Overture
Do you want me to make music similar like this or..?

@pal88
Great. Request accepted. I'm working on it right now and I'll send PM afterwards.
Thanks!
