Introduction
I've been getting loads of emails these days from RPGers who want to sell their game on portals. The problem is that portals will not take your game unless you have a laundry list of features available for your game. If you are one of those people who wants to sell your game on the big game portals, please use this kit to "Commercialize" your game.
If you are going to sell your game on portals, you need to do the following things first:
1. Add Save System that saves your games to the %appdata% folder.
2. Game must start in Full Screen mode, but player can change this to window mode via a menu option
3. Two splash screens (one for you, one for the portal)
4. Option to turn off music and sound
5. Mouse Support
Don't panic, I've got a commercial game kit for you so that you don't have to program all of these things yourself.
Steps
1. Download Commercial-Game-Script.zip (attached to this topic)
2. Unzip.
3. Copy Utils.dll into your game project. It should appear in the same folder where your Game.exe is located.
4. Copy the images in the Graphics/Pictures folder into your game project's Graphics/PIctures folder (create this if it doesn't exist)
5. Open the Commercial Game Script project and go to the Scripts tab. Copy all commercial scripts into your game. To search for commercial scripts in the script database, click Ctrl+Shift+F and enter "Commercial Script". This will show you the location of all scripts in the script database.
NOTE: It's best to start with this project rather than copy the scripts out of it.
If you have questions, please PM me.

Can't you turn off music and sound by pressing F1 on your keyboard and selecting it, or are you talking about in-game? Anyway, this is a nice contribution.

Yep, you can use F1, but anyone who doesn't use RM wouldn't know that. These are all in game for people who don't know anything about computers and RM.

Splash screens aren't working. I think they appear for like one frame each, and then disappear.

Very interesting Amaranth, i will definetely chech this one out, I had totally forgotten about fullscreen script! Toobad Enterbrain doesnt do updates on XP, theres alot of features such as this that should be included. However this sounds like a nice kit, but i'm lost on what the splash screen is :? could you please tell me what this feature does?
This is handy, however I have something to add to help 'Commercializing' your product. Not all big portals necessarily do everything on the list below, but it is quite an intensive list (With instructions on how to test) and hell, it can be fun to test sometimes =D

This is all awesome sauceyness!
But is there any chance you can get just the full screen mode on it's own? I'm interested in the fullscreen part of the script, I may try to cut it out and paste it in on it's own. (If thats ok with you of course.)

I'll let you know how I get on and if anyone knows how to do it or if it's not possible, drop a comment.
Thanks
Joe

Is it possible to make the fullscreen script so that the game don't get streched? Like when you have it is windowed mode, you see just as normal and in fullscreen mode, you see more of the map. Not streched, just as normal.
I guess that it is not, but it is worth a try.

Thanks for allowing all of us to use this script, but I have a few questions.
What's a splash screen and when I go to save the files they don't show up and I can't load any previously saved files, what can I do to fix that?

Very interesting script, I was wondering how people did this to sell there games, however after seeing this and seeing games on here that are also being sold on sites like gamersgate If I ever see another RM game being sold I will not pay for it I will simpley come here and get it for free .

...Rainblood, Avoyned, or whatever its called. If you actually want to make some money MAYBE you should not have it posted here for free? I dont know just a thought.

Would you be able to make one for VX? o.o

@lato22
I think you are confused. Rainblood and Aveyond are still shareware, even here. There are a lot of great free games on RPG Revolution, but most of them are incomplete or very short. This kit doesn't have any mysterious trade secrets in it. To list a game on gamersgate and other portals, there are certain requirements that a game needs to have. These include things like mouse support, options menu w/audio support, and a load of other little things. This kit ensures that developers meet these requirements.
@Prelude Dikter
I don't have plans to convert the kit to VX (too busy), but if someone else has time to do this, feel free to do this.

Many thanks Amanda.
I have one question though. I am making a more 'retro' game, and the cursor included in your demo is a little too fancy compared to the rest of the game I have created. How would I go about changing that?
Thanks in advance.

I only make little games for my daughter & her cousins to play, but you should have seen them squeeing and jumping around to find a splash screen with their names on it and when they discovered that they can play using the mouse now ~ well, "Epic-ness!" was the much repeated phrase amongst them.

Thank you very much for this.

Amazing kit, Amaranth!
I just have one question though - is it possible to add additional cursors to the script? I wanted to add two more - one to go to a world/interplanetary map, and another to show a door or gate is locked, Arrow7 and Arrow8 respectively.

@Kestal
To add a cursor, just place the cursor image in the Graphics\Icons folder, and add the appropriate comment to the event.
i.e.
@> Comment: Arrow8
To change the default cursor, when you go to the world map, use the script command:
MouseCursor::Default_Cursor = \
"World_Map_Cursor"
And place a file in the Graphics\Icons folder named World_Map_Cursor.png
Or whatever name you want, just make the script command & filename match.
Remember to change it back when you leave the world map.

How could I change the font now that I have these scripts in place? Before I had a custom font and now I can't work out how to change it :/
brewmeister
Jun 13 2011, 02:45 PM
How did you have the custom font implemented before?
You can define the class variables:
Font.default_name = "Arial"
Font.default_size = 22
Font.default_bold = false
Font.default_italic = false
Font.default_color = Color.new(255, 255, 255, 255)
Anywhere. For example, in a script directly above Main, or even in the Main script.
