Getting the error with MSVCR71.dll. Old version of Vampyr Net working just fine with no problems then when I went to upgrade I got this problem. Tried to re-install, same issue. Tried to get a new copy of the dll file, no luck. Anyone else having this same problem and know how I can fix it?

What version are you trying? This is fixed in V1.0.9 or 1.10. I ferget.
Go to vampyrcoders.net and download the latest version.
starhammer1
Alright, after screwing around with it for a few hours it finally decided to work for me. Thanks anyway though man smile.gif

Actually new question now: I don't see config in the scripts area for the client. I got the server up and running now, but how do I get the client to connect with it?
Xzygon
You have to use the launcher and a connection.txt to work with it.
There is no Config script anymore.
Just edit the connection.txt, run the launcher, and play the game. Should work.
If it doesn't, keep editting the connection.txt and re-running the launcher over and over again till it works.
If it still doesn't work, you did something in the server wrong.
starhammer1
Ok, so after trying to get the connection.txt and the server in working order I get it to finally tell me on the launcher that the server is online. I hit start and then I get a black screen with some music in the background and it freezes up. Looked at the connection.txt IP settings, looked at the Port number, made sure that the connection.txt and the server were both using my Hamachi IP because I figured there was something wrong and there isn't. Everything should be working fine.

Tried to go back to 1.9, ran the updater and got the patches needed to fix the Map000 issue, made a new account, not seeing the character on the screen when it loads. Tried to delete the Map000 file as directed in other posts but to my amazement there isn't a file with that name listed. Tried to load game again, same issue, no character after creation and goes to top left of screen.

Since I can't figure out what the hell is going on and following directions EXACTLY as told and as read on these forums and on the Vampyr forums I decided to go to 1.8, which strangely enough works perfectly fine right off the bat with no issues at all.

My question now is if the Visual Equipment work for 1.8, that's pretty much all I really care about right now. I'll figure everything else out later, I just want something to work with now that it seems at least one setup is finally working for me.

The oddest thing about all of this is that 1.9 worked flawlessly when it first came out, I never received the Map000 error, now after a reinstall now it does.

I'm so confused. huh.gif
Xzygon
There is a fix for the Map000 issue (Although, I'm not exactly sure where it is.)

For your client issue, check if your Client Data is working. It should look something like this.
CODE
Creation_Points = 35
LevelUp_Points = 5
Shop_Price = 2
Skills_Classes = Attack,Heal,Special
Chat_Filter = (cuss words here)
Register_Ingame = true

Also, make sure your VXData is fully up-to-date. (Putting the entire Data folder from your client in there)
That, and last but not least, make sure you have a Graphics/System folder in your client.
I'm not sure what else it could be though.
starhammer1
Yeah, everything looks the same as you mentioned. I checked the 1.10 version and everything is as it should be.

*sigh
Xzygon
Hm.....Are you missing any graphics in your system folder? (IE: Title, music, etc.)
starhammer1
Negative
Xzygon
...I'm not sure what else to say. I think I've gone over my list of bug fix resources.
The only thing I can do is say check, check, and check some more. It took over 30 tries for me to start up my game, and even after that there were some bugs that prevented me from using it to its full potention (IE: Can't use bows/arrows, some divide bugs, other bugs I don't like.)
starhammer1
what were the major issues with 1.8 cause that version works like a charm on my system.
Xzygon
There was a Shop/Sell/Divide glitch,
There is no visual equipment based on gender,
PVP is really glitched, (Forgot why.)
Select Characters button is glitched, (Destroys your characters.)
Create Character Window isn't finished,
And like 5 or 6 other minor bugs I can't remember right now. Check the vampyrcoders.net site
for what was fixed, and check the forums for what bugs there were in V.1.0.8

Xzygon

Hope it fixed all of the annoying bugs xD
starhammer1
Yeah no kidding. tongue.gif Thanks Vlad
vladislaus

starhammer1
Awesome, gonna go check it out. biggrin.gif
Xzygon
Hmm, I can't seem to add multiple titles on VNG 1.11. I can do it only VNG 1.09 or below. Does anybody know how to add multiple titles to my game using VNG 1.11?
starhammer1
Hmmm, so, still having the same problem with the client in this updated version as I do in 1.10.

It shows up in the launcher as the server being online, but when I start the game and the login screen loads I can't get the cursor to move around and it seems to be locked up. Tried to edit the connection.txt a few times and checked things out in the server and everything looks alright. I have no clue what's going on.

1.8 still works fine for me though.

Could it be that I'm running XP? I also have an anti-virus running, AVG, could that be causing any issues?
Xzygon
Maybe you're using the wrong database file? THat may also be part of the problem.
Another one is that it's still loading.
And another one may be that you don't have all the files in your client, or one of your scripts don't work with your VNG script.
Or you edited something in the VNG script and it messed up.
starhammer1
I guess it could still be loading maybe.

I didn't add anything, all I did was download 1.11 and unzipped it, set up the IP in connection.txt and in the server and tried to run it.

It's so strange
Xzygon
Try changing both IPs to 127.0.0.1 and see if that works.

Off-Topic :
Yay! 144 post! 144 is one of my favorite numbers!

Edit 2 :
I have a bug with monsters in area. I'd check in the forums for the fix, but I the forums are being fixed right now.

Edit 3 :
Nevermind, I fixed it ;D
starhammer1
I tried doing as you said and the same thing happens.
Xzygon
That means :
-You may have not installed something correctly.
-There's something wrong with your connection.txt

since you used 127.0.0.1.
PathoftheNinja
Vlad, once again, you have proven yourself a god. I can't wait to try it out, well, more or less...
I can't wait to get my new computer to actually turn this old hunk 'o junk and partly my newer one into a server. And... get Windows Excel.
Heh heh...
Well, first things first. Finish my actual game so players have a thought of what to do online.
starhammer1
If it is the connection.txt file I'm not sure why it wouldnt work. I dled it right from the Vampyr site and unrared it into a folder. There was not any modifications done to it or anything. Tried to re dl it around six times now, same issue each and every time.

It figures that I would have so much problems with this. tongue.gif
Xzygon
If it's not working it's a part on your fault, there's nothing wrong with the VNG server (As far as we know.)
I don't think re-downloading it is going to help much.
starhammer1
Alright, so back to using 1.8 again as my setup.

Question: If I decide to make a pseudo-quest system using events, will one player be able to activate a switch and another be able to activate the same switch or would it automatically stay on or off globally once one person were to set it off?
Xzygon
Each switch is for each player only. There are no global switches (Yet)
starhammer1
Excellent
thekillah
the server and sql is online, but it wont let me connect in the client AND it says its offline, even tho its not....
Xzygon
You setup your connection.txt (Make sure it's named Connection.txt) wrong.
manni1238
hi^^
what can players, who have been setted as an admin or a gm do?
are there special chat-commands?
Xzygon
Yeah.
/kick
/ban
/suspend
That's about it, unless you want to script some more.
Scriptless
vampyr's website is down =( I want to try this out sad.gif
manni1238
@xzygon: thanks^^
@all: is the AMMO feature included in the netabs?
and if yes, is there a possibility to make ammo for skills, too?
Xzygon
The ammo feature should be included.
As far as I can tell, there is not a possibility to make ammo for skills.
However, I'm not exactly sure. One of my skills may use ammo, but I forgot which one, and I can't find it either.
manni1238
ok then ill do it with a common event^^
is there maybe a possibility to stop the skill, which calls the common event by the common event?

and is there a possibility to make events, for example for one week you can colect coins and get special items?
koira92
I can't find that MySQL CE 3.5 anywhere from where it's installed, there fore I can't open the Database.sdf :/ Can someone tell me what to do ?
I can run MySQL server just fine but it isn't enough..
Xzygon
You're not supposed to run the MySQL, it's SQLCE. It's different.
Install SQLCE from the microsoft site, and you should be able to run the server.

It's saying something about IIS 5.1 --> Required and Microsoft server 2005 --> Components required... o.o I'll try to figure out what to do.. I guess..
Xzygon
It's SQLCE, nothing to do with IIS (Which is a webserver) or Microsoft Server 2005.

Damn, such a good online project... But so much problems. That battlesystem is WAY to slow, and the whole time this is the rythm:
Got hit but still there's a distance of 3 tiles (WTH?!)
Enemy leaves
I attack but don't hit ANYTHING
Enemy attacks
Enemy Leaves
Enemy attacks
Enemy Leaves
Enemy attacks
Enemy Leaves
I attack but don't hit ANYTHING
Enemy attacks
Enemy Leaves
Enemy attacks
Enemy Leaves
Enemy attacks
Enemy Leaves
I FINALLY hit...

And so on... Really got to find out how to change it pinch.gif
I also keep getting stupid errors with the quest system
I now have:
Script 'Game Quests' line 36: NoMethodError occured.
private method `split' called for nil:NilClass icon_teacher.gif
Xzygon
The system isn't too slow. You didn't change the enemies speed, or your weapon speed, etc. Your accuracy isn't high enough compared to the enemy.
Scriptless
I sent a copy of my project to my cousin, although I told him what to do and everything but according to him the screen is just black and nothing happens after opening game.exe The server was connected, so was the SQL. He has downloaded SQL Compact Edition 3.1 (I use the same and it works for me) So yeah. Can someone help?
Xzygon
What is your cousin using? VNG 1.11? If so, you/your cousin didn't set up the Connection.txt right. Check it again.
