To boost activity here, I'm going to try to start a couple of new roleplays that will start sometime in the next few days.

This would be a good spot to express an area of interest or preference as to the type of RolePlays I start up.

Here are my ideas so far.

-An free-style pass the story adventure. No character sign ups just post what you think should happen next.
- A role play based on an already created universe such as Star Wars, an anime series, or popular video game.
- An original "high fantasy" style role play with a quest line. (I do have a storyline in mind)
- Other??

Please post which one of these would be most interesting to you, some things you'd like to see, or post your own idea for an RP.

We've had too many start up posts that no one joins and RPs that sound promising that never start.
Let's try to fix that.

Funny that you mentioned this, just yesterday i had an Idea to make an RP around here about the game Dead Rising (It's not exactly a new game, but i heard about it just recently and fell in complete love with it).
So, basically, the story would be something like:
"The Zombie virus" has spread further in the world including on a small town called (Didn't think of a name yet ), the seemingly neverending hordes of walking corpses walk the streets and buildings. The few who were not infected have either joined forces to make it out alive, or just weren't mentally able to take something like this so suddenly and have gone crazy.

So, basically, on this RP you would be able to play as either a survivor fighting zombies to make out of this hell alive, OR, you could be someone that due to some random reasons has gone completely crazy and proceeded to killing zombies and survivors alike.

It sounds like an interesting set up but I think it obviously needs a bit more development to be a more playable RP.

Who plays/controls the zombies? Can anyone or only the GM control them?
If anyone can control them the RP will most likely stagnate and become boring. Having one person be the zombie master definitely would add more conflict for players to deal with.

Then there's character motives, there are really only two that you have allowed players to choose from: Evacuate or Go Crazy and Kill everything. It's pretty weak and lessens the appeal for players.
There could be other motives like trying to help the zombies, wanting to become a zombie, having a loved one be a zombie and trying to smuggle them out, etc.
It's best to allow players to make up their own character motives in the game and not limit their roles to two things.

I agree with pretty much everything you said.
The only thing i'm not really sure about is having only one person control all the zombies, i agree it would add more conflict, however, it should be taken in consideration the fact that we're not talking about 50-100 zombies. We're talking about a GIANT HORDE of zombies massing nearly every single place in the whole town. I mean, i could try and take care of it, but i don't think i'd be able to keep look over ALL zombie groups by myself.

Also, of course, anyone would be free to choose whatever they want to do in the middle of a zombie invasion, i just said the two most common ones, there would be probably people who would have ideas like: Making cultist groups about the zombies or anything people's mind can come up with and those ideas are pretty welcome.
That being said, i agree that the idea still needs a bit more development, i did think of it not long ago anyways.
I'm thinking of a few more stuff to add in and waiting until i get some more free time then i'll open it up.
Suggestions are welcome. Seriously.

Controlling a horde could be a one or two person job. They will in a sense control the flow of the RP since zombies for the most part seem to be NPC characters.

Zombies eh? Could be fun

But controling the horde shouldnt be that hard, I mean if they are everywhere, then you bearly have to move them right?
The only time you have to really stay active is if people are attacked or attacking them.

Speaking of RPs, me and my friend have been writing an RP for a while now and have given it many thoughts of being posted here.

I have an idea of a popular anime/video game series rp. Are you guys familiar with .hACK Sign or something like that, it has a really crazy name, where the characters play an online game? Well, I have something like that. Like, in the role-play, there is an event that happens every night around 7 pm up until midnight called The Gamer's Zone, where your character enter the world of the online game. But before 7 pm is when, y'know, your character handles his day duties, school, job, whatever. It's pretty much like Persona 3 and .hAck or whatever mixed together...I always thought that was pretty interesting.

THAT would be one amazing RP. I love .Hack (even though I only had second-rate knowledge about the series).

Well, I like the concept of the .Hack series. I too have only second-rate knowledge. I played the game itself on playstation I think and I trashed it, cause it was so lame lol.

But the concept of the characters playing an online game is awesome.

I suck at action RPs Is anyone else here interested in RPs that deal mostly with character interaction and psychology? I prefer to read about and describe character thoughts and deep true feelings rather than swing a sword at a monster or person.

Would anyone else enjoy an RP maybe like... I dunno', placed in an asylum, and we could chose to either be patients and/or doctors XD or maybe an RP about ghosts and focuses on the mental terror?

A .hack RP would be awesome. I have an almost unhealthy interest in .hack. I own all the games, all the anime, the majority of the books and manga(they just started flooding the U.S. with all sorts of manga and novels, hard to keep up >.>) and not to mention I'm an uber-nerd that's piece together the Epitaph of Twilight and have a better understanding of the overall plot than a lot of people. XD

Muahaha I'm the opposite. I specialize in actiony posts, and are only decent at psychological stuff and character interaction. But hey, that's why we can make kickass posts in the dead rising RP. It focuses on both .

I decided i'd post the idea here before i posted a new topic. So...The Dead Rising RP has been dead for a while. Just the day before yesterday i went to sleep thinking about that and i tought i needed to create a new RP. So. I went to sleep and BAM. I had this awesome idea during a dream. The story will start in the days of today, there's this uber tornado going on outside and a group of students are locked up in a basement until the tornado is gone. SO! While locked in that basement they find a set of D&D books. However, unlike the normal books, those one aren't made of paper (Flesh for the monster book, precious stones for the DM book, and stone for the player's handbook.) So...They decide to play D&D to pass time. The DM rulebook starts making some cool magic shiny effects and next thing they know they end up in a forest.According to player's choice, their appearances and physique change and they gain magical powers in the like. I won't say anything more or i might spoil something i shouldn't.
Summing it all up, a group of teenagers (Always teenagers >.>) gets teleported to a D&D universe with swords, armor, magic, dragons, all that good stuff.
Yep, it all came to me in a dream, in fact, in the dream i was one of the teenagers...I could describe the whole "Epic adventures of Nicsp's dream" but that would take too long. Not to mention, due to my perverted 15 years old mind i would have to censor a few parts of the dream...

FFTA huh? Now that you mention it, it is kinda similar. BUT IT'S NOT THE SAME STORY! It has no connection to FFTA whatsoever. Saying a story is the same as another story just because of a SIMILAR start is just not nice, y'know. I didn't play Suikoden or Etrian Odyssey, but i heard the games had a good storyline so it might work out. Having two rp threads under the control of the same person is not against the rules, but i know from past experience from other forums it can be a serious headache if you don't have the time to look over both.

I personaly loved FFTA, I think a D&D based RP on here would do great on here.

Azure Dreams based RP, anyone who has played it for PS or GBC will tell you it would be good for an RP. Instead of typing out what its like, il just copy the intro that explains it...

A Harvest Moon based RP, might not seem too thrilling but i think it could be interesting...

Might work...If you have an actual storyline, that is. If your only objective trough the whole RP is to simply farm, people will get bored quick and it will die. FAST.

I just got finished watching the movie Sky High and I thought, "Hmm...this could be a good role-play." It's a film about kids who inherits superpowers from their parents. The world in general is pretty much modern day, living a normal life, with the exception of kid's parents doing superhero work, while the kids (us maybe?) goes to Sky High which is an airborne high school. Freshmen are required to take the Power Placement Test, in which the gym teacher (superhero) tests their superpower and decides whether their power is strong enough to consider them either as a hero or a side-kick. Students can also participate in an event called "Save The Citizen" Two teams, each has two people or more (to make it more interesting) can decide whether to be villains or heroes. The heroes objective is to save a manniquin (civilian) suspended from the ceiling by a rope that is continously lowered down into a rotating machine of spikes. The villains job is to defeat the heroes before they can save the citizen.

I've seen this movie for like the 100th time and I always thought that it could be pretty fun. Hell I wish they would make a series out of it =/

OMG, i watched that film, and now that you mentioned it, that would truly be awesome. Don't forget that there's also weird classes where the students learn how to create and deactivate uber weapons of doom and such. XD I totally support this idea.

I don't personally like the idea of a Sky High rp. Reason being, it's almost more or less like X-men, who are more awesome super heroes in school....well, some of them anyways. Anywho, there is a game that's like harvest moon except in a fantasy world called rune factory where you kill stuff with fire.

Just as Nicsp said with FFTA and D&D, they may be similar with all the heroes going to the same school to hone their skills and all, but the stories are entirely different. I don't mind doing a role-play based off of something that is similar to something else, just as long as the story progresses differently than what it is compared too.

Even if it were the same story, as long as it attracts enough people for a good RP, and those people are interested, does it really matter? FFTA or D&D I'd RP either of them, X-men or Sky-high, I'd RP them too. The story is truelly relient on the GM, if they want to be more like the original story or if they want their own story, it is up to them.

Well, I guess I can make the sign-up thread for Sky High sometime tommorow. I would do it now, but I'm a bit tired.

I think a bleach Rp would be great, but it would more then likly require quite a bit of fore thought on the creators half, like what to do about the other characters, when it takes place, ect.

If you want to make one Spirit Master, I'd be more then willing to help you if you needed it.

Actually, if I started the rp, it'll suck lol. I don't really know too much about Bleach. I do, however, catch a few episodes every now and then. I know about the Soul Reapers and I read how Ichigo got his power, through that one SR chick...that's about it lol. I mean, I would rather let someone who actually knows Bleach create it, or atleast someone who knows more than I do.

Yeah, I know right. I don't know when it can be rped since the rp section has been kinda slow lately. About the characters, maybe everyone could start normal who accidently got powers? I don't know...Bleach is kinda huge.

Aight, check this out. I've been watching the boxing match between Buster Douglas vs Mike Tyson for three hours, and so far...Buster is kickin' Mike's ass. So, watching this gave me an idea for a role-play, something different, hopefully. Like, how about an all-out fighting tournament? Now, there will be a general story and a story between everyone's character outside the tournament, but inside, when someone goes head to head against someone, all of those emotions they feel for each other may or may not come into play into their match. Think Street Fighter, or Mortal Kombat.

Only problem is, I don't know if anyone else would like using the same player vs player fighting rules that I use.

So...It would be like an arena? Sounds interesting, it doesn't even really need a storyline for that one.

I've been thinking about the possibilities of a Fallout RP, actually.

On another note, however, i think we alredy have too many RPs currently for the number of RPers we have here. Just saying tough.

For the bleach RP, you could easily set it in an alternate timeline and such as do most fanbased RPs goes out there. I like the idea for a bleach rp. Or a d.gray-man RP.

I thought of a weird and, possibly, good idea.

Think two well received sci-fi stories put together, with their technologies put together, and making one of the stories go into an alternate timeline. If you're curious, I'm thinking of merging East and West, and that means Gundam and Star Wars.

Now, my username suggests that I'm a Naruto fan-boy, but, at this moment, I'm listening to the full first ending of Gundam Seed Destiny. I actually haven't much knowledge on how the two would work, but this is what would happen to the Star Wars universe: mobile suits destroying the Death Star, and Luke Skywalker putting an end to the empire right after the first movie.

Okay, maybe not to that extent, but you get the point.

I am working on a written version of the idea as a story, but I got sort of stuck at the part where they lower the gravity in the Tantive VI's Hangar Bay, because mobile suits don't have repulsorlift technology.

So, apart from the fact that someone else started what I'm working on (and, although he continued his work with a second chapter, I'm adding stuff to his first chapter) and a friend of mine thinks that his writing style is awful and unoriginal, I want to make it better with turning the story into an RP. You guys think it will be any good?

No, actually, I haven't played enough of MechQuest to get a good idea how to understand the story. This is supposed to alternate the Star Wars story beginning six months before the fourth movie chronologically (A New Hope) and help people understand the need of an active alliance between the Sol System and the Rebel Alliance (in-game).

If I make a new topic, I'll help you guys understand what I mean, and that might help with the understanding... did any of what I said make sense?

Also, this is an RP to continue a fanfiction I am writing, so that might have some weird effects.
