Maps 3, 4, 7, and 10 from top to bottom could use some work (Their kinda messy, especially 10 which looks plain and blocky). Anyway, besides that..this game look pretty good. It has potential to be a solid game, hopefully you'll complete this because i can tell a lot of work has gone into it. I downloaded the demo just a bit ago..and after i play it i'll be sure to give you my feedback. Also, should'nt you give credit to the artist/creator of the main characters face sets and character sets?
Personally, I have no idea who made those graphics. They were given to me in a compilation by someone else who also didn't know where they came from. I'm addressing those maps as others on different sites have pointed out the shortcomings too, though mapping isn't my strongpoint. Oh, and I will most definately finish this game.

This game looks interesting but the lag is CRAZY! When i I insert a command in the game (like moving, talking, etc.), it takes like 2 seconds for it to process. I've played many demos and they all work so my computer's speed isn't the problem. I have no idea what can be causing this and I even downloaded the new version. This problem actually makes the game impossible to play, so please help me or fix this problem.

Hes not around so I will adress the issue myself. My computer sucks as well, so I know lag can be a pain. It wont be a problem in the future though (hes already posted on the matter). The problem is that there are events all over the place. There will however, only be important events, rather than events all over the place, in the future. I hope this info helps ya out.

Thanks for the info however i'm not sure that the problem is coming from the events alone. This issue is very apparent even during the opening scenes before you gain control of the character (very noticeable at the actor name selections). The major lag could be caused from a script instead (maybe). Hopefully this helps because this game looks very promising.

May I ask what font you are using for your game? Please PM me and let me know. Thanks!

Icecold: The lag's not from scripts. I've chased it down and it is from events only. On my own computer, the game considerably quickened up after I streamlined the events. Plus, I have 4 Anti Lag scripts now, working together. Lag is a thing of the past.
Kira: It's using Fontlero in the demo. (which is a custom font not included in windows by default). The new version uses Curlz MT.

Why do you need 4 anti-lag scripts at once?
I've never actually looked them up, surely one would be enough?

You'd think, but alas no. Each one works for a different area. Two streamline event processing, one does map drawing and processing and one halts the processing of events that are not active.

I may have missed it but when is Demo V 3 coming out? I recently finished V2 and I can't wait for the next version! Right throughout the demo you maintained great quality in every aspect. Except for the last dungeon. There was only one thing I can say was bad about it. The Encounter Rate. I would literally take 3 steps and get into a battle. It really slowed things down and made me want to close the window as there was the whole issue of collecting the logs and with the constant interuptions of battles, that really made it frustrating. If you could tweak it just a bit in the next demo, I and I'm sure many other players would find it excelllent. Other than that, great demo, the end really leaves you hanging! 9/10

The encounter rate has been dulled and that dungeon has had a few more water puzzles put in. There is no demo V3. The only release after this will be the full version. If I feel I'm taking too long I may release another demo, but what with all the changes I've made to Legionwood, your current save files are not compatible, and you need to start again. But I've redone the intro and all, so no harm done.
As I've said before, I've also changed the font to a less stylized and more readable one, and cut the lag into pieces.
Thanks for playing though. I'll be sure to speed up my work specially for people like you.

Hey everyone! Just me with an update on the changes I have made to Legionwood thus far. Also, the Upperthorne Catacomb map in Legionwood has come 2nd in the 4th RPG Revolution Mapping Contest! (See here:
http://www.rpgrevolution.com/forums/index....howtopic=23842). Current game progress has hit 30%
. The font has been changed from the stylized Fontlero to a new variation of Times New Roman which is easier to read.
. The lag has been cut in half. 3 Anti Lag scripts have been utilized, plus all unnessary events have been removed. All those "This barrel is empty" events are gone.
. Important things to examine and people to talk to are marked with a special symbol above them. This makes it easier to speed through the game if you don't want to spend hours searching and talking.
. The dialogue has been streamlined. The pauses in the text are now cut in half, and the dialogue is shorter to get through in some cases.
. The player is now able to rest in their house in Upperthorne, rather than going to the Inn.
. The intro has been redone. Rather than the crap about your name being the definition of courage and a scrolling map, you get a shorter, but more interesting cut scene that gets you right into the game.
. The encounter rate has been made lower, but as a result, the enemies are slightly harder and drop more experience points.
. A new save system is implemented, which displays where the game was saved, your party status, money, date and play time.
. A new skill advancment system via KGC's APAttribute Assignment script has been put in. Now, as well as gaining your normal level up bonuses, you will gain some AP upon level up, which can be spent on additional stat increases, or hit rate, evade rate or critical rate increases as well. This means you are now fully able to customize which skills and stats your characters have, enabling you to mould the character to fit the style of fighting you use them for. You can now craft skilled magic users or powerful warriors!Phew! And that's it for now! Stay tuned for more updates or the full version.

Wow, all those changes definitely sound awesome and for the best!
I really like the sound of the AP integration as well
Dark Gaia
Dec 9 2008, 06:20 PM
The AP integration is the system I'm most proud of right now. I spent hours balancing it so that you can have direct control over your character's fighting style and prowess, yet you can't get overpowered either. I'll outline how it works.
. You level up and gain some AP. (This starts off at 3, but the higher level you are, the more you get)
. You spend that AP on additional boosts, and the more you spend on one type, the better it gets. (For example a +1 boost to Attack starts off costing 1 AP. Buy that, and soon it goes up in price and effect. For example, after you have bought it 15 times, it costs 8 AP but adds 10 points to Attack.)
. This means as your characters favor a certain type of stat increase, they begin to get more out of it so they can become more geared towards that style.

I dabbled with using that system myself in my own RPG and I very much liked what it was capable of. However I found the problem was it was too easy to mess up a character through allocating stats. Since it's possible to give a mage lots of attack power, the character would suffer in its primary role and be less effective. Granted not everyone would think to do that, but it's possible. If I recall you can give the player the option to reset their attribute points, but still... it's not always best to give a player too much control as it can seem confusing and the chances of crippling themselves gets higher.
That said I don't know how your game is looking right now, so if you think it will work go for it.
I like your list of changes. I for one am very impressed with your response to the criticism given. Thumbs up!
Dark Gaia
Dec 10 2008, 03:24 PM
Though I haven't exactly left it as is. I've also done a few changes of my own to the system, so although it is still possible to stuff up your character's stats, you can now easilly rectify it, allowing you to cancel purchases you made before you cancel out of the screen, plus you get a fair few characters, so if you stuff one up, there's more waiting.

Here's a sneaky hint.
The events of Legionwood are connected in quite a huge way to One Night, my current side project, and my previous project Tales Of Worlds, but I ain't telling you how yet...
l33tpie 6
Dec 12 2008, 06:01 PM
Sounds intriguing. I'll have to download Tales of Worlds and finish it. Hopefully I'll figure out how it's connected when the full versions of Legionwood and One Night come out...
Dark Gaia
Dec 13 2008, 02:36 AM
And that's not all. I'll tell you this. The Legionwood series, Tales Of Worlds, One Night and the Chronicles Of The Fallen series (by my friend Ark Reaver, currently under progress) are all connected in a subtle way, and make up a much larger, overarching storyline.

How can I pass the canal?
l33tpie 6
Dec 13 2008, 06:55 PM
Search around for piles of logs. Make bridges using them to cross certain parts of the canal. Just look around for places where you can place the logs. Sorry for being vague, I'm kind of tired at the moment.

Wow this looks really cool! I really like the font. All the time in RPGMaker games I see people using the same, old, boring fonts. It's so boring! This looks a lot cooler and really shows how much care you've put into this! I like the panorama you used in that last screenshot, too! It makes the whole scene look really epic! I'm totally gonna try this out once I get the chance! ^^

Dec 14 2008, 02:47 AM
Thanks Mizumaster. I'm using a different font now however, and the screenshot you commented on unfortunately isn't in the demo. But enjoy it nonetheless, and be sure to tell me what you think!

No, you put the log in the underground sewer, the one where steam rises from the water.

The "Phoenix Dust" does not seem to work. I thought it can return the character from comatose.
Dark Gaia
Dec 15 2008, 10:09 PM
It can, but not in battle. It's to increase the difficulty of the game. Characters cannot be revived in battle.
@Twinstargemeni: I'm redoing the thread upon release of the full version.

Great update there, Dark Gaia! The front page looks alot better now, the AP system looks quite well done. The new screenshots are also quite a nice insight into the full version of the game. The font is much better, you've managed to keep a similar style to the original one but this one is much more readable. Can't wait for the full version!

Update!
I felt that since RRR has supported this game the most, there is a special bonus early on in the game now for members of RRR only. I have placed a powerful weapon and armor in a chest at the Charn Docks, which requires a code to open. If the player puts in the wrong code, they are told to register to RRR and obtain the code from the first post of this thread. The contents of the chest will make that point of the game a lot easier to get through as the equipment is very powerful for that point in the game.
It's a way to advertise and benefit RRR members at the same time.
I have placed the code on the first post in the thread.
demonlord5000
Dec 20 2008, 11:39 PM
Hmm, couldn't they still read the thread without signing up? As far as I know, this hasn't been set up to where members only can view. On the other hand, any other method you use could end up being a chore.Anyways, thought I should point that out.
Yeah its not, I just signed off to test, and I could view it. I think it would be better if there was some way to hide it to at least force them to sign up. Some people would come merely for the code, and then leave (some people are like that).
l33tpie 6

Hey, you guys are forgetting that I'm a mod. I can easilly make certain posts in this thread or even the thread itself invisible to non members. And even so, even if I don't it at leat encourages people to visit RRR that they may look around a bit while they get the code and might decide to sign up.
Don't worry guys, full version's not far off now! Only five months or so away! Also, expect a new demo soon to showcase the new features.
l33tpie 6

Five...months... >_<" However a new demo is good. Can't wait to try out that new AP system!
Dark Gaia
Dec 23 2008, 03:55 PM
The new demo won't be much. It'll basically just be the old demo with the new features enabled and it will go for about two hours past the point where the last one ended. But all the same, it should whet your appetites more. It should be ready after Christmas, so keep an eye out and get ready! (This one WILL have save file compatibility with the full version)
