Has anybody else caught wind of this? Perhaps you are all still reeling from the effects... the shock. I believe this means that Disney now also owns Indiana Jones.

Okay, I'm on the fence about this. I mean, I like Disney, and I like what it's become. I've grown up on all their movies and cartoons, and they've done pretty well in recent times with their delving into the fantasy genre over the past decade. At the same time, I don't think anybody could be capable of producing anything worse in SW universe like Phantom Menace (knock on wood), or even the awful Indiana Jones KCS film. But that's not saying much, when you're only direction out of a pile of dung is up, and any studio with half a brain could produce better movies than these.

What irks me a bit is that they're going for a completely original story... never mind that the SW universe is chalk full of novels, let alone the highly acclaimed Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn, which does a great job filling in the pieces of what happens to both the Alliance and the Empire following the events of RotJ, as well as the personal quests of our famed heroes (Luke, Han, and Leia), as they all continue to grow.

So what are your thoughts on this, assuming you already heard about this buyout? And for those that didn't, well.... Surprise!

I've always loved Marvel films, and then when Disney bought them out I had become somewhat hesitant to watch recent Marvel films, however they have all been brilliant, in my perspective.
I should think that this will only mean more Star Wars films and shouldn't mean less brilliance. =]
If, however, they really do poorly on the stuffs they come out with, then I'll be much less happy about it. =\
