A couple of noob questions, trying to relearn the system Options

Hey guys. It's been awhile since I've played with RMVX, and I'm trying to remember/relearn some of the finer points of the scripts I have in an old project. First, Yggdrasil; How do I set items/ skills to show up in the Dungeon Actor HUD? My second question involves my Message pop-up script; When I put the text string in the "Script" event command and it takes up more than one line, the carriage return shows up as a box when the message is shown in-game. How do I stop that?

Well I can't help you without the script, but look up 'gsub' or 'sub' for strings.
