I've created an event scenario that is, quite possibly, one of the greatest mini games ever. This is a cooking contest, styled after the ones in Suikoden II. I cannot even begin to describe how to do all this without taking up three pages of text. So instead I have created a demo, and have placed multiple comments in the event boxes to explain how and why I did everything.

Demo: Cooking Contest Demo

You should find everything you need within the demo here, but if you have any more questions feel free to ask or you may also PM me about it!
I know this seems simple, but it's a rather complex event and, imho, a really really awesome mini game. I hope a lot of you use this! One thing to keep in mind, the demo is RMVX but this should work reasonably with any of the makers.

I tried this, and it's quite a fun. Reminds me of the old Suikoden 2 sidequest~
But it'll be nice if you actually could put this into a game, and make some hidden recipes to add for this cooking game. Oh, and what about the scoring secret? Is it random or...?

I actually made this upon request for a member, but I did spend 3 days making it, so I will probably add it to one of my games at some point. As far as reminding you of Suikoden II, that's because it's where the idea comes from. happy.gif

You can add hidden recipes in your own game, just simply need to create more recipe items like I did. I only put in the six because it was just a demo, but it's possible to create as many recipes as you are willing to do the work for.

As far as the scoring goes, I first make them choose a random variable for 'judgement' as 2-8, so that way if they add or remove score based on what you cook it's not above 10 or below 0. Then I look at what I decided was their liked and disliked recipes (Though I didn't put dislike in the demo), then I have a like add +2 for any recipes they like using conditional branches. Finally I add up all the scores at the end of each round, in a separate variable I call total judgement, then at the very end of the contest it adds up the players total judgement and the opponents and compares them, the one with the higher score wins.

I can never make an event using so many conditional branches that links to another event, it's too dizzying biggrin.gif
Haha, ikr! The game itself is a fun, but it's a tough sidequest for Suikoden 2~

By the way, if we're playing a game with so many items in our inventories, like potions, etc, does the event allow us to 'hide' our items on possession and only use the recipe/ingredients? And if yes, how can the items reappear after it's been 'hidden' for awhile?

I did not set it up to hide items, but I suppose it would be possible, something I will look into later.
