I usually have a difficult time explaining my thoughts so bare with me please.

Say I have a map that has a Series of events, conversations, Questions and Answers, Puzzles, etc.... Lots of stuff going.

Now, all of that is basically all for the same general purpose and they all sort of occur together.... everything's interconnected.

Now, I can do this as a series of cascading Events easy enough.

Or I could do all of the Events together into a single Common Event.

But If I were to wright into a script, I could possibly do it so much better as I could make it quite complex and intricate.

But I'm wondering if I should. So I'm curious what would be your thought on this. Why, if I should, should I use a series of Events over a single common Event or a Script over Events or whatever.... Would there be advantages or disadvantages of doing so?

Also, this Might go in "Theories and Ideas" forum. If it does, it might be best to move it.

Well I don't think I understood quite what you're asking, but I'll try to answer what I think the question was.

If you're doing this on one map, you have no need to make it a common event and you'd be better off keeping it as a map event.

Scripts do not run as straight forward as events do, half the time you would use a script to call a common event to do that anyway, so it's not really an improvement if you're doing the same thing.

If you mean to say that you will have random sayings on any given map at any given time, you WOULD be best to use a common event for that.
But again common events can not be as dynamic as a map event, you will not be able to set it to make any map events do something if you cannot tell the common event what map event to move (which would require scripting).

Please clarify what your question is.

Ok. Here's my concept: It's a Character Creation Screen.

So, You Choose you're character's Name, Cycle through Pictures to Change Clothes, Hair color, Equipped Gear/weapons, etc.. (I realized I over complicated my description, trying to explain additional thoughts that were more theoretical rather then what I had Planned.)

I know how to do this with Events. But I'm also fond of consolidating those events into a single Common Event that I can trigger with a single map event. So much easier for me to do so with a common event rather then trying to Juggle numerous Map events all working in unison.

Now, I'm terrible at Scripting BUT I can bet that by doing all of this with a Script might allow me to do stuff that I want to do but cringe at the thought of doing it by events.

That's interesting. Though I forgot to mention this was for XP, if that makes any difference. But this'll give me something to think about.
