I've been busy lately, and wiped my hard drives, any projects I did have were wiped mainly as I wanted this to work on all platforms, linux, unix, and windows.
Now obviously I'm not going to write this in windows.. oh now, never.. I'm writing it in Linux.

This will be released under the GPLV2 license(3 bugs me), so it's open source and that's where the community comes in. Write any changes, fix any bugs, or just have ideas.

This is all done by me so if you guys have idea's shoot em.

Now the base of the this project is based on RPG Maker and how it does things, there will be event style code, and lua code where the magic happens.
Unlike rpg maker you can build your own characters animations, no need to predefine it.

The map editor will be or try to be as open as possible, I'm maxing layers at 10, so if you need that much layers write a change and submit it.

Since I'm writing for Linux, Unix(and OS X), and Windows. I need to use a language that's global and that's where Mono comes in, Mono is .net for Osx and Linux and I do like .Net, best thing Microsoft has ever released next to C#. Screw windows(they're craping all over it..)

Since I'm creating a program that offers RPG Maker like functionality but without the obvious limits, how do you think the GUI should be mapped out?
With Windows I do plan on having the ribbon menu and it's possible this may be across the board with unix and linux. Or..not.

I really have not decided on a scripting language, I may use python, may use lua, or may use something else like haxe.

Once Gentoo decides that it's installed, production will begin, and updates will come like the way of the ye old west, rapidly and quickly.
Any updates I do have, be it just a gui will be released. I plan on releasing in weekly cycles.

Edit: If you see any misspelled wors, it's because firefox is acting up again..

I've been scratching my head if I should add a particle effects editor, personally it's a waste of time and it's easier to write a few lines of code versus a few hundred or thousand depending on the complexity.

I planned spark with RPGs in mind however each RPG has a different text system, and systems over all which is why you'll be using X language most of the time, it would be like rpg maker in that sense where you can open up an event and Show Message("HI"). I will however have a library of pre coded systems.

The editor will not have a "new project button", as it's well an editor to edit your game, a it's really just reading a few ini files, and will have a project tree with your projects folders, maps, battle, sprites>characters>objects, particles, scripts.

I did think about a cloud system where you create your project and load it with the editor, but that wasn't working and can't afford that kind of bandwidth/space.

Think of spark as a library with an editor as a bonus, creating an rpg maker clone would take longer but building a library that does the same can be done in a few months than a year or so. The editor will have an animation editor, map editor, and an event editor(this is probably an if as like I said writing editor stuff is a kind of a waste as writing an event in C++ versus a Gui/editor can get complex.

I don't want people getting the idea that this is like rpg maker, it's much closer to game maker(if that), ika, and verge.
If I do add an rm event like system, it will be like game maker in a sense.

Like before, if you have ideas please post.
