Reivies created a second version of The Mirror Lied late 2011 that I just barely found out about, and he changed quite a few things around!
I figured I would let you guys know about this because of how awesome the game is. It's very eerie and atmospheric.

I've played the game many times, so if you need help just ask :3

We can talk about it here if you want also... I guess tongue.gif

Oooh, have u ever tried Desert Nightmare? It's really just... incredible!! Seriously... "breathtaking" is the only way i can describe it.
i still want to do fanart for it and i still wish i could pay the guy who made it! Lol. Even after 4 months.
U can find the game here if u want to try it out. It was originally in German. : http://rpgmaker.net/games/917/

Desert Nightmare was badass. Probably one of the best horror-driven 2D indie games I have ever played, and the night scenes with the eerie glow from the store fronts reminded me of Tourist Trap, to some degree.

Redd, awesome job with this. The Mirror Lied was such a twisted game that required a lot of deep thought, and I was sad when I could no longer find a working demo. I'm going to have to grab at this for another playthrough.

Hmm, I'll have to try that out!

Not even Reives, the creator, knows what the game is about, so I guess you really don't have to get it xD

The things different in this new version that I have picked up so far, is that it is a tad bit easier to get to the phone in some situations, you get an extra empty bucket (for watering the strange plant), the pictures start turning blank as time goes on, and after the house catches on fire, your bed falls through the floor onto the big table that has the phone and music box on it. There is also a bear that you can pick up on that same table and carry around with you, but I haven't figured out it's purpose yet.

Oh wow, rly??? XD lol, that's a little unfortunate.

Hmm, if I have free time, I might check out the update. Although it doesn't seem all that different from the original, so idk.. D:

I'm amazed the developer is still active about the game tho. And I'm glad they give u more time for the phone; I could never reach it in time except once, I think. It made me paranoid that something bad would happen, ahahaha. (!")

Just played it and its real cool (in all honesty I downloaded it thinking it was a different game I saw a while back but it was a pleasant mistake). Sadly the game just feels very incomplete to me, not just because I encountered quite a few basic glitches (like the bucket remaining full and having 2 buckets in my inventory) but the story, while enigmatically entertaining, was just a mess that ended out of nowhere and I often had the impression many of the things included, like the costume changes, were just for the sake of it. Basically the game felt like a first project, testing the waters (that admittedly turned out fantastic if it was a first project).

That said there were some real nice touches, and some real attention to detail like the continents slowly disappearing off the map, but again without any real explanation of why these events are relevant, or even occurring, their impact is greatly diminished.

As critical as I was I did genuinely like it, I'm mostly just raging for answers.

It was made to make you think, so it didn't give any detail about anything.
I'm not sure if this was his first game or if it was Do You Remember My Lullaby... but it is either first or second.
This is also the maker of Quintessence The Blighted Venom and To The Moon... which are both AMAZING games. In fact, To The Moon won a lot of awards for indie game making.
