Abstract: Explore a fantasy world, completing many quests across the realms and gaining new friends and enemies. Fight creatures, solve puzzles, find items... Hundreds of puzzles and quests across four Realms! Genre: This game is a fantasy, adventure RPG. Engine: RPG Maker VX
Demo Gameplay Length: Version 1.0 is currently a microgame (<1 hour) but will most definitely extend!
Story: There is no pre-set story! That is the beauty of Explorer! The world evolves around you! Every action, every decision, every move has a reaction, answer, consequence. The game is constantly updating, constantly changing and is totally unique to each individual player. Slay a dragon or learn to play the piano. Go cliff-jumping or go fishing. Build and manage a business or draw a picture. Your opportunities are virtually unlimited!
Setting: Realm One: Earth You begin in the city of Lumlock, a large and rapidly expanding city. It is just one of the major cities on the Trenaman Isles, a cluster of islands to the West of Bridget Cove, a large pirate coven. To the North-East of Bridget Cove lies East Point, home of the legendary Archanian Army. To the East, North of Bridget Cove, resides Shaman Lo, the greatest Mage ever to have lived in the Earth Realm. Ancient myths tell of links between Shaman Lo and the Spirit Realm.
Realm Two: Spirit After using the Spirit Loadstone, you arrive in a city known as Renasis. Here you will face many challenges before being granted the freedom of leaving the city. Followed and assisted by Spirit Ka, you will travel the Spirit Realm, from the South-West islands of the Gemini Straits to the dark mountains of Cape Carne, completing quests, adventures and puzzles on your travels. The Gods of Olympus are said to hold powers that can grant a special soul access to the third Realm.
Realm Three: Ether The Ether Realm is yet another twist in the world of Explorer. It is a combination of two Realms pressed together after a Sun 1.3 billion light years away collapsed, creating a giant black hole. To save the five Realms from total destruction, two had to be sacrificed and one, new Realm was formed. The Ether Realm is the culmination of the long-lost Genesis and Medieval Realms and the results are apparent and dramatic. High-tech computers are mixed into modern day life with horse and carriages and barbarians who search the Realm for 'treats'. Medieval diseases are being combated by modern medicines and battles are a mixture of old and new weaponry. From the city of Roma situated on the large island of ArkNet Six, to the tiny village of Gene on the outskirts of ArkNet Nine's largest city, Cobe Strand, form alliances and enemies, fight creatures and monsters, complete quests, solve puzzles, build a business empire or just read a book in the calmest, yet most hectic, Realm of them all.
Realm Four: Dragon There are no known connections between any of the three Realms and the Dragon Realm, yet it's existence has been prophesied for many centuries. It is a land dominated by Dragons, all ruled over by a mysterious race known as the Dragon Lords. You will encounter several Dragon Lords on your adventures through the four Realms, yet you never learn of their mystical powers. Until one comes to you again, needing your help...
Other characters that you meet in the game will depend on your actions and decisions.
Credits: - Credit goes to Vlad for his Requiem SBABS Standard script, which allows for on-map battles - Credit goes to Modern Algebra for his Advanced Text System V3.0 (ATS 3) and Paragraph Formatter, that allows for vast array of advanced messages and text display methods. - Credit also goes to Modern Algebra for his Quest Journal script. Although not used in Version 1.0, it will prove an invaluable part of future Explorer releases. - Credit goes to Deriru for his Simple Storage System, which allows for players to use metal chests as storage containers, much like banks, except for items as well as money. - Credit goes to Carbajosa for his Map Hud V0.1 script, which tells the player the name of the map they are on at all times. - Credit goes to Woratana for his Neo Save System III, which has given the save window an updated look. - And, finally, credit goes to Punk, for his Screensaver Effect script, which helps conserve battery power and eyesight by dimming the screen after a set period of in-game inactivity. - Credit also goes to KGC for his MiniMap script which will prove invaluable for locating certain event types on large maps. Thanks to Mr. Anonymous and Mr. Bubble for translating this script. - Credit to Woratana for his Mix Skills System, allowing the player to mix two or more skills to create new, more powerful ones. - Credit to Sojabird for his Shop Sell Interest/Shop Discount script, allowing for restrictions in what items shops buy from you and flexibility in prices of goods. - Credit to Kread-EX for his Simple Magic Weapons script, which means that players have the chance to cast a skill in place of normal attack when equipped with certain weapons.
