Hi everybody, well I have some troubles when I'm mapping, for example I'm trying to draw a tent but I have this problem
I hope someone can help me, thanks
It looks like a good start, the problem you are running into is a standard one when trying to stack the same kind of tile in RMVX, I've not found a way to get rid of those, aside from using a parallax mapping style, but you can make it look a bit more natural if you were to connect the upper portion into one larger section instead of two smaller sections.
I've taken some tips from this thread, so glad it's here, and remade my classroom. I'll also be making some adjustments to the old map and making it into a library, so it's not a total loss! Anyways here is the new classroom! Library to follow.
The carpet looks better this time, still the map is too big.
I would advise you to keep only 1 space on the sides where you can walk, there's no need for more than 1 space in a class they are always well packed not wide and open.
Also that library is too tall, why does it take 2 floor spaces? I would adjust it so it takes 1 space. (I mean it takes 2 spaces vertically)
I would also make the room less tall as usually the teacher would have the board behind her desk not that far away. (Again have only 1 free space not more.)
I don't understand the point of the purple banner and the plant near the library so I was wondering why not move the library 1 space to the right and put the plant in the corner? You could also put another window at the other side of the board or leave it just wall.
--
If you want to make a sort of tall room you could try and make the entrance an imaginary lower/higher floor with some stairs that go down/up into the classroom.
An example is a picture I have already uploaded so I don't have to make a map to give the example:
As you can see, without going 3d such a simple thing can make the room feel like it's going to a higher level.

This type of thread was closed once because there was people that didn't even try hard to give criticism, saying it looks good is not good criticism it's just an impolite way to go around the rules to post your screenshot. I sometimes give criticism even without posting screenshots because I like helping people and when I post a screenshot I expect to be treated the same.
The screenshot showoff while having no feedback/criticism rule people can still say if x screenshot is cool or something like that so I see no reason in not putting your screenshots there if you don't want to criticise other's work but want yours evaluated.
I really don't want this thread to close again because people are selfish, this thread helps a lot when your in doubt, not that good at mapping and many other reasons custom tilesets or not, doesn't make any difference.
I just hope the devs don't take your case so bad that influences this thread longevity as it helps people and can give ideas on how to map too.

@supercrow ------------------------------------------------- @shadowval + @highlander4 : use of different kinds of floor tile can really help lift the boring scenery or repetition of the same tile. @highlander4 already utilize some carpet, although i think its should be the teacher XD , the center looks empty and wasted space @shadowval its too wide and big of empty space, its weird with classrom thats next to some kind of library, pick either classrom or library -------------------------------------------------
XD I tried to place a carpet under the Teacher's Table but the problem is I used a Table Autotile for the teacher's table and two autotiles crash in VX and VX Ace and sadly there are no Three square tables in Cellianas Tileset B-E and I'm too lazy for editing the tileset and I gotta add something in the center.

I know you guys already saw this but I wanted to post it again. To be honest with you guys I really like this map a lot plus I reworked some things here:
Feel free to critic my work. Good or Bad it's fine as long as it's constructive. Here it is:

Honestly it looks really good to my eyes, you make a good use of water effects and that really adds life to a map I think. A few small things I've noticed, on the western cliff you have a fence on the western side of some stairs but nothing on the eastern, seems a bit off to me. Also the color of the bridges seems really off for everything else, do you have darker bridges? If not you may consider taking them into photoshop or gimp and recoloring them, would really add to the appeal factor.
Also, on a few cliffs you have fences that cover a section of cliff that's on an opposing side of water, a place someone couldn't get too, it looks nice, but seems un-needed.

Thanks for that... I will surely take all of those in consideration and rework the map again... Thanks again

@highlander - that does not look like a comfortable beach, and I would not like to swim there, but as far as a landing spot for an rpg, it looks really good, it's simple and effective, nothing extra needed. At least in my opinion.
I finally remade my class room, this is like my eight attempt so I really hope this looks good, I've gone with kind of a minimalist attempt without putting a lot of clutter into it. Anyways, here we go.

Hrm I seem to be at a dilemma, I want to post a new map and get some feedback, but the last map to be posted, I've already commented on. I hope it's not breaking the rules if I don't re-comment on that same map.
Anyways, I'm trying to design a hallway for the school, along with a lounge attachment. I kind of feel like something is off, but I can't quite place it.

Well I think the hallway is a bit too wide, but that could just be my taste. Also, the rug could look like it's actually going through the door. Ya'know, Left Shift the rug at the doorway, and for the wooden floor, it look too repeated. The right side of the wood tile is brighter then the one on the left side. So you can tell it look like a repeated tile. Also, some pictures or something on the wall.
Overall, looking good.

I remade the living room and learned how to do parallax/overlay, so I can add my own lights and shadows. So is it better from my last image? Also, which version of lighting for a house is better?
Old Living
Darken lighting with the RBG setting are -20?
Or normal lighting, nothing touched?

Big Picture
Feedback would be great.
Like Yuu-Mon Musuedo said... it's kinda like too wide but I guess for me it's the lack of ornaments and something to be placed but since it's just a hallway I guess that can't be helped... and you can also move the sofas at the edge... it looks kinda off to me

The darker one looks too dark for my taste and the lighter one looks bland in color maybe darken it just a little? Maybe make it only -10 to -15 I'm not really sure but I gotta say that interior looks Perfect... ummm have you tried the auto correct option in Microsoft Office Picture Manager cause it kind of strengthens the color a bit but it's just my suggestion. I hope I helped
What is the tileset you used by the way?

I got those from this site here on the front page in Resources/RPG Maker VX Resources/Tilesets. I edit, recolor and combined some to fit VXAce.

@shaddowval : 1.too wide and too much empty space 2. vx have little char, if you put big sofa like that it would eat the char (joke) XD , but seriously it looks weird to me 3. if you want to put sofa or the like put it in the corner to save space 4. add little things like clock , vase , painting, table for sofa, etc that will help less boring 5. dont really need to put carpet all around, just in secluded place to make it more important, or get more different kinds of carpet XD
@yuu-mon musuedo : hey its way better than before , to me its better normal lighting/ not to touch the lighting unless you really know what your doing

@Yuu-Mon Musuedo Really amazing work you have there. At first sight is looks like a beautiful piece of work. Some things to comment about would be the light coming in from the window. I feel, personally, that it looks too blob-y. maybe soften it or add some noticeable light rays (maybe). Another thing to point out would be the tables one either side of the building with the pictures on them. When I look at it, sure it give the feel of symmetry, but on a second thought: why would there be pictures on both of them (also to point out they are the same)? Perhaps try to remove the contents of one table and replace it with another house hold item. Maybe a vase full of flowers.
@Shaddowval When it comes to VX mapping and XP mapping, they both have the same flaw that's easily produced by many: empty space. When it come to eliminating that space, it can be quite difficult. What I would do first is to shorten the East and West wall between the reception counter... And maybe move the reception counter in a bit to block the entrance. Hell, if you did that you can just add some interior fence inside. Make it feel like a really important place. (a bit overboard for a school). Next, I would move the couches back against the wall and a flower vase in between. Maybe try to add a picture or two on the wall. And for extra work (if possible), edit the statue and change the colour from gray to a nice bronze look.
