Story line

In this parallel universe, the legend of the Avatar ended hundreds of years ago when one of the avatars in the cycle was killed during Avatar State, ever since then, the cycle was broken and new avatars ceased to be born. With the Avatar out of the way to keep the elements from leaving balance, the latest generations of fire lords have all been preparing and shaping up their weapons and equipment to war, not all of the Fire Nation was in agreement with this path of action, however, which resulted in the Fire Nation being divided in two, those that continued to follow the will of the Fire Lord and the other, smaller group, which became renegades in the eyes of the Fire Nation. Aware of this fact, the Earth and Water gladly took in these said renegades and have also started to prepare for battle with the Fire Nation. The Air Benders, on the other hand, have decided to stay neutral throughout this conflict, no doubt due to the influences of their teachings based around peace and non-hostility. Sadly, it soon became evident to the Fire Nation that taking out the Air Nomads out of the picture would greatly help them expand their territory, as well as get rid of a potential enemy in the near future, so that will be their first target in this war. Not having been ready yet, the Earth and Water Nations both pull together resources to assemble a mercenary team, which will be responsible for defending the Eastern Air Temple, at least until reinforcements arrive from the Earth and Water Nations.


Objective:
As a mercenary, its your duty to defend against the cruel Fire Nation’s attacks on the East Air Temple alongside your comrades.

Name: (As a mercenary, it’s entirely possible you may choose to not use your real name)

Nationality: (Of the 4 nations: Fire Nation, Air Nomads, Water Tribe, Earth Kingdom)
Equipment: (If Any (a weapon, medical supplies, trinkets, pocket lint, anything that is note worthy that he/she might carry))
Appearance: (Image or Description is fine)
Skills: (Not just that of Element Bending, but other useful things, no need for too much detail)
Personality: (Describe your character in a few words, what are they like? What do they like?)
Characters past: (What has your character done in the past? What led him/her to becoming a mercenary? Don’t worry about too much detail, you still have the RP itself to explore this completely.)

Character creation things to think about:
Keep in mind your characters nationality (as they are each distinctly different in culture for example), for example, an Air Nomad might be less likely to kill an opponent should it come to that, or perhaps your Air Nomad has left his/her origins behind?

Does your character really give much of a damn about the war? Or are they just in it for the money?

Can your character actually bend the elements? If not, were they ever bullied because of this?
Maybe they can bend, however they have a severe lack of talent?

If your character is of the Fire Nation, do they dress in Fire Nation fashion proudly? Or perhaps they don't and keep their origins a secret to avoid trouble.

Rules:

Your character can't be an avatar, they are dead and gone.

Your character cannot perform advanced element bending. This is for fairness reasons, some advanced bending can either kill almost instantly (lightning) or control your characters physical movments (Blood).

Make sure your character isn't some kind of immortal or god like element bender.
Obviously I don't expect your character to be physically weak, but have some idea of how much damage your character
can take.

Controlling another users character is frowned upon.
However, in some cases, if a user is away and their character was in the middle of something important, their character may be temporarily controlled to move the story along. Otherwise, we'd be forced to stall.

Try not to post with only a handful of sentences too often, in some cases, this is tough to avoid and can have an affect on the next users post because of having a small piece to write from.

Keep violence, language and gore to decent level. There are kids here and keep in mind the forum rules as a whole.

Woot! Just a note though, you should probably put on the rules regarding advanced types of bending. Such as lightning for fire benders, blood for water benders, metal and sand for earth benders, etc.

Equipment:
Basic survival and travelling supplies. Ropes, tents, food rations and other basic needs. All of that, coupled up with a few changes of clothes, are all stuffed up inside a huge bag she carries around with her. She is usually wearing a long green cloak, which covers her upper body almost completely, a long blue trenchcoat, a black corset and loose blue pants, which are kept up by overalls. She is always wearing hard leather, steel-tipped boots and fingerless leather gloves on her hand.

Skills:
Due to the fact she now has only one arm, she had to adapt her earth bending to fit this new body. As such, instead of hurling blocks and quakes at her opponents like most earth benders, she instead uses her earth bending to make small rock spikes, which she throws at her opponents. She also is a decent martial arts user when it comes to kicking.

Personality:
Loud, and sometimes, slightly over dramatic. She tends to try to deal with most problems head-on and is very thick headed when she sets her mind to things.

History:

Daughter of a couple of merchants that travelled around the Earth Nation. Never feeling herself quite right in that caravan, she dropped out of it around her teen years to try and join the Dai Li at Ba Sing Se. Making use of her skills as an earth bender, she would first train in it as hard as she could, join the guard and then, later, join the Dai Li...! Except...She kind of didn't. During her training, an accident caused her to end up losing an arm. Though she was able to get the wound properly taken care of, she pretty much no longer had any chance to join the guard, seeing as they weren't interested in recruiting a one-armed woman. Seeing her initial plans destroyed, she decided to become a wanderer and has been making a living by working as a mercenary. Despite having lost an arm during her training, she is still a very good earth bender, able to fight on equal ground with most other benders.
