I couldn't find the forum for help with computer stuff. This place has changed since I left. If this is in the wrong place, then please move it.

I recently bought a new HP black ink cartridge from my walmart. I installed it the correct way, and it works. My problem is for every page I want to print, even if I want more than one copy of said page, I get this message:

I have to hit the ok button 17 times in a row, because the message immeadiatly pops up after I hit the OK button. Even if I check off the "do not show this message in the future" box, it still pops back up, until the 17th time I hit the OK button. It pops up for each page, which I then have to hit the OK button 17 more times, and I can't stand it anymore. At first I thought it was funny, but now it's annoying. I just printed 6 copies of a page, so multiply 6x17, which is 102. Thats how many times I had to click the ok button to print my 6 pages. Whats even worse, if I do not hit the OK button, then It won't print the next page.

I don't know what to do. I can't figure out what to search for on google. Any suggestions?

I found some instructions on HP to help with this kind of problem, but please read the note at the bottom of this message, as it might not be possible to turn off the notifications. =\

Instructions:
1 Click the "Start" menu and open the Control Panel.
2 Double click the "Printers and Faxes" icon (in Windows XP) or the "Printers" icon (in Windows Vista or later).
3 Press the "Alt" key on your keyboard to display the menu bar (Windows Vista users only).
4 Click the "File" menu and choose the "Server Properties" option.
5 Open the "Advanced" tab.
6 Uncheck the box labeled "Notify when remote documents are printed."
7 Uncheck the box labeled "Show informational notifications for local printers."
8 Uncheck the box labeled "Show informational notifications for network printers."
9 Click "OK."

Note: Keep in mind that this will not turn off essential printer messages, notifying you of problems such as lack of ink or paper jams; it turns off messages notifying you of the completion of a print job or low ink warnings. Essential printer messages are built into the firmware of the printer itself and cannot be disabled.

Oh, and this is the correct location for this kind of stuffs. happy.gif

Thank you for the info XMO, but it did not help. The options screen had only the bottom box checked-off, so I unchecked it. None of the other options were turned on. I still get that annoying message. I think i'm going to uninstall the printer, and see if that fixes the stupid message.

Thank you again, I knew you would be the one to try to help me smile.gif

You're welcome; at least I tried. XD

Are you using Vista by any chance?
If so, here's the solution (I believe) to your issue:

Instructions
1 Log in to your computer as the "Administrator."
2 Open the "Start" menu. Type "Printers" in the "Search" box. Click "Printers" from your program list.
3 Right-click a vacant spot in the "Printers" folder. Select "Server Properties" from the list.
4 Select the "Advanced" tab. Uncheck the boxes "Show informational notifications for local printers" and "Show informational notifications for network printers."
5 Click the "Apply" button and then "OK."
