Well I don't know where to post it, so I'll post it here....

Has anyone ever made a full script of a final fantasy X sphere grid?

because I have been creating it in the last two weeks and it is almost over, and I haven't found any other in the net... can you confirm it?

anyway, here you are some screenshots up to now:

sorry if they are in italian but I haven't translated it yet.

This is a demo version of the script:

I'm just curious to know how does it look to you happy.gif

Grazie smile.gif

But.... does it already exist? I've seen around scripts that transform maps into sphere grids but this one has been built from zero using only scripts...

Never really seen one myself and even if there would be one, being so unpopular doesn't say much for it.

Sadly I don't know nothing about any other, but I am interested in yours. Does it remove the level up EXP or something? Can you learn skills with it? (Sorry, I haven't played FF10 in YEARS, so I can't remember how it works.)

Well it basically works like this: you gain AP (or exp, it's the same) and you level up. you actually "spend" levels to progress into the grid and you use items to increase stats and learn skills.

Actually there is no limit at how this could be used, but I think that if it is too big then the program would lag.

@Feoden

That's... impressive.
What about lag time & drawing time?
Have you succeeded in reducing it?
Maybe you should ask if there's a way to set the nodes without manually write every coordinate of every circle...

BTW, I can't do nothing but agreing with Vexus.
Complimenti, Feo smile.gif

Well....
Lag in the new version is unnoticeable. It takes less than a second to draw the entire grid, i think this is quite acceptable.

It is a bit boring trying to set all the nodes manually, but the only other way that occurred to me is creating another program that allows to "draw and move" them. a sort of compiler.

Amazing!

Ehi, pal, now that you have created as much suspence as you intended to, everyone here is waiting for the complete script smile.gif

Let me know when it will be ready at 100%.
I'm extremely curious...

Well... I'm quite jealous about this one happy.gif I dunno if I will release it... There are still many compatibility and graphical issues to overcome.

oh well, this is a little different from the final fantasy X sphere grid, although the idea is the same (you are free to move anywhere, whereas in the original one you must follow definite paths, like you do in risk when moving among territories). It seems that there actually ain't any original ffX sphere grid system... wow this is quite unexpected smile.gif

The more I hear about this, the more it sounds like Rogue Galaxy, a PS2 game's skill grid. Which I liked. But that game uses nothing but pure items.

Yes the idea is the same, although the one you mention is more similar to the FF 12 system (I suppose).

It is unbelievable, but the sphere grid is almost ready to be released. It Just needs to be translated in english, and then I shall post it smile.gif

Edit:

The demo is ready! If you approve this, I shall post the whole script happy.gif

What are your computer specifics?
Mine has a dual core CPU 1.66 GHz, 512 MB RAM (not the best, an asus netbook which cause almost every game slightly lag) and the demo worked perfectly.

It's not a .dll problem, maybe your CPU is too slow and/or has little RAM...

I have long feared this moment.
I should have expected this.... I modified the sphere grid a week ago in order to reduce lag time when using it, but it takes a lot more time when it gets opened...

It seems that in slower PCs it takes too much time to open and the player stops working. Thanks for the feedback, I will post the other version too.
It is inefficient but at the startup it is faster.
