Ooft, $90? That's, what, £60? I didn't expect it to cost any more than VX.

Ah well, I'd better start rummaging through my jeans pockets and scrape some moolah together.

EDIT: Does there happen to be any information as to what these bonuses are? Surely they can be accessed by the Internet as they're digital resources?

I imagine so, I mean you can get the the entirety of the old engines online for free nowadays. Although I'm just assuming these bonuses are additional rtp resources.

Other than a discount (which is certainly an enticing factor considering the cost of the software) I cannot see any other reason to preorder.

Other than that, I'm thoroughly looking forward to getting this. From what I've seen so far I'm very impressed.

$90 is a ludicrous price for many, I'm sure. I'll bet there's an influx of those who acquire the software through illegal means.

With the cost as it is, they're just shooting themselves in the foot.

In fairness even if it was going for $5 people would probably crack it. The ridiculous price is probably just to cover for these people.

$90 was what was previously estimated. Imagine what the cost could have been if it had mirrored Japan's price at release? There was speculation that it could as high as $150. Of course, Japan gets a hardcopy that I'm sure enables them to easily re-install the software should something go wrong, but still, $90 seems pretty reasonable compared to how well received the editor appears to be.

Chances are, though, just like any other piece of software, once the hype dies down, the cost will come down as well. Patience is a virtue.

The JP version costs 13440 Yen (around 167 USD). Currently, amazon.jp sells it for something around 10453 Yen (130 USD). As you can see, the English version is quite cheaper.

@MyPhantomile: As for the bonuses, even Nick Palmer, the guy who manages RPG Maker Web blog (most commonly known as Touchfuzzy) doesn't know what they are yet.

I'm shocked to hear the cost for the JP version! I guess we should consider ourselves lucky when it comes to the current pricing.

I'm actually looking forward to hearing about these bonuses. Considering they've been kept quiet thus far, perhaps they're actually decent?

This is one of those things I'll do better if I wait for the price drop. Luckily they put out demos.

Unsure whether to preorder with discounts and bonuses or to wait for the price drop.
But price drop could come lots of months after, that I could have spended actually using the engine >_>

Thanks for the news.

Keep in mind there's supposed to be a discount for pre-orders as well, although not sure what that discount would be and if it's available to all or only for select groups; it was previously suggested that those who already owned a legit copy of VX would get a discount, but others would not, although that may have changed and a discount would be for anybody that pre-orders. My guess is the eventual price drop will be what the discount currently is, so by waiting you'll wind up paying the same cost as you would with the pre-order, but without the bonuses.

Hopefully they'll give us a teaser to what these bonuses are. I'm really considering the possibility of pre-ordering myself.

Hmm that's just about £59~ for the British. Kind of a hefty price but that's to be expected from Enterbrain. I'll probably, and personally, wait for the prices to drop by at least 15% before I buy it. Though, depending on my college funds, get the pre-ordered version upon its release.

Preorders have started! Bonuses include music from Super Dante and RPG Maker 2 (but remastered) and a pack of bonus graphics originally from RPG Maker DS.

Not to mention a $15 discount, which makes this a near instant steal! There's also early access to an official forum and one other bonus that's revealed when you buy the maker, so I'll keep my lips sealed on that.

As you can probably tell, I've pre-ordered!

Imo i think the reason people crack all these programs n such is because the industry prices are pretty ourageous now :X, look at photoshop for example its like $500, for something an opensource software like gimp could accomplish.

edit: i stand corrected photoshop is $700 >_>

People who crack will do so even at $5. I don't think $75 (or even $90) is an outragious price for what you are given. In fact, I was expecting higher, so really glad how low they came. The thing I'm on the fence on now is what to do when Omegas7 released his map editor for VX. That may wind up giving VX some advantage, although it will depend on whether I have the know-how to use it or not. That and collision are really the only two things that I'd like to see in a future editor.

But with traits, levels based on class, unlimited tilesets, char/face makers, and everything else going on with Ace, you can't expect them to release this program at any less than they are charging. If anything, the discount and added bonuses makes this a very smart purchase. It's obvious they are really given the English community a chance to prove how much they want this, and anybody who cracks this for an illegal copy makes it hard on honest people.

Think of it this way, by purchasing a legit copy, we show Enterbrain we're willing to play by the rules, and in turn they may feel more inclined to give us extras as they come along (and perhaps future RTP packages).
