Custom Tilesets, I need Informative Resources Options

I need to know how to fit my custom drawn Tilesets , and character sheets into RMXP , they seem to be all Conglomerated .
Also I would love to give my Maps more Depth , Perception , and Voice , rather than the Simple Blah , and straight Box type Appearance.
