I think this is probably silly and I'm just not getting something, but when i post my game for submission and upload it, following the rules and guidlines of course, I find that the dowload doesn't work and is 0kb in size, is this normal? Is it just pending approval or did I upload something wrong? I've tested the compressed file and it works fine, so I don't know what I am doing wrong here.

Was this a download for the main site?

Edit - found it - yes you posted on the main site, where games have to be approved. I can approve that one as you have more than 2 hours game play.

isn't it easier to upload it to a file hosting site and just provide the link to the download?

That is the only way it can be done - as there is a far too small allowance given for submitted games by the main site.
