weapon bonuses Options

I'm trying to set up my weapons so that certain weapons work better when equipped to certain characters. weapons can be equipped to anyone but for example, fire based weapons are stronger with character 1, ranged weapons work better with character 2, and so on and so on. does anyone know how that would work out. thanks.
