It was loud in the assembly hall as the new recruits gathered to hear Commander Beck speak. He seemed to be running a little late and the room filled with idle chatter. A hush fell over the crowd as an unfamiliar man took the stage.
"Greetings," he said in a voice that echoed throughout the hall. "I am Director Lazeer. I'm in charge of the business aspects of the Vindicta Force and I guess you could say I'm top dog around here." His light-hearted tone received small chuckles from the audience. "You may be wondering where Commander Beck is. He's taking care of some urgent matters so I decided to greet you all personally. It's been a while since we've gotten such a promising group of prospects and I wanted to get a good look at you all. Each of you have your own reasons for fighting and I see the flames of passion in each and every one of your eyes. I'm quite interested in seeing how well you will do. Welcome to the Vindicta Force and, try not to die." He gave a playful smile with his last sentence and walked offstage. Jenova then took the stage and began giving orders. "Report to your departments right away. If you get lost, we have maps posted all throughout the facility. You should have already unpacked your things in the dormitory. If you need equipment, it will be issued at your department. That is all. Dismissed!" Everyone began to file out of the room and headed towards their departments.

The Devil
Materiality. Material Force. Material temptation; sometimes obsession
The Devil is often a great card for business success; hard work and ambition.Perhaps the most misunderstood of all the major arcana, the Devil is not really "Satan" at all, but Pan the half-goat nature god and/or Dionysius. These are gods of pleasure and abandon, of wild behavior and unbridled desires. This is a card about ambitions; it is also synonymous with temptation and addiction. On the flip side, however, the card can be a warning to someone who is too restrained, someone who never allows themselves to get passionate or messy or wild - or ambitious. This, too, is a form of enslavement. As a person, the Devil can stand for a man of money or erotic power, aggressive, controlling, or just persuasive. This is not to say a bad man, but certainly a powerful man who is hard to resist. The important thing is to remember that any chain is freely worn. In most cases, you are enslaved only because you allow it.
Jenova smiled at John's answer. "That's enough. I can tell you're eager to get started. You're cleared for C-rank missions but that doesn't mean you can't take lower level if you want to. You also have up to five people working either with you directly or supporting you in addition to your communications officer." She snapped her fingers and two men showed up this time and set up a small folding table and a third laid out three folders. One was marked E, another D, and a third C. "The higher ranking missions are more difficult but the pay is also better. Knowing you, you'll go for C right away." She spread her arms out. "Go ahead, take your pick."
Meanwhile at Mission Support...
"Private Wilkins, nice to meet you." A young man approached him and shook his hand. "I'm George Hampton, chief of mission support. We work here around the clock supporting agents on the field. Transportation, extractions, air strikes, and anything else they can't handle by themselves falls to us. We also feed them a constant supply of information so they're always aware of battlefield conditions." "HQ, this is Zero," a voice came from a nearby speaker. "I'm ready for extraction." "That's Zero, our best agent," George said. "Ready for a little crash course in support? Go ahead and take the call. Press that red button next to the mic to talk. Tell him we'll have a chopper there as soon as we get a lock on his position. Each agent has a tracking device that only we can monitor on them. Once they're ready for extraction, we just pull up their tracker and send someone out there. You any good at reading maps?"
Meanwhile at R&D...
"A lot of us don't prefer direct combat. Plus Elena-san is a great inspiration. She's the youngest CO here at the Vindicta Force and is looked up to by everyone here in R&D. Let me look at your file here." Miyuki flipped through some papers. "Your scores in the simulators are pretty good. I'm sure it won't be a problem to send you out in the combat models." "R&D, this is mission support. Agent Zero is requesting extraction," a voice echoed through the hangar. "We're are currently locking on his location. Someone'll need to get out there and pick him up." "This would be a good chance for you to practice piloting a helicopter. Extractions are all D-rank missions so you're cleared for them. However, if you'd rather not, someone else will get him. The list of E and D rank missions you can alternatively choose are on the table over there." She motioned over to a small metal table with folders on its surface.
