Hey, new guy here. Although I'll certainly be around other parts of the board, music's my main thing, so I figured I'd come here first. This music was generally written with games in mind, though not necessarily RPGs. Some of it was written for my personal RMXP project which I've been working on.

Feel free to download, use, and criticize (no really, tear into it. I love criticism) this music:

A quick description of each track:

Fight for your life - an RPG battle song, ready to go (loops properly, albeit a bit awkwardly I will admit. I'll keep working at this one). It is orchestral, intense, apprehensive and heroic.

Sometime Yesterday - a latin-influenced big band Jazz piece. A complete song (no loop) it's energetic and fun.

Slow night - a slow jazz combo song.

Domino Farm - ridiculously named electronic song. I wrote this one about 3 years ago? But I still think it's catchy.

Magic Machine - another electronic composition. A more recent one, I had fun with this one. I keep meaning to go back and expand it greatly.

The Wanderer - orchestral, overworld style song

The Road Ahead - Another orchestral song, for that moment the main character picks himself up and his spirit is rejuvenated. (oh come on, every game has that moment)

Hope you enjoy listening, and I hope to get to know you guys here soon!

I too also like to make my own music.
What did you use to make these song, they are very nice, I have been messing around with FL9,
and I find the interface to be a bit confuseing, so I have been looking for a diffrent program.

For "the fight of you life"
Have you tried adding some snare, and a bit of timpani(If the program you have uses this,)
Snare, and Timpani with an orchestral sound can make a good battle type of song.
If you are looking for a battle type of song i would suggest litening to
"Mars The Bringer of War"
or
"The Blackforest Overcher"
(If you havent already, they are good examples of battle imo.

As for the other song, I loved the jazz, and almost all jazz.
The electronic stuff is not my thing, but I am know that thair are people who like that stuff here.

Thanks for the comment, glad you liked the jazz smile.gif On Fight for you life, I am planning to continue to work on it, bring out the timpani more (among other things). It was a conscious decision to leave out the snare, but other percussive additions are likely.

As for programs that I use, I use a notation program called Finale, which interfaces with MIDI in a similar way to FL but as sheet music. I use Kontakt 2 (need to upgrade), Kore player and some other VST libraries for the instruments. It is however somewhat expensive software, totaling around $500-600 (with steep education discounts!) But sound software usually is costly, and the really high-end stuff is insanely expensive. (this is not high-end as far as computer production goes, more mid-level)

Plus, using all these programs/plugins together is a bit of a pain to learn. Look into other programs (such as the Cakewalk line of tools, etc.) and see if anything looks good to you. Finale is designed as a notation software (to make sheet music) but has the capabilities to do a lot with MIDI and VST, I use it because standard notation is how I learned music, it's hard for me to think any other way. Other programs, I freely admit, are easier to produce with.

Glad to see someone here with finale. I grew into learning music the same way, and it is very hard for me to use sequencers, so I just stick to using sheet music. It seems much easier for me. Your music sounds pretty cool man, cant wait to hear more stuff.

Good work, man. I think that this (or at least the more recent songs) is really pretty professional. Are you in the industry, or...?
Either way, you definitely top my work.
