Hey there,

I'm new to the forums, and a returning person to RPG maker. I never finished any games, but had started some and would love to get back into making games. The last time I was trying a project was about 5 years ago, so I'm going to be rusty, but have had some wonderful ideas for a game I'd love to make.

Anyway!

I've run into a problem when I am playing through games I've created. The game maker itself works fine, but when I go to play any game, my screen flashes like every second. Talk about annoying... I feel like I'm going to have a seizure when playing the game.

Here's some computer specs if it helps:

Windows 7, 64-bit
Studio XPS 1645
5.9 WIndows Experience
Intel Core i& CPU (1.60 GHz)
8.00 GB of RAM

This computer is able to handle online games such as Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XIV, so I don't have a clue what to do. Any help would be wonderful!. Thanks smile.gif

Flashing as in flashing black? My monitor has this problem also, but only when I play full screen - I think this is simply because its a 24inch 1080p monitor and its not designed for a low resolution of 320x240. I suggest when you test your games you don't test them in full screen and you should be fine.

Does it flicker or anything like that? It could be your graphics card, but most likely it's probably what Vanit's talking about. Adjust that and you should be fine.

Erm, figured it out after I posted ^^

Thanks for the help, changing the screen resolution did work.

Btw, is it possible to change screen size when you aren't actually creating the game? Say, if i'm running one I download from the RT.

Thanks, Vanit. smile.gif

I ran into another problem today, after I finally picked out some tunes to use and found some graphics I wanted to start working with, I opened up my copy of RPGmaker 2003. I was ready to create my project and I got this.

I think the problem could be with the strange font? or perhaps is it something to do with my program files folder needing administrative rights to make changes? I wouldn't think it would be that, however, as I have this saving to a My Documents folder.

Any help would be great smile.gif thanks

(also if anyone knows of some totally awesome RPGmaker games that have been created, feel free to PM me biggrin.gif I'd love to find some good ones to play)

That means "\". Anyways, try turning on administration powers for it, and it should work.

I have tried that before, and it didn't work. I am just so confused o.o Do Windows 7 64bit users have a problem in general with it?

Did you set your system language to Japanese? It depends of the translation you are using but I know of certain ones that don't work if the system language isn't the language of the translation.

I don't have a problem with it. I believe I did when I first got it, but it is now fixed.

For the screen blinking problem:

I made a tool called AnotherFullscreenMode, which fixes all sorts of graphical problems in fullscreen mode:

I wrote a tool which stretches the game to fullscreen without changing the resolution, it also allows you to apply a filter (Scale2x or hq2x) for better graphics.

QUOTE ("readme.txt")
This is a little tool which lets you play RPG Maker 2000/2003 games in fullscreen - without changing the resolution. This is a workaround for people who have problems with their screen or their graphics driver. AnotherFullscreenMode needs at least a 1 GHz CPU to run without lagging.

First, start your game (in windowed mode). Then start AnotherFullscreenMode. By pressing F6 you can switch between fullscreen and windowed mode, F7 shows or hides the FPS.

Using F8, you can set the filter: none -> Scale2x -> hq2x

Example screen with hq2x (in windowed mode):

About the project creation failure problem: Did you activate the Windows XP compatibility mode? If not: Rightclick rpg2000.exe, go to properties -> version, check "compatibility mode" and set it to "Windows XP Service Pack 3".
