(Bored so I'm just typing this as I go. Hopefully American Idol won't distract me from typing this lol.)

"There I was...caught in a biblical war." a voice from the shadows said.

Johnathan sat amongst the darkness. The stinch from two dumpsters filled his dirty olive green trench coat.
He sat quietly in a long alleyway, that rested between one convience store, and a twenty-four hour bar.
A bottle of Scotch Daniels lay empty beside him.
All he could think about was Ashley, and how she accepted her new life with her new fiance.
He wonder what his life would've been, if his body wasn't chosen by the dark beasts.
He could visualize himself laying in bed next to Ashley. A big house other than their old apartment.
Suddenly, a brief hiss ran through his ears. It was the hiss of his demonic power warning him of company.
Reaver, one of the other chosen, came up to him while smoking a cigarrette.

"It's not good if you keep thinking about her. Remember what I told you before...the Angelis finds that as a weakness, and they will do everything in their power to exploit that weakness. You have to clear your mind. For your sake, our sake...Ashley's sake..." Reaver said.

Reaver was the one who saved John a few days ago. The Angelis chased him down the highway, their paranormal state, caused each and every lamp post to flicker in the entire city. Sadly, those who didn't carry the curse didn't recognize the brief power outages. Reaver stepped infront of John and scared the Angelis away. Afterwards, Reaver introduced John to the other chosen. Any other person would think they were just a bunch of homeless begging for money...but there was more than what meets the eye.

"I can't...You don't know what it's like to lose someone you hold so dear. I remember, four years ago...I finally got to meet her parents on christmas eve...I proposed to her...she said yes. Her parents were happy...as were mine." John said as he started to show a hint of tears.
"And then...I slid a present from under the christmas tree...I gave it to her, and when she opened it...she couldn't believe her eyes. It was an engagement ring...wrapped in a huge box...Hehehe, she thought it was something else...S-She always wanted one of those George Foreman grills...hehehe."

Reaver listened to John's every word. He leaned against the wall with one hand in his pocket. Once he finished smoking his cigarrette, he flicked it to the side. The butt bounced off the side of a piece of old dirty cardboard that leaned against two garbage filled bags. Reaver started walking toward John, attempting to erase his mind by saying...
"Come on. The Jackal is waiting for us down by the pier."
Being that they were in New York City, the pier was home to a lot of military. Residents could spot the huge Navy ships from the road.
John nodded his head, wiped the tears from his eyes, and took Reaver's hand.
"...Ok..." he said.

As they stood to their feet, a NYPD car stopped infront of the alley. The officer rolled down his windows, and took a brief look at Reaver and John before saying...
"Hey! It's late out. You two may want to head home. Whats the problem here?"
Reaver rose his hand infront of his eyes, the light coming from the officer's flashlight blinded him a bit.
Reaver responded..."Just helping my uncle, officer. He had a bit too much to drink and had to vomit."

The officer rose his eyebrow and pulled the flashlight away. "Alright, make sure you get him home safely now." After that, the officer turned back on the road and drove off.

Reaver turned to John and gave a sigh of relief. "Come on, let's go."

To be continued....

I'm not sure where this story is going to lead but, there are hints, mysteries, and foreshadowing that can point different places. I just hope whatever happens, ol' John doesn't create problems for Reaver. Interesting story you have here, X~

"Reaver and I made our way to the pier...Soldiers were patrolling around their navy ships. They didn't know that we were thirty feet beneath them. I was sent on my first mission that night. It was a way to hone the curse. The Angelis...heh, they were agile."

Reaver and John met the Jackal and the others inside a boiler room, located inside one of the tallest ships the city has ever seen.
There was a orange tint coming from the brimstone.
As soon as they arrived, the Jackal began his mission briefing.
"Brothers...The Angelis...as perceptive as they are...are sending hordes of angels to eliminate us. As far as intel goes, the path to illumination begins in St. Paul's Chapel."
John blinked.
..."They will send groups of them from the church" he replied.
"To defeat them, we need to close the path to illumination. The city will be crawling with them, but as long as we stick to the shadows...we will be fine." said the Jackal.
Suddenly, the brimstones that kept the system running began to fade in and out.
Reaver knew that when shit starts to flicker back and forth, it usually means the Angelis have found them.
The Jackal looked over at Reaver as Jackal's demonic figures snatched through his shoulders, throwing a wave of blood behind him.
Jackal grunted at the pain.
"Hurts everytime." he said. Reaver and the rest did the same.

(Here is a picture of how the beasts look: The Darkness Just imagine having those things over your shoulders. Awesome.)

"Reaver, take the others and meet us at groundzero. We will strike the chapel there."
Reaver, whos eyes were now burning with fire, whos teeth became sharper, grinned as he motioned everyone toward the exit.
John followed the Jackal through an alternate route.
They entered the sewege tunnel underneath the Bricks and Mason building.
Jackal's eyes turned completely back. It was their way of using walkie-talkies.
Reaver, we've been to the building. How is everyone holding up?" Jackal to Reaver.
We got past a handful of them...but I think they know we're here. We're just a few clicks away from ground zero.
Alright, looks like we have company. Jackal to Reaver.
John looked up and saw two faint figures sweeping through the air. His demons reacted almost instantly.
They began to rapidly snap at the figures, but failed.
Suddenly, Jackal entire's body was scooped up by one of the Angelis. He felt a sharp pain pierce his stomach, and noticed blood pouring.
