Greetings people, I'll attempt to explain my request in the best way I can.

What I'm looking for is basically an add-on to the normal battle system (I'm hoping for VX, but XP is fine too), the add-on being similar to, if not identical, the Break Gauge from Chaos Rings.
For people who haven't playing Chaos Rings, for the iPod, I'll explain what the Break Gauge is.

Break Gauge Image One

The Break Gauge is shown in the top left-hand corner of the above image.
Upon entry into a battle, the Break Gauge is colorless with the word "Even" inside it, this shows that neither the enemy nor the player currently has the advantage of the battle.

Break Gauge Image Two + Three

If the player is the first to land a hit on the enemy while the Gauge is Even, the Gauge will fill halfway into their favor, this increases their stats as they'll do more damage, take less damage and passive abilities have a higher chance of activating. If the first strike is a critical hit, it'll fill 5 of the 8 bars. If an enemy is killed in the first strike, the gauge will fill 5 of the 8 bars, if the death blow is dealt as a critical hit though, it'll fill 7 of the 8 bars.
If the enemy's turn ends without any damage dealt to you, the gauge will fill by one bar. Each enemy killed will increase the gauge be one bar also.

All this works vice versa with the enemy, the gauge will fill into their favor if they attack first. Attacking the enemy while the gauge is in their favor will deplete it by one bar, critical attacks will deplete it by two and killing an enemy will deplete the gauge by 4 bars (not completely as I originally thought). In turn, the gauge is depleted from your favor each time you're attacked, by 2 for each critical and depleted by 4 bars when you're killed.

Break Gauge Image Four

When the gauge is fully depleted from any favor this image displays and then the gauge will fill halfway in the opposite party's favor. This can happen any number of times in the battle.

-Edit-
Here's a list of how the gauge can change and how the bars a filled:
Beforehand, terms used:
1. "Even": The Break Gauge is currently in neither favor, granting no stat bonuses. Only in effect at the start of a battle.
2. "Player": The Break Gauge is currently in the Player's favor, granting him/her increased attack, defense and speed.
3. "Enemy": The Break Gauge is currently in the Enemy's favor, granting them increased attack, defense and speed.

-Player-
1. The player attacks first at the start of the battle, + 4 bars, gauge changes from "Even" to "Player"
2. The player's first strike is a critical hit, + 5 bars, gauge changes from "Even" to "Player"
3. Player's first strike is a critical hit and defeats the enemy, + 7 bars, gauge changes from "Even" to "Player"
4. Player defeats an enemy on any other turn, + 1 bar
5. Player makes it through the enemy's turn without taking damage, + 1 bar
6. Player is attacked by an enemy while the gauge is at "Player", - 1 bar
7. A party member is defeated by an enemy while the gauge is at "Player", - 4 bars

-Enemy-
1. The enemy attacks first at the start of the battle, + 4 bars, gauge changes from "Even" to "Enemy"
2. The enemy's first strike is a critical hit, + 5 bars, gauge changes from "Even" to "Enemy"
3. Enemy's first strike is a critical hit and defeats the enemy, + 7 bars, gauge changes from "Even" to "Enemy"
4. Enemy defeats an party member on any other turn, + 1 bar
5. Enemies makes it through the player's turn without taking damage, + 1 bar
6. Enemy is attacked by an party member while the gauge is at "Enemy", - 1 bar
7. An enemy is defeated by an party member while the gauge is at "Enemy", - 4 bars

-Other-
1. All bars are depleted from either "Player" or "Enemy", + 4 bars to the opposing side
2. A skill is used that specifically drains bars from the opposing favor but normal damage otherwise (E.G. Player uses skill during a time when the gauge is displayed as "Enemy"), - 2 to the opposing favor


Sorry if this is an overload of information to anyone, or is too difficult, which I completely understand if it is, but I'd really like to use this for a project(s) I have in mind. (Kudos to you if you can guess it.)

hmm... i'll try to help you with this one.
just some question, if the gauge is fill in enemy way, is that encreasing enemy status too?
and the passive ability, is that critical hit or are you using custom skill?
and, how much size the bar is?

also, please make a list about how the bar will change.
i'm a bit confusing =="
maybe something like this:
- Player, First Strike Critical, Bar + 5
- Enemy, Attack Action, Bar - 1
etc (end of thinking capacity)

Yeah, the enemy's stats will be increased too if the the gauge is currently within their favor.
Not to sure on what you mean by the size, are you referring to the amount of bars or the actually width and height?

I'll start adding a list to the first post now, thanks for the notion.

Regarding the passive abilities, which I originally forgot; this generally refers to passive skills that give your characters a chance of dodging physical or magical attacks and ones that enhance resistances and element amplifications.
Having the Break Gauge in your favor would enhance how well these skills will perform.

Oh, well the gauge can fill to a total of 8 bars.
And, no, the bar won't increase if the enemy or player misses their first attack.
