Does anyone know how to do it? I've asked and I looked on the internet. I came across this: www.webeden.co.uk and we can create our own website in minutes, but I don't know if it's trustworthy. What do u all think?

What do you need for a website?

- A web host.
- Decent knowledge of HTML, PHP, CSS and SQL.
- Money (for the web host and the domain - although you can start free until your site grows a bit).

As for the site you linked to, it's apprently a web hosting service providing a site builder. It looks pretty crappy - 21£ per month for 1.5 GB space and 60 GB bandwith is really expensive and not worth it at all.

You can get a decent webhost for not too much.
I paid a one time fee of 45 dollars, and my domain has been up for a year.
I have a promotional price to renew it, as well, which is pretty sweet.

As far as the HTML, PHP, CSS, and SQL go...
You really don't NEED alot of knowledge in those areas.
While it does help, most web hosts provide installations of different Content Management Systems, or Forums, or Photo Galleries, and alot of newer companies have the Databasing in the background as well. So, you don't really need to mess with raw code alot, if you don't want to.

Of course, that does depend on the web host.

If you're simply wanting to make a free website with a builder: http://www.byethost.com/

Otherwise, it'll take a bit of effort to make a decent website. HTML & CSS for simple static websites otherwise use something like Wordpress because PHP has a pretty heavy learning curve.

http://www.name.com/ is probably the BEST domain name provider on the planet.

Note about Cheap webhosts ($50-$100 usd/year). You get what you pay for and it's usually an overpopulated shared server that crashes or runs sluggish compared to a more costly host with dedicated resources (VPS, certain shared hosting and Dedicated servers).

Mythril, honestly, you need at least an idea of how a website works. You need to understand a HTML page, a CSS stylesheet, and you also need to understand your SQL database in order to do maintenance work and solve the problems which may arise.
You may not need to be able to create a website from scratch, but your knowledge must be decent enough to understand your own website.

Byethost is pretty good for a free host and you can upgrade to a paid service if you need it - the best package is around 120-150$ per year if memory serves right.

I highly advise googling "w3schools" and going through the HTML section. It won't take long and it will give you a LOT better info than any website builder.

I agree, w3schools is really the best and has basically *every* info one needs to built a website.

www.webs.com is good if you're not familiar with coding, But you tend to be limited on creating things.

I believe webs let you code a small website from scratch, without using their website builder. If so, go with that option, and use w3schools to learn how to create your pages.

Honestly though at first it is very simple. As simple as

<html>
<head><title>Your Webpage</title></head>

<body>
<b>Some text</b>
</body>

</html>

And then plugging in the various bits of code you learn from w3.

I know 2 websites that you can use to make websites for free. Although you have to use a public domain. If you don't want to use a Public Domain then you have pay. (I'm pretty sure you knew that) Go to weebly.com, it's the best that I know of.

Webs is horrible. If your site doesn't generate decent traffic, you lose it.

You should probably just save money, learn the html, CSS and SQL, and pay for a site.

I'm not using w3schools, I'm using weebly and it's easy, I'm already creating my website. I can create a free sub domain name and when it's finished , I can publish it to the public without paying for it (I think that's what it on about) or I can make into a real website and pay $5 per month for it - over here in the uk, that'll be £4, I find it hard to believe that.

Anyway, this website will be for my rpg maker xp projects, which I have a number of them planned and in development. I'll continue on with it and see what happens.

There is a drag and drop site creator you can use for free. I made my site in it, and using the free ver. the Pro one has lots more stuff. There is free hosting and creation. www.weebly.com get an account there and you will be able to make a site like mine, like Drkkmrtr2007 said. Mine is more of a personal site, portfolio kinda.
