Finally, it was Hei's turn to go up at stadium 5, October following right behind him into the arena. The pokemon to be used were two of the same element, Charmander and Torchick, and it was a contest of skill and power on both their parts.

Hei decided to drop the fooling around act. Ever since arriving here, the Syndicate had him working with the police as a special officer to fight off crime, and then assassinate those with too high a risk to be captured alive... his Contract was useless for some reason, and he had no idea why. Knowing October, there was something that he could easily hide, but was currently not sure how it was supposed to go, though he had some idea.

Once they made it to the center of the arena, October turned to Hei, and said, "You know, Li, you really ought to learn to stay away from me in the future, to save yourself the shame."

Hei, deciding to test something out, said in sign language, "You seem confident in yourself, Arnold Kline. Are you holding darkened pokemon?"

October, shocked that he had an opponent that knew sign language, forgot to sign back and yelled, "How did you know that?! Are you a Contractor?!"

Hei decided to end this, and said, "It's time we started, so I'll call out Chiaki!" Holding out his Pokeball, he yelled, "CHIAKI!! Time to show your stuff!!" When he finished yelling out the name, he threw the Pokeball out, and caused Chiaki, his Charmander, to appear.

"Huh. You have a Charmander? I see it's female by the name you gave it," October said, getting cocky. Grabbing "his" Pokeball, he threw it out while yelling, "ALRIGHT, TORCHICK, COME OUT!!"

As the Torchick came out, Hei noticed the same corruption that he saw earlier and thought, "What the hell is up with that corruption?!" He then remembered the clue that he was given, and thought, "Of COURSE!! He's using Dark Pokemon! That would explain the corruption. Now to defeat his Dark Pokemon."

After the referee explained the rules, the battle commenced. It was obvious that the Dark Pokemon had little training, so Hei yelled, "Let's end this with a BANG!! IRON TAIL!!"

The declaration of a Pokemon with Iron Tail was close to unheard of, let alone a Charmander... then again, a Kanto region kid had a Pikachu that could do it, but still, that was supposed to be an urban legend. Soon enough, Chiaki's tail glowed a bright white and smashed at the enemy Torchick, knocking it unconscious.

"Torchick is unable to battle! Victory goes to Charmander!!"

October was speechless... how could he have known that his first opponent would have a pokemon that knew Iron Tail? Cipher wasn't going to be happy about this. All that thievery was going to go down the drain. He then realized that his next match was going to be later, and he might have a chance soon to get back at Hei, so he decided to leave for now.

Hei simply recalled Chiaki, knowing that he needed to conserve energy for his pokemon, simple as that. With that done, he walked to the waiting room, and decided to wait for his turn again.

Hearth looked out over the area that Steel had pointed out, but didn't find anything in particular. So, he just shrugged it off and lifted the little Riolu up onto his shoulders. "Now then, that's three of us, but..." he looked around, wondering where the fourth leg of their party was, "Where's Snow gotten off to? She was supposed to meet me at the Cafeteria but..." he turned wholly around to glance over the mentioned eatery, "Yea, still empty." He gave a sigh, then looked up at the electronic sign. It seemed that his battle was already scheduled... "Stadium four... Hm? Hey, it says I have to use..." Hearth reached down to place a hand on the only occupied ball at his waist, then gave a bit of a grin. "Well then, Atlas old buddy, it looks like you're up." That said, he gave a sort of relieved laugh and started off towards the aforementioned stadium, looking up with a slight grin towards Steel, "It's a good thing too, 'cause I have no clue where Snow is!"

~~~
Where Snow is...
~~~

Aya had somehow managed to stop petting Snow, her attention too focused on the electronic screen above. She mumbled something, and the Ninetails finally opened her eyes to see what was so interesting. An electronic board with a spinning wheel and some names... but what were they choosing? "Hey, I'm supposed to go to Stadium nine to battle some kid named uh... Steven. What about -" the voice came from some random by-passer, and normally Snow would have ignored something like that. But it managed to jog her memory, this time, and she looked up at the board with renewed interest. "Their picking match ups... Oh yea, this was a tournament huh?" the fire fox stretched, then pulled herself up into a sitting position by Aya, "Hm... I'd sort of forgotten..." She shrugged, or pulled the fox equivalent of shrugging at least, then turned her attention toward the cafeteria just across the way. "No Hearth... so he must have already gone on ahead." For a moment, Snow was concerned that Hearth might be worried about her. Then she remembered that it was Hearth she was thinking of, and banished the thought. "Well then... I'll just stick with you." she said, looking pointedly up at Aya. After all, Aya was participating with in the tournament too, so it was reasonable to assume that Hearth would appear sooner or later, just so long as she stuck near the action. ... And yea, the girl was way better at petting than Hearth.

(OOC: Guys, for sake of continuity, please forget about my guy having anything to do with the Syndicate and the Contractor business. Just Mao is from another universe in this game, though I'm not sure how it's supposed to go here, okay?)

Grey stoop patiently in the ring waiting for his opponent. The match was starting soon, which made Grey consider the possibility that his opponent would not show up at all. He was so used to getting places early, that the rest of the world seemed late.
But, man was the stadium packed. hundreds people would be watching the match, not counting the ones who watched over the monitors.
He thought back to the battle in stadium 5, he watched over the monitor while waiting for his name to be called. The guy had a iron-tail using Charmander. A bad match up for Sneasle. He was glad he wasn't paired with that guy this round.
Eventually a trainer emerged from the other end, and suprise suprise, it was the trainer from before, with the Riolu from before.
"Well, what a coincidence..."

Hearth emerged from the wide open doors that led into the stadium to find that his opponent was already in place, and waiting patiently for his arrival, too. The man opposite the stadium seemed somewhat surprised to see him, though it was sort of hard to say why. Suddenly, he felt a tug on the back of his head as steel stood up to point out across the arena towards their opponent, shouting "Riolu!" as though he himself were shocked. Hearth leaned back slightly and looked up at Steel, "Wait, do we know this guy?" he asked. Steel gave a quick nod and smiled, "Ri, ri!" ... "Ohh, okay. Back to business then." Their quiet exchange done and forgotten, Steel threw his arm out, pointing at Grey and shouting "Riolu!" once more- only this time, he did it in unison with his trainer. "You!" Hearth shouted, shock evident in his voice despite the fact that he still had no clue who it was he was pointing at, "How ironic that we should face each other here! This shall be our grandest battle!"

Hei was lounging about, wondering what was going to happen, when his radio suddenly went off. It was Mao.

"Nice battle there, Hei," he said. "October was trying to make a break for it, but the security detail is stopping him, and forced him to stay here to fight in the challenges."

"that's good, Mao," Hei replied. "Anything else?"

"No, not really, though Yin wishes you good luck."

"Ah. Tell her I said thanks."

"On it."

With that, the conversation ended, and Hei returned to waiting.

Grey raised an eyebrow at the trainer's remark. He had to agree, it was ironic that the two would battle, consider the time he shared with his opponents Riolu.

"Welcome to another round 1!" boomed the announcer. " In the blue corner: Grey Richardson! And in the red corner: Hearth Lorenson!"
The referee standing in the middle cleared his throat before speaking. "This will be a one-on-one pokemon battle. No special rules." The ref raised his flag, "Begin!"

Grey pulled out a Pokeball. "Well, I hope you're not planning to use the Riolu Mr. Lorenson," said Grey as he tossed the pokeball and caught it. "You could say we've become buddies while you left him unsupervised."
With small talk finished, Grey threw his pokeball. It landed on the ground before bursting open. A bright light gushed out and materialized to form a Sneasle.

"Eh? What are you doing here?" Aya asked once she realized Snow was following her. "Don't you have to find your trainer?" Oh well, it was lucky for her. Aya was happy that Snow was with her. She felt it gave her an extra boost of confidence that she was in dire need of. "Well since you're here, I better at least give you a good battle to watch. Now if only my opponent would show up."

The Devil

Materiality. Material Force. Material temptation; sometimes obsession

The Devil is often a great card for business success; hard work and ambition.Perhaps the most misunderstood of all the major arcana, the Devil is not really "Satan" at all, but Pan the half-goat nature god and/or Dionysius. These are gods of pleasure and abandon, of wild behavior and unbridled desires. This is a card about ambitions; it is also synonymous with temptation and addiction. On the flip side, however, the card can be a warning to someone who is too restrained, someone who never allows themselves to get passionate or messy or wild - or ambitious. This, too, is a form of enslavement. As a person, the Devil can stand for a man of money or erotic power, aggressive, controlling, or just persuasive. This is not to say a bad man, but certainly a powerful man who is hard to resist. The important thing is to remember that any chain is freely worn. In most cases, you are enslaved only because you allow it.

"Ri..." Steel cooed, leaning over Hearth's head to get a better look at the the Sneasle. It wasn't often that the little guy got to see such a reclusive pokemon, so of course he was curious enough for both him and his trainer. "I hear that buddy, we haven't fought a Sneasle before, huh? Well..." he gave an open grin, then pulled the only occupied ball from his waist. With a click, it expanded into his palm, "Use Steel? Nah, he's a little young for fighting. But don't you worry, we'll give you a good fight." Rather suddenly, he threw the ball threw the air, shouting "Go, Atlas!" just before it hit the ground and, in a burst of light, released the Umbreon in question onto the field. "Let's get this thing started!" Hearth shouted, jumping up to catch the now vacant pokeball as it bounced back to him. Atlas didn't wait for orders- he didn't need to, he knew what he was doing. And before it was even clear what he was, he'd shot off across the field, a stringy white vapor trailing behind him as he launched himself into a quick attack, hoping to catch his opponent off guard.

(OOC: You guys know that I'd take on a different person, but there's nobody here for me to fight, right? I just hope that someone is ready to fight me.)

Hei was starting to get curious as to what he was seeing at stadium 9. Was that an Umbreon fighting a Sneasle? He saw that it was starting to get interesting based on what he saw, and he hoped that he didn't have Saito face it, that would be overkill towards Saito.

Suddenly, "Atlas", as it went by, went on it's own accord, seemingly knowing what his master wanted him to do.

He hoped that the Umbreon would be alright... though he didn't know what to expect out of this battle.

OOC: So I guess we should discuss which of is is going to win this match huh?

IC:
Sneasle took a step back, being suprised by Umbreon's sudden attack. Of course he was trained to handle the first blow, and instictively entered the fighting stance. As soon as Umbreon was in range, he swiped with his left arm. Of course the Umbreon ducked to avoid the attack. Unfortunately for Umbreon, this was exactly what Sneasle was hoping for, and before he could react, Sneasle dealt a blow to the Umbreon's side. Fake out: Successful.
Master didn't miss a beat. With Umbreon stunned, he ordered a follow up Ice Punch. Sneasle complied holding it's fist by his head, particles of ice gathering. He swung hoping to score a good hit on the Umbreon.

Hei was shocked... was that fake-out necessary? Surely the Umbreon can avoid what is coming it's way.

"Hei, are you starting to get worried?"

Mao... always having an opportune time to interrupt. With a sigh, Hei responded, "Yes, I am. What do you want out of this?"

"You owe me Persian kibble if the Umbreon loses."

Ah, so that was Mao's game, was it? "And you owe me a battle using your pokemon body next time you're in it should the Umbreon win."

"Deal."

With that, Hei cut off the connection, and watched the match.

Though he didn't cry out his name, Atlas definitely felt that blow. The Sneasle was fast- fast enough to catch him off guard, which was a bad thing. But, he was no slouch himself, and he saw the Ice Punch coming in time to dodge. So, he leaped back, allowing the cool breeze cast by the icy attack to blow over him, helping to raise his state of awareness. After all, he'd been sleeping when Hearth called him out, so he needed a minute to get going... Regardless, the Sneasle was off balance, and Atlas wasn't going to hesitate to take advantage of that. He darted forward, almost close enough to strike the Sneasle- but he paused mid lunge. His attack partially complete Atlas dropped back to the side, then blurred as he shot forward towards the Seasle as it moved to avoid the first, faked attack. Hearth grinned, "Faint Attack. Good choice buddy..."

Grey quickly reassessed the situation. He hated to admit it, but this was an unfavorable matchup. The Umbreon was packing Faint attack, a move nearly impossible to dodge. Fighting close-range wasn't going to win the battle, but extending to fight to medium/long wouldn't help since Umbreon had the quick attack to close the gap.

Sneasle grit it's teeth as it took the blow. He didn't see the attack coming at all. He landed on the dirt growned, but turned the vertical momentum into horizontal by rolling. At least that would prevent more pain. Sneasle pounded the ground in frustration before standing up again. The foe was preparing another attack. Sneasle instictively prepared an Ice Punch, but Master had other plans for him.
"Sneasle, hold your ground."
Sneasle looked back at his master in suprise, but did as he commanded.

(OOC: Xamusel, sorry to be poking you so much, but do avoid mini-posting. It's fine for you to show Hei accompanying the battle, but don't make several one line posts, it's spammy. There's no need to edit or do anything to the ones you've alredy put up, it's just something to keep in mind.)

Howard entered arena number one, snapping his neck; V followed closely behind, waving her tail cheerfully. He looked around the arena, it was made mostly out of dirt.

He looked over at the other side of the arena, waiting for Myra to show up. "All right V, time to kick some ass. Don't go easy on her, just because she's our friend, right?"

Myra looked around in the outside part of the arena. "Here we go Jelli!" She said entering.

Myra placed herself comfortably in the center of her side of the arena and nudged Jelli to go out some. "Good luck."

Howard nodded. "Right then, le-" Howard was interrupted by the arena's narrator, who started speaking on a microphone not far from them. "Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaadies and gentlemen! We will now be witnessing the battle of Howard Taylor's Eevee, V!" V walked forward in the arena, wagging her tail cheerfully and ready for battle.

The narrator continued. "Against Myra Raloy's, Delcatty, Jelli!"

The Narrator then lowered his tone a bit. "But enough introductions, trainers! Take your places!" Howard nodded and walked over to the small square on his edge of the arena.

The Narrator, seeing both of the trainers already in place, rose up his hand. "All right then! Ready...Set...Commence the battle!" He lowered his hand, signaling for the fight to start.

Howard was never in an official tournament before, but he knew what he had to do. He quickly yelled out. "V! Use Quick Attack!" With that, V dashed forward in Delcatty's direction at incredible speed.

When Jelli saw how quickly V had run at her, she quickly dug into the ground without Myra saying anything. "Use grass knot Jelli!" She yelled, hoping Jelli could here hear, even though burrowed into the ground.

V stopped in her tracks, seeing as her target had disappeared. Howard yelled out. "V! The attack is coming from underground! Watch out!" V simply looked around confused, not sure of what she should do.

Jelli tried to crawl out of her hole quietly as possible. "Jelli! Use grass knot then quick attack!" With that Jelli used grass knot and then quick attack straight at V.

As soon as V heard Myra's voice, she jumped, barely dodging the vines that tried to grab her. Sadly, however, since she was now in the air, she wasn't able to dodge the quick attack, the hit knocked V backwards but she fell on her feet. Shook her head and retook a battle position.

Howard grunted slightly. "Right V, time to get serious. Use hidden power!" With that order, several needles that seemed to be made out of pure light emerged out of V's fur and then shot in Delcatty's direction.

There was no way for Jelli to really dodge that, she ended up getting hit with the needles and whimpered. She shook them loose and focused on V" Use thunder bolt Jelli!" And with that she did.

Howard panicked when he saw Jelli charging up the lightning attack. "V! Dig! Now!" V desperately dug itself underground, similarly to how Delcatty had done before. The thunder hit the ground and caused no damage on Eevee, leaving nothing but a few scorch marks on the ground where it fell.

"Be on edge Jelli!" Myra yelled. Jelli looked around and relaxed, trying to feel any movement in the ground.

A small grin appeared on Howard's mouth. "V! Double Team and quick attack!" Suddenly, two Eevee's emerged out of the ground, one was probably a fake, but they both charged in Delcatty's direction.

Jelli turned around quickly with as much time as she could build anything, she used calm mind. Hopefully raising her defense some. "Good job Jelli!"

As expected, one of the Eevee's poofed into thin air, while the other, the real V charged head on against Delcatty. Getting both locked in a parry...Of heads.

Jelli was forced back a bit but instantly started charging hyper beam.

Upon noticing that Jelli was going to use hyper beam, Eevee jumped back. Howard then yelled out yet another command. "V! Shadow ball!" A huge sphere of darkness appeared in V's mouth, at first it was small, but it eventually started growing larger and larger, and then V spit it in Delcatty's direction.

Jelli opened her eyes and saw a purple ball come at her, at that time she let go over her hyper beam.

Both of the attacks hit against each other and confronted for a moment, before exploding and covering the whole arena in smoke. The narrator spoke up. "DAMN, THAT WAS INTENSE! Now let's wait for the smoke to die down and see who's the winn-" As the smoke died down, the crowd gasped as they saw both Jelli and V unconscious on the ground. The narrator announced. "IT'S A TIE!"

Myra stepped forward slightly worried about Jelli, but then remembered they weren’t yet aloud to cross their lines.

With a sigh, Howard dashed forward towards V, picking her up in his arms and completely forgetting about the safety rules. "Hey there, V, are you all right?" V simply answered with a dazzled moan. Howard chuckled. The Narrator called out. "I'm sorry, Mr. Taylor, but you're not allowed to move out of your square until I’ve given you my okay!"

The Narrator continued. "And as such, I’m sorry but I have no choice but to declare Jelli the winner of this battle!" The big screen at the top of the arena flashed Jelli's image, with a winner tag below it. "You two may now take your pokemon to the Poke Center and prepare for the next battle!" Howard frowned, staring at the flashing screen above him.

Myra ran to Jelli and scooped her into her arms quickly. "Good match..." She stuck one hand out to shake with Howard.

Howard smiled weakly over to Myra. "Yeah, right." He shook her hand and immediately after walked away to the Poke Center.

Myra looked at him. I think he’s mad at me... She thought and then followed out to the Poke Center.

Hei was interested in that battle involving an Eevee called V, partnered with Howard Taylor, against a Delcatty named Jelli that was partnered with a girl named Myra Raloy. He didn't know what the rules were, but he was glad that he didn't move out of the square then in his last battle, because that would've made it suicide in the tournament.

Just then, Mao called up, "Hei, we got to look out for both the Eevee and the girl with the Delcatty. If either beat us, we're toast!"

Hei asked, "We? I'm not sure when you take part, but-"

"YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!! The girl has more than that Delcatty with her, and the Eevee is strong enough on it's own!! Whatever you do, Hei, please, don't lose to her!!" With that, he cut off the call, leaving Hei confused.

(OOC: I know, i know, i was just say- er...Typing. No harm meant.)

Howard arrived at the Pokemon Center and handed Eevee, now inside his pokeball, to the Clefairy that was taking care of the counter. The Clefairy put Howard's pokeball in some kind of machine, the machine emmited a low hum as it did something within the pokeball itself. Howard sat by the counter, staring at the machine and waiting for Eevee to be healed.

Atlas was poised to launch forward in another quick lunge- but before he could, Hearth called out to give him a bit of direction, "Hey, Atlas, hold on. That Sneasle's fast enough to counter you regardless of what attack you use, so stay on your toes until we know what they can do." The Umbreon tilted it's head to look at Hearth, shocked at the suggestion. Never once had he said they should play it defensively, so why... And then he saw the grin, the look that he was being given. Right, he was just throwing everyone off. ... Like Atlas would have followed those commands anyways- that's not how they did things. Hearth leaned forward slightly, smiling, and spoke in a lower voice than before, obviously speaking to Atlas himself, "Go on buddy, show 'em what you're made of."

Oh those were the magic words. Atlas's ears perked up and he turned his attention back to the enemy, and the grin that Hearth had been wearing seemed to transfer over to the Umbreon. "Umbre..." Right then... Atlas said, crouching down slightly as though he were waiting for whatever attack the Sneasle might throw. "On!" Go! Atlas blurred, then shot forward, silky strands of light flowing behind his indistinct image as he quickly approached his opponent- but it didn't stop there. In mid run, he turned, suddenly veering off towards the wall- then turning to dash up up it. He slowed slightly before he reached the top, then kicked off, throwing himself into the air above his opponent.
