So today was the release of Black OPs, and I was actually going to go to the midnight release to get it but instead I had someone pick it up for me today. The past couple days I've been playing Modern Warfare 2 in order to get ready for Black OPs and it didn't really help much seeing how this game is lacking.. quite a bit.. The currency system is a neat addition.. but.. you still need to unlock guns, and then you have to buy them anyway. So instead of getting to level 30 and unlocking some gun you've had your heart set on, you now have to pay a few thousand Call of Duty points (CD) to get it. I think it's cool how them implemented the currency system, but it could use a little tweaking. Another thing that I found irritating, is the spawns.. very horrible spawns. There's a map call Nuke Town which is VERY small and if you sit in a back yard you can actually spawn camp and kill the entire team as they spawn. When your team mates die they can respawn right in front of you, and I mean RIGHT in front of you. If you're getting shot at and you try to run and BOOP there's a team mate, more times then not, the person chasing you will kill you both, which leads me to my next little rant.. kill streaks. It seems like people die WAY too fast in this game. You will hear "Friendly Spy Plane incoming" about 100 times a match, and that's not including "Enemy Spy Plane Incoming" either. When I first started off playing multiplayer I was using the default classes (you're forced to) and I realized that customization in this game is CRITICAL. When I obtained the ability to create custom classes, and I had enough money, I started to take a look around at what I could buy. In the end I ended up buying the Slight of Hand (faster reload) and Marathon (run longer) perks, along with the Scorpion SMG with extended magazines. I also bought concussion grenades and C4 and after this little boost in my arsenal I DOMINATED match after match. Eventually my ego got the best of me and my skill started to diminish but not before I realized something else that's irritating.. the FAMAS assault rifle is now fully automatic, when it's been a semi-auto for many games. After playing a few more games of multiplayer I headed over to the zombie game type, which I was slightly excited about, only to be let down by annoying little children, team mates who didn't help you up if you needed to be revived, people who stole your weapons out of the "Random Weapon Chest," and people who constantly told me what to do; along with a massive army of zombies and zombie dogs coming at me because no one else either wanted to use ammo, or they just didn't care.
Along with all of these, the graphics and "Fun" feel to this game feels as if it's gone. The graphics make me feel like I'm playing a slightly upgraded Nintendo 64 version of Rainbow Six and there isn't any background sound or music besides sometimes leveling up and the normal gunfire between teams. This is the first Call of Duty game I've ever purchased (I got Modern Warfare 2 for free) and I can honestly say I'm 75% disappointed so far, but the other 25% does enjoy playing. Does anyone else have this game yet, and if so, what are you opinions, and if you don't own this game, do you plan on getting it?

This is one of those games that I looked at and thought to myself, "Oh look, another hype game that isn't going to be any better than the previous version and here's another FPS game that I don't have time to play". =P
I think it was given too little attention, but then gained a lot of hype as the release date got closer - I heard that it would be good, but I have my doubts and I don't want to waste my time or money trying to find out. =P
I never really got into CoD.. like.. I never bought one, I didn't really care if I played it, etc, but after playing a lot of Modern Warfare 2 and then seeing B. OPs being advertised I thought I'd give it a shot so I bought it.
Although I agree that the spawn system is crap, this game is so much more enjoyable than MW2 for me so far. As for dying, a lot of people actually thinks it takes longer to kill since they're all so used to using Stopping Power. I however see no problem though since I've never really used Stopping Power in MW2 until close to this game's release date. Just keep in mind that since the game is brand new, a lot of those Spy Plane calls are probably by people who camp since they're all too reluctant to explore the map. Oh, and if MW2 was your first CoD game, it might be understandable why you're not enjoying this game as much.
As for Zombies, play with people you know so that you'll actually enjoy it rather than hating it because the random people are idiots. Just understand that there are times when people can't come revive you (Most likely on dog rounds), and everyone needs to leverage off of each others points in the beginning if you guys ever hope to make it far. As for the Mystery Box, don't worry too much about opening it until you reach the 10s.
The currency system is pretty useless, but the Campaign is much better than the previous installment and the multiplayer is still fairly fun.
The goriness was a nice touch, too, since Infinity Ward's CoD games pissed me off from the lack of extra flourish they could have added.
I still think the game was way overhyped, though, and I'd say that it's a little better than average at best. The hitscanning for bullets still sucks ass, the CoD points system was a marvelous concept, but executed retardedly, and the lack of thought put into the maps is pretty apparent.

MW2 wasn't my first, I played Call of Duty 4, and I had played a few of the old ones before, but not for very long. I try to not use stopping power, as it's pretty useless; sure it does more damage but I'd rather have quicker reloading over more damage.
Exactly. 1 Extra bullet isn't much if your aiming is pretty accurate, but yeah. I usually either use Cold Blooded or Hardline in that spot when I'm not using Stopping Power.
MW2 would've been a lot more fun if there wasn't so many game breaking exploits like: Marathon + Lightweight + Commando, One Man Army or Scavenger + Grenade Launcher, Silenced UMP that can kill anyone with 2-3 bullets across any map, and some others I may be forgetting. Then again, I probably just like Black Ops more because it has that WaW feel to it. I didn't get to play much of CoD4 because by the time I had the game, WaW came out so I immediately moved on to that game.
Like half of the kids at my school skipped just to play it. But all my friends say it was a let-down. And I personally agree. I think they're just making the same game over and over again with different weapons. Nothing gets me asleep faster than what I just stated above.
Im not a massive CoD fan and if I was to give it a rating i'd rate it second to WaW. IMO its much better than MW and MW2 as they are dreadful games (IMO!). WaW is definately the best CoD game to date but BO isnt far off it. The campaign in BO is spectacular especially since I share the same first name with the main character (Alex). However Veteran... Its WAW all over again!! Grenade spams, infinitely spawning enemies and near instant death. Its not far off impossible.
Zombies I have to agree with you. TEAM MATES! IF SOMEBODY GOES DOWN DEAR GOD TRY TO REVIVE THEM! A tactic I try to use (Yet have been unsuccesful with) is to get a pack-a-punch ballistic knife which can be used to shoot downed teamates to bring them back to life and
Just in case...
nabbing you that last secret achievement you so desperately need.
Oh and I couldnt agree with you more about the spawns. God there awful! Especially as you mentioned, on Nuke Town!
My overall verdict: 7/10. Good campaign yet the repetitively boring multiplayer. I just thank God Nukes have gone and dogs have made a return .
Just so you can compare my ratings of the other ones are: WaW: 8/10 MW: 6.5/10 MW2: 5/10

Man it has been ages since I last came on this site xD. But with the recent (localized) release of RPG maker VX Ace (and thanks to a bit of money I recently came into possession of ^_^) how could I stay away?? :). But its been a good 2 years since I updated my profile (seeing as my about me page said I was 15, when im now 17 years of age). Well anyway glad to be back :). I probably wont be a commonly seen face (or... profile) but I hope to prolong my stay :). And yes my signature is the same as my about me page, mainly due to the fact that im lazy ;D.

I don't have the game. I don't think I want the game... I am constantly annoyed everyday by everyone in the world to get the game... Why am I posting here? Sorry about that. *leaves*
^ Blame Activision. They like to milk franchises by making a new entry every year. At least with this one, Treyarch is actually listening to the community, unlike Infinity Ward.
The thing that pisses me off almost as much as the recycling in CoD: BO is the anachronistic weapons.
The game takes place in 1968, but yet you have AK74 derivatives, the nebulous "enfield" (actually an SA80), the CZ75 pistol, 80% of the submachinegun unlocks (including the MP5K, which didn't appear until the mid seventies), the WA2000, and some others that I can't recall at the moment.
I'm not one for total historical accuracy or anything, but the period DID have a number of interesting guns ( some of which are still from WWII, so Treyarch could have recycled more than they did in terms of production...)
If I do decide to purchase the game, it'll only be for the campaign (which I hear is dead awesome btw)
What got me excited to play the game? (campaign lol)
Spoiler
The fact that the entire story revolves around you assassinating JFK and the fact that Nixon and Fidel Castro are in it behind the conspiracy is all too damn awesome to me. If our government are really free masons & part of the Illuminati or whatever, then Treyarch spilled all of their beans O_o
I agree, the story was amazing. At first you're playing and like "Oh this is cool" then when everything comes together you're like "OMFG O_O." I don't understand about the weapons but the story does revolve around different years, I'm not sure what years exactly so I can't really comment on the whole weaponry thing, except depending on what years the game actually takes place, the weapons might of been available.
Basically, this has been the only game I've been playing since it came out. When REACH came out I played it for about a week and lost interest, but this game has me playing everyday. It's actually a pretty good game, the mulitplayer just takes a little getting used to.
The campaign was brilliant. Seriously, Tom Clancys jaw fucking dropped near the end. It wasn't melodramatic, but it was damn intense enough to keep you rolling the whole time.
The multiplayer is way better. Sure, there are issues, but they can be patched really easily and Treyarch is doing a great job of that. The speed of the killing is also better, since I always hated how much faster paced MW2 was than MW1. I like the slowed down pace. also, the fact that they added a more strategic touch to the customization options and perks, is really sweet.
Mw1> Black ops>Mw2

At first i was like "Why the hell is everybody getting so hyped over this game?" But secretly i wanted it so bad, just didnt realise how much i wanted this game, so the day it came out, i tryed to make my parents feel sorry for me by saying "Ugh, everyone at school has this game" and they eventually bought it me, and i was pretty happy with it at first, then after about a week of playing, the same thing that makes me hate call of duty happened again, i got so pissed of with it, the crappy spawn system, over use of over powered guns, pointless credit system, and i vowed to never play mp again, no i only play zombies :3
Black Ops: 5/10 WaW: 9.9/10 Mw2: 6/10 CoD4: 7/10
The one thing that pissed me off the most, was that i actually thought they where getting rid of Noob Tubes, instead, they made it easier for them to be gained (Credit System) so the first thing most people bought was Grenade launchers :/
