Many of us roleplayers have made quite a few roleplays, or at least characters throught time, I was wondering if there would be any interest in a giant cross over, using only previously made characters from previous RPs (asside from a handful of new villains of course).

The story would be original and have NOTHING to do with any of the charcter's original rps.

All characters would still be able to use there old abilities/weapons/ect. (No Deathnote though XP) Regardless of if they had died, or there rp just died and they didn't quite get to show all there skills yet.

I know at least a few of you wish to bring back some of your old characters tongue.gif
AND if we do this, it gives a chance to actually see some of the scenarios some of us thought of and posted in the RP award thread.

Any interest?

[Show/Hide] My Arcana

You are the World
Completion, Good Reward.

The World is the final card of the Major Arcana, and as such represents saturnian energies, time, and completion.

The World card pictures a dancer in a Yoni (sometimes made of laurel leaves). The Yoni symbolizes the great Mother, the cervix through which everything is born, and also the doorway to the next life after death. It is indicative of a complete circle. Everything is finally coming together, successfully and at last. You will get that Ph.D. you've been working for years to complete, graduate at long last, marry after a long engagement, or finish that huge project. This card is not for little ends, but for big ones, important ones, ones that come with well earned cheers and acknowledgements. Your hard work, knowledge, wisdom, patience, etc, will absolutely pay-off; you've done everything right.

I think it would be nice for a joke and for bringing a range of concepts together, a la Smash Brothers Brawl. However ... It would be hard to take such a story seriously. That's why I think it would have to be more of a parody kind of roleplay. =|
Still, I feel it has potential. =)

While the idea sounds so awesome on paper, I doubt it will actually work in practice. I think that if this went through players will have fun acting out crazy senario's where the character's meet up as suggested in RM awards, but then loose interest.

What the RP needs is a solid foundation that could function despite the diverse range of characters. Balancing issues are a problem I already forsee.

But it is a neat idea, and I would certainly be onboard if we can work out the kinks.

Ya I havn't started anything on it, so it has more then enough time to have kinks worked out, and ya, it kinda would be quite the parody. Cross edge and trinity universe were kinda the inspiration for this idea. They seemed to have decent stories (least as far in as I got they did) and they used a handeful of joke characters. (Seriously, using Prinny? lol)

I havn't played enough crossover games to make a great judgment call but I thought of two ways we can try and make this work.

1. Make up an original plot just like any other role play, preferably one where all the characters will be working together to take down a big baddy. The only twist is, this team of extraordinary individuals is comprised of previous RP characters.

2. Maybe some kind of verses senario. Select maybe two or three very successfuly RP's and produce a senario where the RP's are fighting for dominance over the other ones.

Problem I see is that both these senarios impose limitations, either in interaction, or selection of characters respectivly. But it might be better to set boundries than have everyone doing their own thing.

I've been looking to get back into the RP community. I know I probably ruined a lot of RP's when I stopped logging into RRR for awhile(long story). I've kinda been avoiding you guys because I was ashamed of my actions. But it takes a real man to admit his mistakes and I apologize to anyone I've let down.

That being said, I would definitely join this one if you guys would have me. Also, I know this is necro-posting because it's been exactly a month since the last post but who cares. I feel it has potential and would like to see it happen.

These are gods of pleasure and abandon, of wild behavior and unbridled desires. This is a card about ambitions; it is also synonymous with temptation and addiction. On the flip side, however, the card can be a warning to someone who is too restrained, someone who never allows themselves to get passionate or messy or wild - or ambitious. This, too, is a form of enslavement. As a person, the Devil can stand for a man of money or erotic power, aggressive, controlling, or just persuasive. This is not to say a bad man, but certainly a powerful man who is hard to resist. The important thing is to remember that any chain is freely worn. In most cases, you are enslaved only because you allow it.

Well, it seems planning topics get somewhat of a free pass when it comes to necro posting.

And it's good to see you back Satou. I'm not quite sure why you felt like you let us down, or why you felt like avoiding the RP community. Sometimes things happen, and for the most most part, we here understand that Role-playing has to be set aside.

Omnial said he'd get things worked out, but for the most part we havn't had much progress. But, it's school-time right now so I won't exactly blame him. But keep a few ideas ready, in the case that we get things moving.

Thanks. I guess I felt pretty bad because looking around, I saw all of the RP's I had been posting in are dead know and thought it was my fault things ended up that way.

As for plot, the first thing that came to my mind was sort of a Dissidia Final Fantasy thing. Where something is going down and heroes from a myriad of worlds are called forth to do battle. That's all I have so far. I don't want to copy DFF exactly so I'll keep thinking about it.

I think a Dissidia type story would be pretty interesting.

Considering this crossover is based on Original Role Plays, I think it would be kind of unfair to use a single world that was based on one of the RP's.
Instead, I think creating a new world for the characters would be better, since then it would be kind of cool to incorporate previous unique aspects of the characters respective worlds, kind of all melted together in some kind of warped fashion.

Yeah, that would be pretty cool. It's gonna be tough choosing which character I wanna play. lol I have a couple of awesome characters from KH and FFXIII RP's but those aren't on this site so they don't count. xD My more memorable characters, to me at least, were from .hack, Dead Rising, S4, FFCC, Plague of the Havens, and Mass Effect. I know I've had way more but I can't really remember those. lol

Well it seems like common opinion wants a blended world. Now we need an interesting backstory to explain it.

Satou, I envy you for having enough characters to not remember them all. Sucks, that I really only have two characters that have been developed to the point where I think I could make use of them.

Yeah, I'll try and think about it some.

lol I've been in dozens of roleplays on a bunch of different websites over the years, this one and Myspace being my favorites. The ones on Myspace are the KH and FFXIII ones and are conducted through a series of private messages between me and a friend. Some of the RP's I've joined here didn't even have a dozen posts and some never took off. My first RP experience was Dungeons & Dragons in middle school, then forum-based RP's freshman year of high school. I've been RP'ing here for about two years. Good times. lol

I have been busy with work for a while, then being just plain undermotivated for everything. So story wise, not as much as I would of liked done on my end.

But my idea is more or less what you guys all thought of on your own as well, with an original world, but all the characters from previous places. The thought more or less came from Cross Edge and Trinity Universe. (Both are excellent imo)

I was also questioning weither characters should have memory of their home worlds. They could know who they are, and recognise if they have ties to others, but other than that, no real memories.

I think that they should have some memories. A little hazy to give that sense of "wtf is going on?" feel, but still retain some. Other than that, I can't offer anymore input at the moment. I will mull it over the next few days and get back to you.

Am I the only one who wants to make a mock-serious RP.
Mix up the worlds:
It's a semi-virtual wonderland with great seas, skies, magics, but with dark noir cities and governments. Technologies that put sci-fi to shame, but sunsets that blow your mind. Several groups battle for control of 'The Forum' a mystical place capable of creating anything just from imagination.
Each of these groups is led by a 'dream seeker', a person nearly incapable of death, who can see things coming before they happen and is capable of altering events around them (within reason).
The first Dream Seeker is called:
CAPTAIN SPARROWSMITH ph34r.gif

Yes, we Roleplay as ourselves. We each create a character with an augmentation of our own R3 Username, then we control a crew or team of our RP characters and battle with each other for the forum.
Cptn Sparrowsmith, and his parrot RoRow, aboard their ship 'The Philosopher', equipped with a mismatched crew:
Damien - a magician and scholar of the arcane
Daniel - an ex-mafia business man
Dick and Dom - twin children mages, wielders of the black and white magics
Lawrence - a gambling time abuser
Chase and Trace - Two ex-detectives, masters of strategy and logical deduction
etc etc

This is just an example made of my RP characters. The basic idea is that we pit all our RP characters against each other, and have them die. The only characters that are protected from death are our Dream Seekers (or whatever) which are our personas (Sparrowsmith in my case) which can only be killed once the rest of the team is gone.
Think of it as a Chess game, or some kind of Rock Paper Scissors. Some characters can beat others, but the king can only be taken when it is exposed...

I reckon this could be pretty darn fun. sweat.gif

I actually do like that idea, although i'm afraid Spirit's collection of sociopaths is going to cut through a lot of other characters like butter. -sweatdrop-

That's the beauty of us RPing as ourselves though, we have control over the characters motivations. Our characters are inventions of us, so if I wanted to turn Damien into a sociopath all I have to do is give him motivation.
"Hey Damien, those spells you studied under Arthur, these are the only people you'll ever be justified to use them on. Wouldn't it be a waste not to?"
"Good idea, Sparrow."
*turns into a walking, talking, exploding man made of plasma, electrifying, frying, burning and eviscerating everything that moves*

For the sake of keeping things interesting, we also have the ability to create 'foot soldiers' but they are destroyed as soon as they are interfered with (breaking a sword, piercing the flesh, etc, anything that alters the image significantly).
This could be a really interesting idea. Not to mention the world will be filled with people, so sometimes it will work to your advantage to be the 'good guy' so that you can get aid or call in favors from people.
It's basically a RP set in every writer's dreamland, where anything and everything is possible. It's even part digital (So the hack players can get in on it) which doesn't even have to be explained.

Only the dream seekers know what is really going on, that it is simply a made up world, all other characters are either inventions, projections or figments.

Inventions - fully developed characters created by Dream Seekers. They have abilities and can practically warp reality. Given enough energy a Dream Seeker can resurrect them or invent wholly new ones (for the sake of consistency we'll have to put a limit on how many are alive at once for each person)

Projections - Foot soldiers of the Dream Seekers. They can serve any immediate purpose but are destroyed if their image distorts (You can create them set fire to a forest, but if they get wet then they're image has changed and they'll be destroyed. Strong winds, water, fire, dust, basically anything that changes their appearance causes them to disappear forever. They have no personalities or specific abilities, but can be created with certain traits.

Figments - 'Real' people that live within the world. They have personalities, and are capable of becoming dream seekers - but most of them are lost within the dream land, forever. They still have influence and power within the world though, and can be valuable allies.

I'm getting carried away, other people should have a say in this sweat.gif

I for one, am against that idea. gives players too many charcters (or can), And putting us into the actual roleplay is a bad idea also. Doing so would greatly raise the chance of god modding or personal disputes.

It goes against the re-use of characters doesn't it?

But I really like part of the foundation Sparrow proposed. The setting being the forums and having the concept of "Dream seekers." Though they would have to be specific RP characters than ourselves.
