Are the work examples meant to be an example review you have written in the past, or an example of your writing skills? (I can supply both, whereas a really old review of mine may or may not be as well written as I can do today, and an example of my writing skill today wouldn't be a review.)

The Reviewers will base their score on more than just screenshots, and therefore a higher mark achieved.
The problem is that your listing of screenshots is meant as both an example of your game, and a means to grab your audience's attention, and make them WANT to play your game, or at least give consideration to it. If you fail on all counts with a screenshot, then the only question to be asked, is "why did you even post a screenshot?" When I see a blank field filling beyond the screen with no decoration, and just the hero-character standing there facing the camera, I don't even want to touch it, high grade or not. And if the grade given truly is that high, when the preview material has NOTHING to show for it, I can't help but believe the available reviewers should be far more strict.

If you feel your reviews today would be better than your old ones then I suggest you do a new one, and that would also show your writing style.
As for the screenshot issue- we ask for those to be included to give a flavour of the game, if its a blank field shown as an example of how our reviewer thought the game could be improved then it proves a point. There may not be a good map to use.
You could have a fantastic map and a rubbish game- but the review is to show all aspects of a game. Bad mapping may not bother some people,

*smirks* This looks like something for me! I'm used to this stuff, I used to be a writer on a video game site as the review writer. It was small stuff, but I have experience. I'd be both serious and comical in the review, and I would give the truth...no matter how harsh. xD. I'll PM Holder.

I actually have a question regarding this. I'm very interested, as I love games, reviews, and writing, but I'm really busy. How often would you expect me to write if I became a reviewer? I'm still working on my own project, and I have a job and school, so my absolute MAXIMUM would be one short game a month. I mean, it actually sort of works out, as I'm more interested in doing previews than reviews. I feel like I'd rather have input into the process than a critique of the final product. Let me know if you're still interested, and I'll see if I can't find a nice sized demo or short game to review and pm you. Thanks!
Edit: After response
Fair enough! Thanks anyway, and I look forward to seeing the new reviews you guys come up with.

I would actually be interested in being a reviewer on here. First of all, I thoroughly complete a game before I post up any review (as some games get better later on in the game and vice-versa). Secondly, I will take apart the game piece by piece, look at it for what the developer did with what they were given, how they changed it, what they added, etc. Also, I will not EVER say for someone to NOT play a game, even if I give it a bad review the developers went to a lot of time and effort to make these things for us to play, and I respect that. I also have a unique perspective on how games are, as opposed to how they "ought to be". I'm always on the lookout for something different, something that takes our notions of what constitutes what, and throws them out the window. I did a number of reviews already for sites like Gamershell.com, RPG.net, and so on. I will be fair, critical, yet not rude nor sarcastic. I judge a game by what it is, not what I think it should be. With that being said, I hope I can be part of the Reviewing staff.
Another reason we've said prefer Revolutionary or above because there's main site reviews, so if someone has been submitting reviews/previews to the main site games then they'd not be getting any increase on their posts to reach the revolutionary group.

I think you need to read the first post and see what the criteria is, for example how many posts you need before applying and then what is required after.
If you fit the brief we would like to see what you have to offer.
The link you provided wasn't working Fear, so here it is lol. Good luck on becoming a reviewer. If it's any consultation I waited until the movie was out on DVD before watching it after I read Fear's post about it.
Since I'm back on the internet, I may as well give it a shot.
Could you pick a small demo and do a review on that instead? We would like an example of how you describe gamplay, images and related items..it would help us more - thanks
Hello there Kaz my dear (do you mind if I call you Miss Moneypenny?)
I'm hereby applying for the post as reviewer. Given my success in foiling the plans of SPECTRE I think I am more than capable of outlining the short comings of a few ameteur RPGs built out of Final Fantasy rips and running on a story that a twelve year old wrote, verily!
And please make me a sandwhich while you're at it!
