Do you know the problem, that you want to work on your game on your netbook, which has a resolution of 1280x700 or 1024x600, but the RPG Maker XP/VX refuses to start because it wants at least 1024x768?

I had this problem with some other programs as well, so I wrote a little tool, which allows you to bypass such restrictions at any program. (If then a window doesn't fit onto your screen, it's your problem^^)

Here is it:

FakeRes will make any application believe that your screen has a resolution different from the real one. Some applications refuse to start if the screen resolution is too low, even if it wouldn’t cause a problem. With FakeRes, you can use these applications (like RPG Maker XP/VX or HUAWEI’s Mobile Connect software) on your netbook (or other device with low resolution) too. You just have to select the application you want to trick into working and click “Create Shortcut” to create a shortcut on your desktop which will launch this application with a fake resolution. Optionally, you can specify which resolution should be faked.

Best regards,
Cherry

That's actually a pretty good idea. But yeah, the windows aren't resized so we still have to move them around sometimes.

Lol? or you could just do what i do.

1. open start.
2. click control panel.
3. open "dsiplay"
4. click the settings tab.
5. there is a bar in the bottom left. it says "screen resolution" you can change it anywhere from 800 x 600 to 1920 x 1080.

I have an acer mini netbook lol. the resolution is just 1 step down from able to run RMVX.

....and my way doesn't need any installations or applications, no offense cherry. I'm just saying it's easier and safer my way.

How is it easier to change resolution every time you want to work on your project instead of using a simple app? :s

Sure but if you actually liked that resolution, chances are you'd be using it anyway.

True, but if you wanted to run Rpg makers on your computer in the first place, why would you have a mini netbook? tongue.gif Lol.

We got your point Prelude, so please stop arguing. Plus, Cherry specifically said that this app was more directed to people whose netbook can't switch to the proper res.

Why didn't this exist before. When I had an other laptop, it had a screen resolution of 800 x 600 I think so RMXP didn't work. Somehow though, I found out a way to change the resolution in the driver or something, I don't remember, so that it was bigger than the actual screen. This was reset so I had to redo it every time I started my computer, but it worked.

Sorry to bump, but I want to point out another feature of this worth noting:

I hooked up my PC to my HDTV and found it wouldn't run the RPG_RT because the native resolution (320x240) was way too small. With FakeRes, the game runs just fine.

Also, regarding changing your screen resolution in display, that is a graphic-specific setting. Some netbooks do not have it.

Thanks for this, Cherry.

Thanks to this, I can run RPG maker VX on my Toshiba netbook. Problem is I can't run the WHOLE database. If it's just the Apply/Okay buttons, then all I had to do is press Enter on the Keyboard of Okay/Apply. And click on the X on the corner to cancel. But NOPE! It covered more than just those 3 bottom buttons. I can't continue with this project unless there's a way around this somehow.
