But, yeah SOLID, there's tons of game threads around here for you to take a look at and see what you should do with yours. But, yeah, it does seem like you have almost nothing right now, so your game would be better for Game Theory and Design.

GT&D is for games that haven't really started yet, and they're only in the planning phase. Even if they have a demo.

My game doesn't have demo, but it's here because I have everything done, planning-wise.

i think all of you guys are kind of overreacting...

i mean sure i get the fact that SOLID wanted it a lil sugar coated..i think we all do cuz somebody telling you that your game sucks you should die doesnt really make somebody feel good about themselves (just an example dont freak out if you think im talking about you)

but also if someones giving you critisism you shouldnt freak out and call them an asshole or anything

so why dont we all calm down and get back on topic shall we?

i think it will be a promising game given time but id advise to make intro's a little shorter unless you have action orientated intros going on, and maybe work on the text a little bit too ... mappings ok and the characters are pretty ok too (may need work tho)

but yeah you should try and get the useless or unneeded crap that your not using on this demo to cut some weight on the file

Epic tutorial litery. Yes it does get annoying testing the same thing over and over and over, but it will be worth it. My current project has been tested at least 50 times, minimum, just for 11 short levels.

how do i make screenshots?

use the "Ctrl+Alt + Printscreen(Prtscn)" button on the keyboard then open an imaging software (paint will do), then press "Ctrl + C" to paste it into paint, then save as something.PNG then upload to imageshack, or another image hosting site, and grab the url. Then on this site paste in the url between tags.


Okay, now onto the actual topic. Firstly before i even think about downloading a game, i like to read a little of the games story and see some screenshots. I like to know the story to see if it actually appeals to me enough to waste time on playing. I also like to see what characters i might see in the game and a little bit of information on them. So until i play this i would like to see some of the games story, some screen shots and maybe some character info's in the topic's 1 post.

Robin wasn't an ass about it, so unless your definition of horrible criticism is not telling you what was great about your game before and after listing your various fuck-ups, then no criticism will ever be enough, because if someone like Robin isn't telling you what you did well, chances are you didn't do anything well. But now you've caught my interest, and I guess soon enough you'll find out what real asshole criticism is.

Its not a business its a hobby. and its not that we didn't come at you with a tone were not here to hold your hand. you should try looking around at people maps, play a few games made by the program your using and what not.

We are not here to slap you in the face, but the way your taking even robs advice is like your being slapped in the face. We cannot tell you that your game is kick ass when in truthfully its a piece of a shit, a good piece of shit for a noob but none the less.

You need to step up, take a look at other peoples, ask questions and follow the forums rules.

I am a college student. what i meant earlier is that if your professor said "jony this paper sucks balls right me another one lest i fail you" would you cry about it like you are in this forum? no you would take his comments and crit he wrote on your paper and write another on.

First of all, your intro is final fantasy, while i am a huge fan. It doesn't sound right unless "FINAL FANTASY" Is written, underlined and with the correct roman numeral next to it "Hopefully FINAL FANTASY XIV"

@Phantsmal: While I am sure you mean well with your criticism, Saying this person is an internet failure is not helpful at all. Keep in mind you were given countless amounts of criticism for your game and ideas. I can honestly say that you were given lots of helpful information and the majority of it was not negative. Keep in mind criticism is meant to help not to tear someone up. Afterall you wouldnt enjoy being called the same thing. So keep that in mind.

@solid: While I have not played the game, I would seriously consider the criticism that Rob had given. It sounds as though he gave you alot of feedback you should look into. Secondly sugar coating somthing such as criticism can be difficult at times, especially when you have a lot of work that needs to be done. Take what what was said and put it to work. Also dont be rude to those trying to help you. You wont get any help from people if you are rude to them, likewise people wont want to play your game. So give that a thought.

You lose what varying degree of civility "I'm new, go easy on me" gets you when you, being new, complain when people tell you how to improve, because that means you're not out to improve and take their advice, which means you're going to very soon be far from new and roughly as good.

Leon is perfectly legitimate name, and in no way being referenced to FF8. Had he used the name Squall then I would say there is a similarity. Secondly do not give feed back when you do not know what you are talking about. That is wrong. As rooster said , Why are you talking. You have your own game to worry about Phantsmal, please work on that, and let people who are more experienced in game development give feedback. Please and thank you.
